      You’d miss those days, no problem with foreigners but when it’s your own suffering and them getting so many benefits and you don’t hear a single Irish accent in the city centre it’s so upsetting

      The old red dye used in smarties came from the cochineal insect so your friend was correct. It's still used today, as E120.

    Leaving them a clue trail to find the presents is a lot of fun too. It's my love of Easter, that gave me the idea. Playing The Hunter by Björk is a good mood setter. An Icelandic bard, about like Queen Buddicia singing your kids to their presents is fun, and still Christmas story spirited. But don't let them follow her too far. If you want to hear it you can look for it on YT. It may be too Pagan for some, and I definitely understand that. And won't put it here.

    It looks like 1963 not 1983. I'm sure that colour was fairly ubiquitous by '83.

      RTE didn't switch to video cassettes until 1985 believe it or not. It was film reel up to that
