Nicely done Sven, great looking bike scenery and flawless install.
It looks great. The best CB500X I've ever seen. Congratulations! Nice, nice bike.
Thanks :-)
Te ha quedado impresionante....good job.
This is the most beautiful cb500x i had seen.
Beautiful setup, you make your bike much more completed !!
Awesome. Love the really detailed walk around and presentation of all the upgrades.
Thanks :-)
Looks awesome. In really like those golden wheels. As for the engine and hands guards I personnaly prefer the SW Motech ones, but yours do the job. I suggest a radiator grill if you do not have it already. Ride safe ✌
Just Awesome. Congrats.
Excellent !!
Very nice modifications
So good looking bike 👍
Looks great Sven.
superb success this transformation
Just great, Mr Olsen! 👍
Pure love. My dream bike
He really did it right.
Hello, my name is Luciano, I'm from Brazil, I own a CB500x, excellent video and very cool content, congratulations.
Thanks :-)
Beautiful! My dream, I love!
Te quedó espectacular!!!!
Wow it looks like my dreambike now :)
Belle moto avec de joli équipements !! ✌
I would say you have the nicest looking 2019 Honda CB500X on the internet that I have seen, I wish Honda was listening to their Australian customers and supplied the colour RED for the Australian market.
I'am now interested in a KTM for my new ride as HONDA has missed out on my sale and I'm sure many more sales, shame really they should show more interest in what customers really want.
Enjoy your ride live the dream. Sven.....
We get the red and the flat black, but not the white which is my favourite. Such an imperfect world.
I'm in Australia, I'd take the red or the white, but the flat black is a dealbreaker.
I'll wait another couple of years to see what Honda offers, or just update my WeeStrom.
Thanks :-)
The bike looks gorgeous... Big thumbs up!!
Très belle, bien équipée, jantes superbes.
She’s a beauty!
Yes I agree :-)
living the dream!
we do :-)
Perfect!
Un Trail , c'est à minima avec des jantes rayons.
Excelente look de la cb500x, felicitaciones, esta muy bien la alforja, que marca y modelo es, saludos desde Chile.
Very nice !
My wants and needs are having a battle royal right now. :)
Thanks for share.
Great Honda 💞
Badass!
Oh dude, that is exactly what I am looking for my cb 500 x 2017, at last spoke wheel... Could you please give an update on that video with the list of products to find on dealer : the 2 spoke wheels, wich tires u use, and about how to purchase the engine guard and foot pegs... And some details on how u prepared the suspensions.. Would be so helpfull and cool.... Great bike u have.. Cheers from France.. VVV
PRANA LOADED you will find all you need at Rally Raid Products 😊 webshop
Wow. It’s great!👍🏻
Do you have a switch for the abs???
Thanks for sharing!
I have a switch but it is not wired yet.
Muito bom, pena que não encontrei essas rodas aqui no Brasil.
Será que dá transalp não dá certo ?
She is a beauty! Really, you can be proud! Sven, do You think it is needed to have some kind of guard for the both manifolds?
Crayden I think the risk to hit that high up is very low, but doesnt say it could never happen 😊
Great video. Tipping the scale of my struggle to choose between CB500X and G310GS
The cb500x is more motorbike than the smaller 310
Hi, congrats on the great mods. Can you kindly share what air deflector you are using on your screen? Thanks!
I bought it on eBay bit its not listed anymore...
Nice bike, cb500x very good
Thanks ✌️
Looks absolutely great!
This is best 50/50 bike now out there.
It would be very interesting to compere Honda cb500x + Rally raid (2019) vs stock Yamaha Tenere 700 (2019).
It looks like two identical bikes now (price + specs),
The Tenere has a lot more power, but Sven's cb500x is set up with better equipment IMO.
Sarunas Sliuzas Tenere is heavier but has 21/18 versus the X who has 19/17. Tenere has 16 liters tank which gives a range of 300-350 kms, the X has 17,5 liter and with its superb fuel economy it gives + 500 kms. I rode 540 kms on the old X model who had 17 liter tank. So all in all very different bikes...I would really have loved if Honda gave this a 21/18 set up and put it on a diet to 160 kilos dry.
@@KurtGAndersen : Each of these bikes have strengths and advantages that serve to give us a wide choice depending on our particular priorities. Yamaha and Honda make the best bikes in my opinion, so there are no losers here except for those who don't do their homework.
Your fantasy about a Honda CB500X would be great off-road oriented adventure bike, but from where are the kilos to come and at what cost? There is a direct correlation between the costs going up as the weight goes down. Who knows, Honda might go in that direction, especially in view of Rally Raid's expensive after market equipment being popular with so many CB500X owners. If enough CB500X owners spend a considerable amount of money for that RR equipment, then it might be worth Honda's effort to build your fantasy bike.
