I have a grand European that I purchased secondhand in 1982. I have shot it 1-2 times weekly ever since without issue. It was shot loose when I bought it but a quality rejointing job has seen it solid as a rock for 40 years. BTW the Grand European is a model 501 and differs from the 101 by having inertia set rather than mechanical triggers. Mine is a fixed choke trap gun serial K400122. I believe it is a presentation model as it has a highly figured Claro stock and has engraving on the barrel at the breech and each side of the top chamber on the shoulders to match up with the engraving on the action. The stock chequering looks like it might have been done by a blind man. If anybody can date this gun I would be very pleased to know it's age.
These are the variations and model numbers from the 1984 catalogue.
