    • @louf7178
      @louf7178 Před 4 lety +5

      If I did this right: for a 30 frame/sec camera (normal movie rate) (using 320 mph) 15.6 feet per frame would be traveled.
      320 mph x 5280 ft/mi ÷ 3600 s/hr ÷ 30 frames/s = 15.6 ft/frame
      15.6 ft/fr = 187 in/fr so 30 fr/s x 187 = 5610 fr/s, minimum, needed for 1 inch increments. Suddenly 10,000 frames/sec (1/2") is somewhat course (for 320 mph).

Those are some of my best childhood memories getting some fries or a hotdog from the concession stand. I was so comfortable at the track as a kid that I’d fall asleep up in the stands since the races would go past midnight some nights. This was in the 90’s before people wore hearing protection lol so in between my years and years at the track and in garages around loud cars and my love for going to concerts and being right by the speakers plus my years of shooting guns I have a nice case of selective hearing lol.

    I had the privilege to shoot both Top Fuel and Funny car right at the starting line, just over the wall. Needless to say, the percussion in my chest was unreal, not to mention my teeth vibrated as well. My ear plugs were the best in the business, and thankfully my camera and lens held up to the 150 decibels of 2, 11,000 horsepower dragsters, pulling 8g's in a second when the light turns green! Wow!

    I've been to many NHRA venues in the past 45yrs. From the Prudhome era thru Sox&Martin, Grumpy Genkins, Don Garlits, Shirley....so many others. We've seen horrific devastation and lives taken. With defeat comes safety. Development in the way these machines are heavily protected now shows how much these men are determined to conquer that 1000ft of real estate in less than 3.5 sec. I've support the NHRA for all the sacrifices these warriors go through at each event. It's worth every penny I've spent over the years.

    I have been to the Rt. 66 drag strip several times. I love to get my nitro fix there when I can but that was a few years ago. But for some reason almost every time the NHRA is there, there is a very severe storm. They even had a tornado touch down very close to the track. It was shown on ESPN.

    Do the cars go further in competition with the time for the run or the speed they achieve in that run
    Do they have a manual clutch to release when they jump off the line to start or is it an electronic release of car
