Kudos to the very professional and on-the-ball tandem instructor... he kept cool, kept Jason from getting whiplash, communicated well. The only thing I would add is: if they pass out once, they may pass out again... have them hold their hand up, make the horns or \m/ or a peace sign, then you can see when they start fading out again.
if i ever had to jump, i would jump with that tandum instructor. he was the consummate professional. what a good guy. he kept his cool throughout, and treated you with dignity, and respect. i'm glad that you're alright.
You must be a skilled skydiver and get some serious training to become a Tandem Master. You are responsible not just for your own life (as the rest of the skydivers) but for other people's life as well. It is nearly impossible to find a Tandem Master that is not 100% professional.
hello leilani, what would happen if your instructor passes out??? :) ;0 :. please reeply asap leilani, im going skydiving this weekend and im super excited but mostly nervous! ✌🏼yolo. PS. love your name. pps. if i posted a vid would u watch? Excited to hear ur response :)
Im terrified of heights and planes and I did a skydive. best thing ever. The parachute isnt scary at all.. the plane ride up us the most terrifying bit!
Well done to the instructor though !! He kept very calm and got them to the ground safely !! I would have been freaking out of someone had passed out !!
once the freefall has completed and the parachute has been deployed. one leg at a time, lift your leg up (knee high) with both hands reach down and grab the harness strap that goes around your leg, on each side of it, grab it and pull it towards your knee. It will only move a few inches. Do this with both legs. This will put you in a more "seated Position" and will improve blood flow. i use to include this instruction with all my passengers to improve their experience. have fun!!!
Lol honestly I feel like some shit like this would happen to me if I ever had the balls to actually skydive. My body just CANNOT fucking handle that feeling of weightlessness, so I can't imagine how it'd be skydiving.
***** If you don't have the balls to do it it's fine but then why come here? There's no purpose in anything, get over it. Some would even argue that there's no purpose in living, so you better enjoy your life as much as you can and try things that you will remember forever. And cmon now, these instructors are very well trained and won't blackout.
***** Just admit it, you are scared. You are so jealous that you spit your anger on youtube trying to convince yourself that it's not worth it anyway. You are close minded.. Because you think it's not worth it, then it must be useless. You think you are the center of the world and that your opinion is the absolute truth. I have some news for you, your opinion doesn't have any value. Being scared is one thing, but trying to convince yourself that the brave people are stupid is being a coward.
***** Driving is more dangerous than jumping on a plane with parachute if you take a proper class and if you follow instructions. Not Taking risk is riskier because you are not living life. People take risk all the time like investments creating business buying a house. If you don't want to take risk then you might not have a life or boring life. Jumping a plane is a risk that is acceptable.
I've personally never had an issue with this while skydiving, but maybe a sudden drop in blood pressure caused him to blackout when the "stressful" situation was over. Jumping out of a plane for your first time will trigger your adrenaline and send your blood pressure through the roof for a short period of time. One of many possibilities.
i think its the spiral that does it, it's a similar heart-dropping feeling you get on a rollercoaster except you're 5000ft in the sky and just jumped out of an airplane, i even get it when jumping solo sometimes.
I have to say I just about Blacked Out watching the video! That was awesome! Thank you for sharing your experience with us on CZcams. Not everyone could do such extreme adrenaline stunts and you managed to make it without blacking out 100% of the ride down! No one doing it their first time ever has the same outcome Glad you made it aive brother!
I see that a lot of people pass out either when the parachute deploys, or after it is deployed and while the instructor is turning the chute very sharply. Is it because of the blood pressure going too low? Or because of adrenaline? Or something else?
