    Track tried that numbering system and included the core into it. 5, 7, 9, series 715 c = mid strength, control, and a .015 diff. Well ahead of its time

      Yeah the problem was it was terrible for marketing. Turns out bowling balls marketed like appliances don't sell as well. I think it makes sense to have more technical names for core/cover but something snazzier to name the ball. The old cover names Global used were perf 👌

    Excited for this ball, I actually got 2 of them coming, and keep one outta box finish and one for the fresh and hit it with a 1000 grit.

    Does the new “reserve” system actually reflect strength like the previous response system did? I thought 802 just meant it was the second 800 series in the reserve system. I’m glad to see these reviews clarifying what it is blended out of.

    Great comparison video. It is also nice to see that you can take your hand out of it and go lower rev. I am under 300 rpm most of the time but my roll sees the lane early sometimes so seeing it from a more closed down angle lets me compare "my notes" on the balls you compared. Thanks for taking the time to make these!!

    Great video. How does this compare to the Virtual Energy Blackout? Are they too similar to carry in 3 bag arsenal

    • @shawn_z51
      @shawn_z51 Před 7 měsíci

      Vebo is an asym so it’ll get off the line a lot harder. Otherwise similar coverstock strengths. For a 3 ball arsenal probably too similar (both being stronger cleaner balls with good backend motion).

    I agree with you. I like the numbering system on 900 Global thats why I like them and yeah they should do it for their cores too. It definitely will help to give you an idea what ball fits your bag. I hope 900 Global does that.

    Personally I think globals previous cover rating system was a little easier to understand, but I do like the extra label on the new system. Think new system would be better if they would come out with a chart for it, or even explain it more.

    The first channel I've seen to actually pronounce it su-blime in stead of sub lime. Very happy about that lol.
    Do you think the Sublime would be around the same strength as the Xponent? Maybe a ball up from that, but just below the Journey?

    Track did this same thing a decade ago. They went the extra mile to determine hook shape as well. EX: 300A, 300C, and 300T. A = Angular, C = Control, and T = Traction. 300 Series was more entry level, 500s were mid performance, then 700s were mid/high, and 900 was high end asym. Then I think a year later they brought out the 400, 600, and 800 series balls.

    How should I apply this for the bowler who doesn't bowl league or tournaments? Its best after 12 games of league? I might bowl 9 games in an hour and a half solo on a house shot. And, there could have been 10 year olds bowling on the lane for the past 5 hours. Where does this ball fit for me? Ive never bowled on lanes that burnt up(I think). Maybe the average house shot is more burnt up than I think, and 3 games of league are broken down properly to assist the bowler.

    Question: The Journey, since it is a signature ball, do you think it was designed specifically for a certain group of bowlers who can generate such rev rate? Based on this comparison, we can see Journey tend to hook-stop at the end of the pattern whereby the other 2 balls have a continuous motion... What do you think...

    • @EdButlerDetroit
      @EdButlerDetroit Před 7 měsíci +2

      I would agree, I have the Journey and it really only looks good when I whale on it. It’s 10 pin city from straight with low revs.

    I personally do not like global's new coverstock naming system because it does NOT indicate strength. Their old system did.

    • @vance836
      @vance836 Před 7 měsíci +4

      So an 800 series cover does not indicate stronger than a 700 series cover? Last I checked 800 is more than 700.

    • @andrewweltlich9065
      @andrewweltlich9065 Před 7 měsíci +6

      @@vance836 700, 800, and 900 are arbitrary performance groups they put the balls in. It does not necessarily correspond to cover strength. The real issue however is they are numbering each new coverstock sequentially. For example reserve blend 801 and 802. The names tell you nothing about how those 2 coverstocks compare to each other. The old naming system literally told you the cover strength. S84 compared to S70 for example.

    • @brettrobbins2707
      @brettrobbins2707 Před 7 měsíci +1

      can still make the system easier for people who dont really get into the numbers, also rg and diff doesnt tell everything, for instance lets take the gem line for instance, the exotic and OG gem have the exact same numbers, but very different motions, if i took 1-3 and 3 parts of the lane the system would look like this, 1 being straighter and 3 being more hook. OG gem front part in oil 3. Mid lane ending oil, 2. End lane dry 1. so a 3-2-1 ball, exotic front part oil 2. Mid lane 2, end lane dry 2. so Exotic would be a 2-2-2 ball. you can compare the motion a 3-2-1 ball vs 2-2-2, right away i see the gem is stronger off the hand and smoother and more controller on the backend. And the exotic is a good avg on all parts I wouldnt have to look up so many other factors in coverstock and nano load etc, or diff and rg numbers, the universal chart would just tell you. It could even have different ratios on different length patterns as some people dont understand how it changes with oil length or volume. Also every companies cover stocks are very different so you could take 6 different companies all with the same core numbers and be very different on the lane. Those numbers some of these companies do only compare their own coverstocks and balls not the markets