I do like your fantasy, it's an excellent idea for folks who go off-road a lot. On the other hand, my fantasy would go in the other direction with a Tenere' 700 that would be more of a road-oriented version sporting 19/17 wheels and a larger fuel tank. That would be the best of both world's in terms of what I prefer for an adventure style bike because most of my riding is done on the highway with only occasional forays on dirt/gravel roads. That Yamaha motor is a beauty that is hard to beat in terms of the ideal performance/economy/insurance balance IMO. That extra HP of the Yamaha would help at highway overtaking.
Different strokes for different folks. I wonder if Sven is having a good time? My guess would be yes, he is having a lot of fun! Cheers!
Rick Ducharme Well - that these two bikes gives us a wide range of bikes to chose from is beyond my understanding but whatever floats your boat. How good and reliable the new Tenere is remain unknown for the moment as it is just been released a few places, and in in north-America it wont be available until next year.
How a lighter bike automatically gets more expensive is also beyond my understanding. In general smaller and lighter bikes are cheaper than bigger and heavier bikes. BMW 1250 GSA versus a Honda Crf250L, the first weighs about the double and cost 4-5 more than the second. There might be a few exceptions to that but they are exactly that - exceptions.
You want an adventure bike to ride on pavement and maybe a small stretch on a firm gravel road. Any bike can do that, especially if you fit some tyres that is suitable. So for your purpose any bike can be used, you dont need to lanoe them adventure bikes. If you buy an adventure bike and you wanna stay mainly on pavement - you can buy any kind of bike. If you want to do an adventure, ride the Lagunas route in Bolivia, or through the Amazonas jungle in Brasil, or maybe ride one of the great outback roads in Australia - you need a bike that can do that job. Not a caferacer...
Yes it would be an interesting comparison. I have a friend who receives his Tenere 700 next week. I do a lot of rides with him. So we will probably switch and try each other bikes..Tenere 700 was one of the bikes of my list when planning a world trip (was cancelled due to the costs)...For me the drawback of the T7 was unavailability when decision was to be done, it is an unproven bike, it is a bit high for me, it has about 100 km less fuel range than the CB. I have sit on a Tenere 700 at the dealer, the bikes certainly feels a bit heavier...maybe it is a bit more top heavy than the cb500x. For many it will be probably be an advantage to start on a lower price by buying a less expensive bike, and then take the upgrades step by step.
Awesome looking motorcycle Sven! Do you find a big difference in performance?
Yes when doing the stuff I like...backroads like Trans Euro Trail...the different in performance of suspension is very appreciated. And the more rigid wheels, engine guard and the better ground clearance makes me more confident when traversing bumpy terrain...
I own an mt09. I love the power but I want to get a second bike, cb500x. I love your set up. How much have you invested in the bike?
This set up cost around $3000. You can check the prices on Rally Raid website.
Really nice Bike
After having a CBR 500, I know what a great little reliable bike this is but the cost of the rally raid, weight and ground clearance will only make this a very light off road touring package. I currently have the DRZ400 which is better in some aspects but worse in others. The KTM 690, Husky 701 is probably as close as you get to the best over all package for the do it all bike but of course you need a bigger budget.
The giant loop soft luggage looks very impressive, does it require special brackets. ???
It is the Rally Raid Solo brackets, perfect for the Giant Loop Coyote...but it doesnt require them...
Happy New Year from Alberta, Canada, Sven!
Just curious if oil changes are difficult with the RR Engine Guard. Does it have to be removed/loosened? Cheers.
Not difficult as the engine guard is easy and quick to remove...
Thanks Sven. Thumbs down for needing removal; Thumbs up for ease. Cheers.
Hello,
Could you tell me what is the model of your fork boots? fouche tube protection
(Google translation)
www.ebay.com/itm/390238349947
Hi Sven, I've been following you for a while and I'm wondering, is the RR suspension a big difference from the stock one? Is it worth the money? Thanks man!
Yes if you go for level 2 you get better ground clearance as well. The rear shock is a lot better, the front is still quite simple because it is a conventional fork. But a bit better than OEM.
Great vid, what Barkbuster fitting kit did you use?
Did use the one for Africa Twin but they have now made one specific for the CB500X 2019 :-)
Nice bike! Congrats! Is it possible to change the wheels puting 21' front and 19' in back? Just for curiosity. I even don't know if you could answer it, but I've searching about it and I've found nothing.
Thanks a lot! No it is not possible to put on 21 front and 19 rear. It is no space for that.
@@thetubelesschannel Thank you, I was suspecting that. Good riding for you!
