In this video, we explore my third generation Lego pneumatic / air-powered shooting mechanism. And to up the ante, we will make this a monstrous three-barrel shotgun that can shoot up to 12 rounds at once!
My previous air-powered guns used a crimping method of generating explosive blasts of air. But these mechanisms relied on bending the pneumatic hose, and then unbending it, which makes it slower to fully open the pipe. My new mechanism however opens the pipe much more rapidly, creating more powerful blasts of air, and makes it easy to crimp multiple hoses at once.
Finally, I will also add a large storage tank for air so that the shotgun can be reloaded quickly without having to pump it up between shots.
Let’s experiment to see how powerful we can make this shooter, what projectiles we can shoot at our moving tank-targets, and how many shots we can get out of our storage tank! - Věda a technologie

all 3 airtanks to one barrel would be insane😯
I've actually tried 4 tanks on a single barrel! It's a little stronger, but a bit underwhelming as each tank is bottlenecked by their small outlets. But perhaps some modifications to the tanks would be worth messing with!
@@JamiesBrickJams yeeah the key is to maximize peak pressure and its duration on the chamber. We (or just you, for that matter lol) could do some calculations to make a super-strong sniper rifle haha!
I would recommend adding a stock to help with aiming. This way you can stabilize your Lego weapons better.
Not a bad idea, would probably make the handling significantly better
@@JamiesBrickJams you could also attempt at making a brace that grips your arm, though I think making a basic stock, even one made out purely Technic beams and connectors as a sort of wire stock, would be easier.

Maybe use worm gears as riveling
@@leonhardmollney8638 that's impossible and would be useless anyways

I took inspiration from you and started building my own weapons myself. Thank you
Awesome, glad to be of service 😉 Good luck with your builds!
Ah yes, Lego. The next logical step in Warfare Advancement.
Good video
Cheers 😁
We went from small generators to full on pneumatic shotguns, Well done!
Haha bit of a destructive streak recently 😅
i love guns and lego, perfect!
petition: Long range sniper build
Ooooh yeah, I like that
Next step is to figure out a way to make/use rifled barrels. That would help ameliorate the projectiles rotating sideways once they leave the barrel.
Amazing video as always!
Appreciate it! 🙏
Awesome Build Jamie!
Thanks a lot!
Ooh, nice! You got a sponsor! Good for you, also, love your videos!!
Haha thanks 😁 And appreciate it
It's just amazing what you can do with just lego :D
It's a truly fantastic system!
Just wait until the pressure goes up to 16 bar, the pipes increase to 12 mm and the valve gets upgraded to a high speed electro-mechanical one
awesome content as always!
Big thanks 🙏😁
another great video, keep it up jamie

You make awesome stuff 🤩

New video idea. "Using legos to rob a bank"
Haha 😂
A thought on accuracy:
one of the main two ways, historically, that have been used to produce more accurate projectiles, has either been thru endusing a spin in the projectile, usually through rifling. Or, by using fins.
Rifling takes Very precise machining, or 3d printing, and might not work well with LEGO products. So, I think your best best might be to use a Discarding Sabot type of projectile.
By encasing the projectile in a casing that keeps it flush against the walls of the barrel, and putting fins on the projectile, you should be able to produce a far more accurate hit, without sacrificing power. I'd suggest giving it a look for V4!
That plant really had to suffer

U GOT A SPONSORR :DDDDD good job! nice seeing you grow :D
Aw thanks 😁🙏 Appreciate your kind words
Now you should make an air powered nerf gun
That's totally on my bucket list!
Next needs to be putting this on a tank
An improvement you can make is some Teflon Tape on the Primary Air Tank (the reused bottle) to seal the threads on the cap better.
Not a bad idea, cheers!
Move the small tanks as close as possible to the barrels for maximum force
nice!

