I don't have these particular pliers. Instead I use a crimping tool that has most of features of the presented pliers. Funny thing about many Knipex tools is how well they are designed. Every function just works. Cutting screws - works. Closing feature - works. Non-slip handles - do not slip and stay on the tool. Knipex definitely has the best quality/functionality/price ratio. Despite some sound issues - video is good as always. No BS, no teasing, no unnecessary words, just exactly what the title says. I wish more youtube content would be like that.

If I didn’t install MC cable 95% of the time I wouldn’t have looked outside of those Kleins but the cutters on all my Knipex are something else. Knipex is one of the few brands where I have yet to buy a single tool that I thought, "I wasted my money” I got a new phone (that I thought would be better) and it picks up my voice as I move..my other didn’t really do that. I use to be strictly Klein ended up hating all their hybrid stuff. I picked up a pair of milwaukee 6in1 and I loved it! I use them to work with MC every single day. Mr. Morgan I now might have to buy a pair of these. 👍👍

@@llanbull the screw cutter is better because you don’t have to thread the screws. You actually can cut other size screws as well with the Knipex if they fit in the hole, I used them to cut cabinet knob screws the other day. They have a little bigger head, which can be a positive or a negative depending on the situation but for twisting wires the Knipex works better for me and saves me from carrying a pair of lineman’s. The biggest difference for me is how wide they open to cut. I don’t have the newest Milwaukee strippers but mine didn’t open wide enough to cut MC cable. The cutter on the Knipex is also better in general IMO. Both are good, not knocking the Milwaukee. I like them too and they work well. I would just pick these above them. Again, that’s just my opinion.
I like those Knipex, might get a set soon. Just FYI It's not six 32nds and eight 32nds, it's six thirty-two and eight thirty-two. 6 and 8 for the diameter, 32 for the threads per inch.

I just picked this up the other day. I have had the Milwaukee and they are good but they just never felt the best, so I have been using the south wire ones, but I figured I would get the knipex. Great video as always. I am looking forward to using my new tool Monday.
I used the Milwaukee’s too and liked them pretty well. I had a lot of their pliers because I did like the grips on them. These do all the functions just a little to a whole lot better depending on which one. Been using for 6 months (quite a bit) and the cutters are as good as day one. Enjoy that tool!
Years ago I pronounced them NYE-PIX. Like knife or knight. I now pronounce them as German Ka-Ni-Pix. It took some getting use to, but I make my brain forget the silent k thing. From screwdrivers, pliers, strippers, and more, they are all top k-notch.
I have these and the Klein Forged Hybrid Pliers (J215-8CR, grey handles). I can't decide which ones I like better! The Kleins also have a built in crimper.
Yeah, the crimper is the one thing these are missing. I have the ratcheting Klein crimper that I prefer to use so it doesn’t bother me that it’s missing on my strippers, but it wouldn’t hurt my feelings if they put it on there. I would only need one is if I run into something somebody didn’t crimp well that I might want to adjust to save me the step of changing tools. The Electrical Installation Pliers and my Lineman’s from Knipex have a crimper on them. It’s odd they didn’t put it on these. I’ll have to check out your Kleins. Thanks for the comment!

I only have them in Comfort Grip because when they first came out that was the only option. Some people love the Comfort Grip. I don’t “not like” them… but I always prefer the dipped handles because they are a little slimmer. That’s just my preference because that’s what I’m used to. If I buy another pair I’m going to get the regular dipped handles.
Great review. I compared these to the Klein yellow/black handled J206-8C strippers a while back and went with those because I did't like the handles on the Knipex. Now that they have the standard dipped handles, I might look at them again. The ability to cut MC cable without diags is great. I also thought the Knipex looked like they could ream conduit if needed.
The other handles may "look cooler" in a bag but I prefer getting a good grip. Some may get a better grip with the thick handles but not me so I will probably pick up the standards at some point as well. I may also check out those Kleins. I’ve used a lot of theirs over the years too and have always found the to be good. I swap things up sometimes just to keep it interesting. Thanks for the comment!
They are very similar. There isn’t near as much difference between the Linesman’s as there is between the cutters on the Knipex Strippers and any pair of Kleins I’ve owned. I don’t know of anything on the Knipex Lineman pliers that sets them apart from or performs better than any Klein pair I’ve used. The only reason I have the Knipex Linesman’s is they came in a set with diagonals, cobras, and needle nose.
After using nothing but Klein I decided to upgrade my tool kit with all knipex. The only complaint I have about these pliers is how wide the pliers stay open after locking. It drives me nuts having over a 1/8 inch gap and being able to clack them while locked
I bought my Milwaukee version of this for only $29 from home Depot (8 inch high leverage ones). For me these Knipex just don't seem to justify being twice as expensive. Maybe they'll outlast my Milwaukee, idk. But in the week I've had them they've held up pretty well. I originally bought them to replace my Klein Lineman pliers so I could just carry around this one tool instead of Klein's + strippers, but while twisting 4 or more 12 wires together, I realized they don't have the same leverage or grip that traditional Klein's do. I had some Milwaukee 7 in 1’s.. I think… and I really liked them. I like the Kleins too. It’s the MC cutting for me on these that’s so important. If I didn’t use iMC all the time it wouldn’t say “I have to have these instead”. The screw cutting is a nice upgrade too. There are many great tools that can get the job done and all our jobs, (even in the same field) are a lIttle different. Thanks for sharing your thoughts 👍
I’ve cut more cabinet knob screws with them than fixture screws 😂. With them not being threaded you can cut anything that fits in the hole. The cutters on these are where they shine in my opinion… but depends on what you work with the most. Sorry I didn’t go in detail on the loop 🤦♂️