When the adrenaline of your first jump wears off, it takes your memory with it - so you really have to rely on the video anyway for anything more than, "it was awesome" :)
The spiral dive is the most effective method for making a rapid descent, but it is also the most demanding method. Sink rate is between 8 and 12m/s and even higher in an extreme case. There are high G-forces in a spiral dive which can quickly lead to a black-out for those who do not have training. :)))
I just went skydiving yesterday for my second time and it’s not that I was scared but I nearly passed out. During the parachute ride, my whole body went numb, lights got bright and I saw black dots everywhere.... I literally felt myself about to fall asleep. Not sure what happened so if anyone knows, please comment! Haha
Its strange how they pass out after the shoot is deployed its like their brains go OK your safe now Im not needed anymore goodbye, like a reaction to a sensory overload.
I think he may have started blacking out when the instructor was making those HARD TURNS, they put a lot of "G" force toward your feet. He lost blood in his brain.
Guess the instructor got bored of Jasons screams...did few 360's to shut him up and enjoy the glide in peace and quiet...that's real experience, brother :) btw, nice job on keeping cool and waking up the sleepy beauty in time for landing...and Jason, respect, man, for having balls to jump
My first tandem, the instructor went into a spiral dive with me and it was awesome then he let me fly the chute into a spiral dive. Was so fun! Cant wait to start my AFF's!
funny how people seem to freefall fine but once the parachute opens they pass out me its totally the opposite the free fall makes my heart race but once i open the parachute i relax till i touch down on the ground and its been like that ever since my first jump
Most Likely, you will not pass out. You will only pass out when the instructor makes too much turn. The instructors makes turns because customers usually like the feeling of G-force. SO most of the time they do it. But some customers dont tolerate G-force that well. Tell your instructor not to make too much turns before boarding on the plane.
It was from him being hyped up all the adrenalin rushing throw and when they were in that pretty right turn, looks like it over loaded the ole brain, basically oxygen starved , and it just shut it down. 😎👍
He passed out because his instructor was making a lot of continuous turns. That increases the G-force on your chest and that probably made him pass out..
the gs are not that extreme, it might have contributed to it a little, but mainly his brain was on sensory overload, coupled with the slight less amount of oxygen in his brain because of the gs.
Try doing this maneuver yourself and you'll see its not really a high G experience, especially compared to a roller coaster. he was screaming, excited, not breathing right etc
All modern parachutes come with an AAD Automatic Activation Device that deploy the reserve if you are still falling faster than 78 mph under 1000 feet, they have saved many lives. Keep in mind that 1000 feet in free fall is 5 seconds to impact, so if you have a pilot chute in tow/bag lock/streamer malfunction on the reserve during an AAD fire, you're dead. Very rare especially considering how carefully packed reserve chutes are, but it happens maybe once ever 1-2 years
I wonder what the altitude was on his first jump, but I think he just forgot to breathe! He looked a bit iffy to me as he was walking out to the plane! I don't think he really wanted to carry out the plan, but we have to hand it to him for going ahead. That took some guts!
@hercion very true, I go indoor skydiving every year and they use 100mph+ winds and it is compulsory you have earplugs, isn't it the wind rushing past your ears at high speeds and it echoes through your ear? Correct me if I'm wrong though!
Well done man for the jump... Yeah ya blacked out but it was actually probs due to the severe slowing down or something as through the most scariest moments which id assume is the leaning from the plane and jumping to then the extremely fast free falling? You were great !! ... If you can do this then i can. Im watching girls do it so i cant bottle it !!! ... I know the rush will more than make up for any girly panzy fear ill be feeling so grrrrrrrr. Cant wait lol ( :o/ ). Great vid :o))
It's not unheard of to black out once the chute opens. This happened to a friend of mine who I went skydiving with. The harness can put pressure on the artery in the leg, temporarily cutting it off during turns. Then you black out. Same idea as kicking the inside of the thigh hard to knock someone out.
@Alcapwn77 I didn't have an empty stomach, but the straps felt really tight when the parachute went out. I think it may have been my ears not adjusting to the altitude change. Poor instructor *got drooled on!* You can see him wipe his face right after!! Haha!
He was like "he talks too much, have some g's"
Way to face your fears, Jason.
It was the G force of the turn that drained blood from his head.
Yes and the axiety of jumping had his face beet red and probably caused a brief period of hypoxia