Its time to make a single barrel the most powerful you can 🔥
Sure will 😉
1 hour! and without notifications
I think that a smaller container for the air makes it more compressed
Really nice! What if you took some concepts from other lego guns on yt such as magazines? Maybe you could even divert some air to create artificial recoil. Would be even cooler!
Ooh I love the idea of making a blowback system to provide some artificial recoil.. and maybe even reloading. Great suggestion, cheers!
We needs schematics...
But we can also just see the way you built it.
Anyway, epic video
I reckon it should be pretty straightforward for anyone to replicate from my video here! Though I know there's still loads of room for improvements to it
Cool
Small tip for the hose connection to the bottle, you can connect the hose to the t-junction then thread the hose through the hole instead of the juntcion first, thus getting a tighter seal. You'll need a slightly larger hole but it'll work better since you can use higher pressure
That's a great tip, cheers for sharing man! 👌
@@JamiesBrickJams No problem, another advantage is the higher pressure will give a tighter seal thus enabling even higher pressures. The highest I've dared is 9 bar so it should be plenty. Wouldn't recommend it for pneumatic engines though since it's a bit much for the pistons😅
Hey, I really like your videos. Also, do you know shrapnel? He made a really powerful lego gun with elastic bands. Could you try to make it even more powerful? I will appreciate a lot if you'll do it!
I just recently saw some of his videos - absolutely love them! He's got some truly ridiculous power out of a few of them. I may experiment with powerful rubber in the future, but for now I'll leave those in his capable hands 😜
You should add this to a lego tank
Dad: we got airsoft at home
The airsoft:
What weapon do you chose? Needle rifle. And hundreds of needles.
next step, make it pump action, where you don't have to manually reset the whole thing
Great idea!
Next him make a lego nuke using a firework
Imagine going to airsoft with this
Now do it for a smaller caliber up to 4mm and increase the barrel length by 2 times. I recommend using 4mm nylon balls for this gun.
Good idea, would love to try with small projectiles like bbs!
you could try to add automatic reload, except the bullets, either battery powered, or doing it the fancy way with the air storage as a multi-purpose part 😁
That's definitely something I'd like to try in a future upgrade or future gun!
omagawd a lego blunderbuss
Hello I have a question, how did you get the airtanks?
Hey, these ones are actually 3rd party - I bought on Amazon. It's pretty tough getting hands on the old Lego tanks unfortunately
i think longer barrels and slightly longer bursts of air will go a long way
i would love to see more stuff shot from the barrels like plastic or metal bb's.
maybe something else?
Great idea, would love to try some bbs
crosbow when? tension is super powerful
1:57 bro that scared me 😭😭💀☠️
😅
Where do you buy this type of legos at? Also what are they called are they actually Lego brand?
Hey, this type is called Lego Technic. It's their variant of Lego aimed at making functional things!
Great 💖💖
Thanks! 😊
Make a long range sniper looking gun with two bottles as tanks and make a electric air pump for it that sit at the gun
How many PSI are you charging those air tanks to? I would assume that the system is bottlenecked by small diameter tubing having low airflow, so a higher pressure would help without having to modify any parts. Though you could try drilling out the outlets of the tanks to a slightly larger diameter.
You're totally right, that bottleneck is quite frustrating. I was only pumping this up to about 50 psi at most, but I like your idea of just pushing through the bottleneck with higher pressures. I think cola bottles can take quite a bit more pressure, so it might be worth creating better seals and pushing the pressure even higher!
@@JamiesBrickJams My understanding is that Cola bottles can take 60 psi safely and potentially up to 90 at the risk of them exploding. Or you can just look it up, I'm pretty sure other people have tested it.
Yeah I think it's around that neighbourhood. I remember being surprised when I looked it up - was much higher than I expected. Will see what I can do 😉
btw, sometimes air or gasses can mess up the calculation of the cronograph (i heard) and also, what if you make it so its a break action? that you break it (fold it open) and put the bullets in that way (and maybe put a ring on the axles for schell ejection! and also that the bullets stay put while shooting
)
Ah interesting, I hadn't heard of gasses or air affecting the chrono. I love the idea of a break action lever too, cheers for the suggestion!
@@JamiesBrickJams it rlly would be cool, and np
btw keep it up!
Thanks a lot! 😊
Do you have a link to those little motors?
Sure: circuitcubes.com/
Recommend building a trebuchet, catapult, mangonel etc
I've actually made a few in the past. A powerful whipper trebuchet is on the bucket list! Great suggestion though, there's a lot of potential in siege engines 😁
What about one with a magazine?
It's on the list 😁

Can you make an Lego Compressor?
It's possible - I made one for my previous air-powered shooter. Though pumping up this bottle using that compressor would take absolutely forever 😅

now add a compressor
That was the initial plan but pumping up a full 1L bottle took forever! Might still build a ridiculous oversized version in the future with a massive compressor unit though 😁