I have the rack a tier crocks. Only issue with those is they don't have the wide nose for wire twisting. One thing that these Knipex are missing that the Crocs have is the ability to strip the jackets off 12/2 and 14/2 (it makes a cut for you to pull it off easily). I'm resi so I mostly deal with Romex. If these had that I'd buy them in a heartbeat.
Yeah I have a set of Kleins that cut the jacket off. I mostly do MC and Conduit, so I don’t carry those all the time. It is a super nice feature to have them when dealing with Romex though. I may check out the Rack A Tiers.. never seen them before. Thanks for the suggestion 👍

Dammit...I wasn’t gonna buy the knipex strippers bc they’re so expensive but after this video I’m ordering them first thing. That screw cutter is freaking amazing! Those knipex strippers cut the Mc cable without damaging the cutting blade?
I’ve been cutting MC fairly often with mine and my Electrical Installation Pliers and haven’t had any damage yet. I don’t do electrical every day, but I do it really often. I’m actually surprised at the price on these. Compared to some of their other tools they aren’t that high for the amount of functions. For some reason the Electrical Install Pliers cost more. The screw feature is nice. A benefit to theirs that I didn’t mention is that since there aren’t threads you aren’t really limited to 6-32 and 8-32. I cut down some cabinet knob screws the other day. If it fits in the hole, they will cut them.
I have cut some screws for cabinets knobs that weren’t 8 or 6-32… I can’t remember what size they were. Didn’t have to clean them up at all either. Not sure about every single screw… but so far as long as they fit in the hole.. it’s been cutting them cleanly.
I have noticed the Knipex seems to be coming down in price…. maybe because more people are buying them. They are a little more expensive . Those are all really good pliers that will get the job done… if I didn’t work with MC Cable all the time the Kleins I have work great. The cutters just can’t do MC.
I’m all for saving money, but it’s not like these are $250, they are literally $10-15 more than the competition. For a tradesman that’s a matter of minutes of work, and for a tool you use all day everyday (I’m a solar installer/technician) it’s worth having one that works well and works every time. Also in a year I’ll go through 2-3 normal Klein wire strippers, which is equal to the cost of one Knipex stripper, and if the Knipex gets damaged I can just mail it back to them and get a new pair. Theoretically you can do that with Klein products but I’ve had horrible experiences with them in that regards. Total opposite of Snap-On.
They are great , their twisting ability ; , no problem twisting 4 , 14 AWG solid , no biggie ( I don’t use much 12-2 , I’ll give them a try next time I use some . I think they think they are Lineman pliers !
Yeah that and the more wire sizes is what puts them above the Electrical Installation Pliers… but I prefer using the Electrical Installation Pliers in my hand

@@MORGANSMaintenance As an aside , smaller than 18 ga. , I just use the Klein Telcom Scissors , they handle 19-24 AWG just fine . I schlep the2600-1’s , as they can handle multi cables up to 1/2” .
I liked the dipped better on all of them… but that’s just me. I know several people that like the comfort better. The dipped handles are slimmer is why I like them.