Wow man, you can call it CB500X Rally or CRF500 Rally, good job.
By the way, what's the small bottle beside the rear brake oil box for?
Its the external reservoir for the rear shock damper fluid.
Jette fint motorcykel
Tack så mycket
Goodnight friend. can you tell me which bike or model is a kit with spoked wheels that you mounted on the cb 500x.
Look at Rally Raid Products :-)
Hi, Sven. Good video. Can you say how much such a Rally Raid upgrade on your bike costs, in Norwegian kroner?
Thanks...check with Rally Raid Products. I got my parts more than 2 years ago with a 10% Christmas discount. The exchange rates, freight and prices may have changed since then. And some parts may not be available now. But the level 2 suspension, spoked wheels (ex tires), engine guard, footrests and short levers was 31.000,-
How different is the handling of the bike now you have the new suspension & is it worth the money?
Did you get a ABS on & off switch?
No I dont got a ABS off switch. Yes I think it was worth it, it made the capable of doing rougher roads with its better suspension travel and ground clearance.
Hello Sven, how much is the final ground clearance after the upgrade?
OEM it is 18 cm. After the ground clearance is about 20 cm measured from the bottom of the Rally Raid engine guard...
Great bike 2 questions whats the "new" seat height? How much it all costed :D?
Seat hight increases from 83 to 86 cm. For prices see Rally Raid website, to Norway the package is about 1/3 of the bike price.
Great looking bike. Small africa twin now ;).
Like somebody noticed, with this mods the price rises that you can buy tenere 700. But it wasnt available till now so...
The whole front fork was changed? Whats the suspension travel now rear and front? And the seat height?
There is a comprehensive FAQ section on the Rally-Raid website that should help answer your questions: www.rally-raidproducts.co.uk/image/data/PDF/2019%20CB500X%20FAQ%20revisions.pdf
@@jmo2752 Yeah. I saw this after writing previous post. Cheers
Great mr Olsen,
By the way headlight from my cb500x (2019) is not enough bright. can you change light bulb? if ok what kind of bulb and how can i change this.
Cheers, from vietnam.
Cheers, I don't know if you can change bulb, I guess no. Would go for some extra lights instead. Had Clearwater´s Darla on my R1200GS they where great.
Nice job! I am seriously thinking of this bike. What's the seat high compare to the 820mm original? What's the budget like for this conversion? I am currently in your country for holidays, went to Nordkapp! Cheers
Seat height is now 86 cm. Prices for upgrades will vary with currency and postage costs and VAT. Best is to check Rally Raids webshop and make a calculation. It also depends on how much you want to do. I did a Level 2 suspension upgrade and got the tubeless spoked wheels + engine guard and rally footpegs.
@@thetubelesschannel great thanks Sven! Do you have a picture with scorpion muffler? Is the autonomy really 500km with full tank? Are you happy withe Giant Loop saddlesbags? Would the final budget close to a Yamaha Tenere T7 and is it still worthy if you compare both bikes? Sorry to many questions 🙄 the day you want to sell it contact me 😎. Safe ride! In Stavanger now...
Hi Sven,
Can you tell me if there’s a lot of vibration in the pegs and handlebars when you’re going 100kmh and over? I’m thinking of buying one. Jason
Hi there is not any vibrations in the pegs. And very little in the handlebars, Better than average parallel twin bikes.
Very nice bike, where did you find the spoke rims? They are wonderful
Rally Raid Products in UK sold them
@@thetubelesschannel Thank you for your reply and the information
it would be great if you use the scorpion exhaust, the sound is completely awesome!
Scorpion exhaust will be the wifes surprise to me this Christmas
No longer surprise then...
Sven Olsen you should ask her to surprise you in early august!
@@hermit3955 I just revealed for her the RR-kit :-o She is very proud of her summer gift to me :-p
Nice looking bike. How much does she weigh with the RR upgrades?
About 2 kg more than stock but that dissapears when I get my new muffler :-) So less than 200 kg.
Hei
Wheels on spokes, where from? he replaced the wheel himself, I have not seen such a model.
From Rally Raid Products in the UK.
How much did this conversion cost? Looks really good! I think, Honda should take it to account and create a "Rally Ready" edition of the bike ;)
Thanks...Its a very affordable bike, great value for money, upgrades is about 1/3 of bike price here in Norway but adds great extra value for my type adventures. All prices at RR website.
is around 1300 british pounds. Comes with rear and front suspension, and additional components required for the transformation. Quite a lot of money.
If believe that if Honda would make the bike with those components, price would increase dramatically and people will complain that is too expensive and avoid it.
Hi Sven , the heated grips are from Honda ir Rally Raid? Or can you give me the brand?
