Hey Carl, clinical psychologist in training here, currently working in community mental health in MA and CT. I just want to say that it is always appreciated when you bring more awareness to the importance of prioritizing mental health as it is and should be treated in the same sphere as any and all physical health matters. In the past few years developing my therapy skills, I have seen far more men come to therapy and I believe a contributor to their self-advocacy is people like yourself, advocating for mental health in realms that they are more likely to be apart of! Sometimes the bravest thing someone can do is to choose to accept vulnerability and safety.

I know how you feel about loafers, but I live in Texas. I bought some boat shoes from Craft and Glory and within the first week the footbed on one shoe has failed. I've contacted them and they replied saying they are aware of the issue and working to resolve it. I replied back asking "what about me??". I have since been ghosted.
I'd be careful purchasing footwear from them.
I also purchased a belt which is fantastic!!
My only issue is the footbed. It's a slim piece of veg tanned leather on top of memory foam. The thin leather creased in the middle of the shoe, not the break at the ball of my foot. I feel it when I wear them. I dig everything else about them, but it's obviously a big issue.
Be careful thinking you're getting something you're actually not
If that is fabric, you can steam it as it hangs and get the wrinkles out.

I like a lot of things 1620 has to offer! That shacket is definitely different but to each their own I guess! On that note another awesome video! I know people some keep saying mental health issues are being overdone but I don’t think you can over due it as I’ve been struggling at times but having support is awesome and having that support around me has been able to get back to my sarcastic self!
Last week CZcams finally served up this channel in the algorithm after I watched a lot of your videos on the main channel (you sold me on Nicks boots after months of deliberating). I really enjoy this channel as I can just put it on like a podcast and go about doing stuff, I've listened to all the old episodes already and was quite happy to have this one to listen to this morning.

About the approach you take with this channel: Replicating the real experience of a dialogue between you and the viewer is probably only possible through a live stream. That usually ends up being a superficial and frustrating experience when multiple people are trying to have a dialogue with one person. You have a good position here to present information and provide food for thought in a welcoming environment. You seem to be making the best of an uneven situation. I commend you for the patience and generosity of that gesture. These episodes are a bright spot in my week. Even though I have plenty of friends through playing hockey and messing around with cars, this is different and important. A monologue that is presented as a dialogue. With comments and responses after the fact. It is what I value most in CZcams. I watch Tanner from Smeedia build and tear down and rebuild Subarus and Mazdas and VWs etc and it has taught me so much without necessarily being How To videos. These types of channels are the essence of the experience for me. Thanks. ❤

On the craft and glory conversation the other factor for US made clothing is also how far it had to travel to get to me. For me that's probably one of the biggest factors when I'm looking at stuff like this. We live in the society we live in so a lot of that is unavoidable but I really like to do what I can to buy as local as I can.
I do enjoy the format. It feels like you built something that is fully realized.

Correction: they responded saying it's a full veg tanned Footbed. It might feel softer because it's water buffalo. Either way, their website can be confusing regarding it.
They said it's normal and if it breaks they'll replace it free of charge.
My bison collab briefcase from Homestead Brand has arrived.
I might be getting greedy here but the first reaction I had was "I wish the bag could come in bison roughout". That wookie nap is seriously something else. One minor complaint though, the bottom panel of the bag came with about 5-6 cracks that splits the leather past the grain layer. I'm currently debating if it would be wise to apply some saphir greasy leather cream to the bottom to moisturize up the split area so to prevent the cracks from potentially getting bigger as I use the bag.

A few ideas, if I may? Truth to tell, your main channel focuses as it "should" given the folks looking for affordable, better made workwear. But here we learn too that your curiosities are not necessarily your tastes or your needs; often quirky (like that Freewheelers) and sometimes costly. (Things cost what they cost might be a way to approach some of _this_ channel content, more like a Clutch magazine look-but-not or instead-of- buy.) And not to get all humid in a windowless room but it's all about sitting with a pal in what are lonely, fractured, often comfortless times.
A couple of ideas for future topics/products:
The term Denim is "...a way of weaving, and did not originally refer to any type of yarn or fiber at all. " This is from Ralph over at WeatherWool, and love to hear more about the origins of denim.
Trakke is a Scottish company that has been making some interesting waxed canvas bags and other stuff. I don't have any of their stuff, but it's on my wishlist.
Tom Bihn is a great USA company that makes bags and more. I have way too many of their products, and it's all just top notch build quality.

Great perspective across the board, Carl! With the bag comparison, I've found Indonesian boot makers who craft boots that are on par with PNW makers with a considerable savings. We're both the same age, played in bands and I have to use the Fender Strat comparison. Or heck, even the classic Gibson Les Paul shape. Copied 1000,s of times over but achieves the look and sometimes (for those of us paying attention) an Ibanez for instance can have the same shape but even better guts at times and quality. I hope this possibly spurs Bradley Mountain to understand their competition. It also begs the question, 50% savings.

I understand the price difference between made in the USA and made overseas. I have bought the cheaper overseas products but try hard to buy made in the USA. The problem is we have seen too many American jobs shipped overseas. There are consequences for every action.

Hey, Carl? When you got your BuilderPros made for you, did you have them built with a little bit more width added onto the size since you use the comfort insert? Or, did you have them built and added the insert in yourself? Also, what insert did you end up choosing? How did it affect the size of the boot adding it in, and did you have to change up what socks you wear with them? I remember you saying that you used Darn Tough; I'm not sure which model you recommend. I hope you had a great weekend, and hopefully, you see this.
Hey man! Yes, I added a bit more width to accommodate for the insole, and I'm really glad I did. The insert was one which they offered back in the day, and its essentially fabric-topped rubber. I dont see a brand name on it.
For Darn tough socks, I swear by their steel toe models (the orange toe ones) because they really help insulate against the edge of my composite toe caps as I kneel down.
@CoffeeWithCarl1 Thank you very much for answering. Sorry for the late reply; it's been a crazy week. I'll definitely have to look into those socks. I currently use some Dickies that are designed for steel toe boots, but I've really been thinking about pulling the trigger on a good pair of merino wool socks. Currently, I'm waiting on my first pair of PNW boots to come in, and that's made me start thinking about it as well. Hopefully, I have enough room to add an insert if needed. I completely forgot about it until they were being lasted. Anyways, I hope you have a great weekend, and Happy Father's Day to you.