Been loving the videos morgan,think you could do a dedicated review on the knipex twingrips?.Im a big fan of knipex since my belarussian co worker told me bout them and now im deep into the ecosystem .The cobras and pliers wrench have made my job as a plumber so much easier,so ive been wondering if the twingrips are something i should invest in.
I may do that… thanks for the suggestion. They don’t get as much use as the Cobra or Pliers Wrench but are great to have. Plumbing seems to be the primary place I use them because I can get on things straight on in tight places. I will try and do a review soon. I have a ton of tools but it’s always hard to decide to review them or not since there are some reviews already out there. Because of that I think, “They won’t want to see this tool, it’s not something they’ve never seen before” That is a tremendous compliment though, thank you for that. My guy, those screws aren’t 8/32nds and 6/32nds, they are 8-32 and 6-32. It’s not a fraction, it’s size #8 or #6 screw with 32 threads per inch. You just say “six thirty two” or “eight thirty two” One of my biggest stupid petty pet peeves in the industry

I only have them in Comfort Grip because when they first came out that was the only option.
Some people love the Comfort Grip. I don’t “not like” them… but I always prefer the dipped handles because they are a little slimmer.

The installation pliers work great for reaming 1/2 in but the design is really for cleaning plaster off of a plaster ring.

I don’t cut screws that much so that function is a wash. I would love to see the hook and loop function if that would take the guess work out.

have you tested cutting other diameters of screws on these? I wonder if they can provide a 'screwable' cut for example in iso m3 screws.

Those are all really good pliers that will get the job done… if I didn’t work with MC Cable all the time the Kleins I have work great. The cutters just can’t do MC.
I’m all for saving money, but it’s not like these are $250, they are literally $10-15 more than the competition.
For a tradesman that’s a matter of minutes of work, and for a tool you use all day everyday (I’m a solar installer/technician) it’s worth having one that works well and works every time.
Also in a year I’ll go through 2-3 normal Klein wire strippers, which is equal to the cost of one Knipex stripper, and if the Knipex gets damaged I can just mail it back to them and get a new pair.
Theoretically you can do that with Klein products but I’ve had horrible experiences with them in that regards.
Total opposite of Snap-On.
They are great , their twisting ability ; , no problem twisting 4 , 14 AWG solid , no biggie ( I don’t use much 12-2 , I’ll give them a try next time I use some . I think they think they are Lineman pliers !
Yeah that and the more wire sizes is what puts them above the Electrical Installation Pliers… but I prefer using the Electrical Installation Pliers in my hand

@@MORGANSMaintenance As an aside , smaller than 18 ga. , I just use the Klein Telcom Scissors , they handle 19-24 AWG just fine . I schlep the2600-1’s , as they can handle multi cables up to 1/2” .
Is the comfort grips your preferred handle style for this tool? Or would like the dipped or insolated style more?
I liked the dipped better on all of them… but that’s just me. I know several people that like the comfort better.
The dipped handles are slimmer is why I like them.
That extra syllable with the beginning of the word has got me rolling over here it's like when people say qwhiskey lol.

This pair is, you can’t see the spring but it’s in there somewhere. My electrical installation pliers from Knipex are not.

Been loving the videos morgan,think you could do a dedicated review on the knipex twingrips?.Im a big fan of knipex since my belarussian co worker told me bout them and now im deep into the ecosystem .The cobras and pliers wrench have made my job as a plumber so much easier,so ive been wondering if the twingrips are something i should invest in.
I may do that… thanks for the suggestion. They don’t get as much use as the Cobra or Pliers Wrench but are great to have. Plumbing seems to be the primary place I use them because I can get on things straight on in tight places.
I will try and do a review soon. I have a ton of tools but it’s always hard to decide to review them or not since there are some reviews already out there. I need to remind myself that my perspective may be different than someone else. I know I watch multiple reviews before buying something usually.

Hard to adjust to being a part of a community that loves tools as much as me. I’m used to most people not “getting it” when you talk about how some little nuance in a tool makes all the difference. Because of that I think, “They won’t want to see this tool, it’s not something they’ve never seen before”

I’m not sure. They do offer Metric in most of their strippers including the Electrical Installation pliers, but not these.

My guy, those screws aren’t 8/32nds and 6/32nds, they are 8-32 and 6-32. It’s not a fraction, it’s size #8 or #6 screw with 32 threads per inch. You just say “six thirty two” or “eight thirty two” One of my biggest stupid petty pet peeves in the industry
You are 100% correct. I didn’t even catch that is what I say… probably because I deal in fractions way more often in my work than I do screw sizes my brain reads it that way.

Once you go KNIPEX, everything else is junk...there is a difference.
I have found all mine to be top notch tools.. not to say other tools aren’t, but Knipex all perform extremely well.

Not to bust your balls but it is pronounced as Nip-pex. I prefer Nippex, it is easier to say. I have the same thing with WERA screwdrivers… apparently it’s pronounced VERA but I’m not doing that.