Have you changed the front suspension, does it make The difference?
Regards from Portugal
They are from Honda. Yes suspension is RR, better suspension travel and better than oEM
@@thetubelesschannel thks
@@thetubelesschannel by the way , have you changed the Direction setup? Bar and etc?
Nice bike! Aren’t you going to put on some crash bars to protect your front fairing?
No I will probably not use money on upper crash bars. The front fairing is replaceable if i I was that unlucky to break it. Scratches is OK. Upper crash bars makes the bike more top heavy and just increases the risk for tip over.
Upper crash bars can also generate vibrations. My friend bought some on the 2018 model and took them off the next day.far too much vibrations around 4500 to 5000 rpm
3:23. Those rally raid engine guards don't seem to be substantial enough. The dime a dozen ones I've seen from other manufacturers seem to be a 2 piece that more practically cover literally the entire height of the engine . That round cylindrical part of the engine sticking out might still hit the ground first. Meh..I'll get everything else, but the crash guards I'll get from elsewhere.
3:56 to 4:23 Loving that tailbag though. THAT ...seems like a safer alternative to the Sw Motech pair of paniers from another video you uploaded ( which regardless I appreciate ftr good man). Why? Simple. That giantloop tailbag's bottom is much higher than the main possible heat build up area right above the exhaust. More physical space between the exhaust tip and a bag = much less chance of the heat building up against that bag's bottom and damaging it overtime.
The engine guard protects first of all the bottom of the engine which is the most important issue. For that the RR guard is the best I have seen. It also protect water pump. Of course I could also mounted bars to protect further up on the sides...but to a cost of added weight. Its a calculation of risk and pro/cons. I don't have any videos with sw-motech bags, you have seen it elsewhere. Happy with the Giant Loop ones.
Hey Sven :) I wonder if it does make any sense economy-wise. I mean if it is still more economical to throw money on a small bike instead of buying a real deal like Africa Twin.
I think the CB500X is a better bike for my driving skills and type of riding than the Africa Twin. Im happy with a lighter bike, but with many of the Africa twins great features..And of course Im glad I didn't need to use that large amount of money :-)
Definitely makes sense ride wise. The AT i'd buy is 238kg wet, whilst the CB is 197kg wet.
The music itself is worth it!
Hello Sven, very nice setup!
you don't miss the exhaust edge ending just below the saddle?.. I think a proper adventure or rally setup must have this kind of feature with the edge exhaust as higher possible..
I really like the 500x.. but this is one of my concerns.
Thanks for your attention (^_^) \m/
I will upgrade to Scorpion exhaust where end of muffler is a bit higher up. But main reason is weight savings...
NICE!!! WHERE DID YOU BUY THIS HANDGUARDS?? Y WANT TO BUI IT....WHAT BRAND THEY ARE?
The brand is Barkbuster... Rally Raid offer a Barkbuster with some extra pieces to fit the bike...I bought a slightly different model and fitted it myself.
Hi , did you find a big difference after putting the rally raid suspension on it or is standard ok ?
The standard is OK if you don't ride the very bumpy roads. For "offroad", river crossings, greenlaning the RR-suspension is way better and gives you more suspension travel and better ground clearance which then is needed.
Awesome thanks cool very true 👍🏼
The real cb500X
Please tell me where did you get the audio mix from?
Sorry dont remember that...
Hi Sven, how did you manage to get the approval from Norwegian Public Roads Administration (NPRA) since Rally Raid has only DOT what they told me. For Germany they do not have the ABE. I guess you have similar regulations in Norway. Regards from Germany
Bandogoma Ichiban hi dont need it for the wheels 😊
@@thetubelesschannel Lucky guy. I had several mail exchanges with Rally Raid and it looks like that it is legaly impossible to install the Kit in Germany since the have no validation documentation to obtain the ABE from KBA (similar your NPRA). It is definitely a safety related modification of the bike versus the original OEM release.
No entiendo por qué siendo "X" viene de fábrica con llantas de aluminio.
😍😍
Do you press up your ground clearance?
The suspension upgrade makes better ground clearance...about an inch, but the engine guard takes back a bit. But then you are protected without sacrifying GC.
Merci beaucoup l'Ami € !
Any plans to do a long ride now that it's all kitted up?
It will be two or three trips of 2-3 days in Norway this year. Setting out on a trip this morning :-)

I will need bar risers on mine...when I buy the bike......have you got bar risers....and if so did the cables need to be changed....only 40 mm rise....
Hi no I have not got bar risers. I am waiting for someone to make foot peg lowering kit and I think that the reach to be handlebar when standing will be perfect if the pegs is lowered about one inch. When seated it is perfect for my height.
