So I tried Hosting Drum and Bass Enjoyers Cup 2, an osu! tourney in the 5 digit rank range and i probably won't do it again...
Big tourneys such as osu! world cup or The Roundtable seem fun to host, so I was like why not give it a try.
Now I'm down 70 dollars and wasted hours organizing and creating mappools just to get roasted. Not worth. Also, can't believe I got "cancelled" on Twitter. I mean it was a failed attempted but it's still funny to us. Feels a bit too early in my CZcams Career to get cancelled in my opinion though.
nice job hosting a badged tournament, people were assholes about things but you should be proud that you made it this far. high quality vid as always

This is actually a good video. I can say that hosting is hard and you start to lose interest even over pety things. I hosted alongside PsychedelicMush (yes, the same girl who made those jokes in the discord.) For SAFST (PsychedlicMush's Scuffed As Fuck Summer Tournament) and PMWT (PsychedelicMush's Winter Tournament). As they were both low 5 digit to high 6 digit unbanned tournaments. A LOT of both tournaments were scuffed. From streams not happening, replayers not getting replays out in time, various bugs with HitomiChan's sheet templates and the 6 month sign up period for SAFST. But honestly, even though I made a majority of the graphics, sheeting, streaming, payments and stuff for both iterations, I had way more fun with SAFST. We essentially started planning 6 months before the fourm post was released and had like a near $200 prize pool for 6 digits (2 year supporter for first place) and we even got a custom song made! For nm6 of grandfinals.. money well spent!
But honestly, the reason why I persisted with SAFST was with Mush's situation at the time, she found out she was trans during the tournament, got kicked out of her own home and had to stay with her friends for a bit. It gave me a drive to kick every staff into gear for semis and finals to make her proud.
Now.. PMWT.. were do I start? I guess with the cleaner looking stream overlay I made, and an updated sheet template, it was the same.. but due to my shitty mindset of refusing to stream if I mess up on streaming, a lot of the times the streaming job was handed over to affirmedcheese (major carry) and I was in the shadows whilst I had my own gender questioning that I don't want to get into for now. I just felt I wasn't as connected with PMWT, even when the sheets started to fuck up so much that refs had to use notepads... there were no custom songs since we didn't have much planning and it was not the best but not the worst tourney hosting I did.. at least I made some animated banners without using gif!
The question if I did hosting again would be a yes if I had someone else with me to handle the pr stuff whilst I would be in the shadows doing the majority of the stuff. I'm happy to so anything technical but my tournament interest had slowly started to diminish as I have not streamed for 6 or so months..
There could be a ton here that I might have gotten wrong in this essay written on phone.
But i would like to thank especially Kirania for doing the bulk of mappooling and admin work, affirmedcheese for doing tons of streams and all the refs and staff members of both tournaments. I had fun and hope you did to!
Edit, we actually planned to do PMST with a custom full flavour tiebreaker with a story.. buut the keyz thing happened and that went down the drain.
Now Mush is out of the osu tournament community and rarely uses discord and twitter due to that fallout.
Tourney staffing is stupid hard, you have my respect for giving it a try and not going dark after realising its not something you actually liked doing. I co-hosted a 6 digit tournament a couple years ago (Scarlet's Touhou Tourney) and I was super passionate about it at the start but I started getting drained and realising it wasnt my thing and I did relate quite a bit to your video. Shame the controversy took away your badge but this was an awesome documentation. And at the end of the day, at least you gave hosting a shot. Good stuff man :)))

Hi! I'm the one who did the doc! A few things to mention
1- the only reason I did it is because all those convos went completely unmoderated without even a slap on the wrist until I posted it, and you guys told me to chill because it's just a joke(on a public server that adheres to good behaviour)
2- The staff thing is always a problem on most tournaments which might be a surprise to some people but there's very few people who really want to put in work after being appointed as such
3- Due to the nature of this tourney, mappool should not have been a conventional pool because mad respect for making a tournament with a single genre of songs but that restricts mapping ideas so much that sticking to conventional pooling is not such a good idea, maybe you could try Charlie's Perfect Math Class or the other moistcritikal tournament pooling ideas?
That's all, have a good one and hopefully you take public moderation more seriously!(It does not take that much work)
One small edit: I will mention that my reaction feels a bit exaggerated but since I got asked to chill(in other ways) because they were friends I did feel like this would've gone to deaf ears anyway

Personally i would say that everyone who was helping out did a great job. It wasn't the best organized tournament, but it definitely was something some people where talking about a lot (doesn't need to be ment in a negative way, some actually said they liked the idea, but the lack of dnb was just an issue).
And with that being said, thank you saow!! Thanks for hosting, getting out the registration sheet in the tournament blogs.

anyways, was fun still, even if by the later rounds i was really running out of dnb suggestions (as i already used most of my good ones on the early rounds like quals or dnb cup 1) and i recall some people were very adamant about it being as much dnb as possible over just good maps for slots cuz then what's the point of the tourney gimmick of dnb and stuff...

Heya there, former player of Dnbec2, I just wanna share how it was like for me and my team and what not
1. The whole drama with mush and such took up a long time in generall chat which lead me to ignore general pretty quickly and mostly talking in private with some staff members (in that case Dorgez) about what was going on and what i needed to know.
2. Scheduling was a absolute mess for me and my team, qualifiers we're at a bad time as one of our players couldn't play and 1st match was schedule hell which lead to us massively underperforming in that match (sort of same thing that recently happened to me in 5thc where my team got schedule hell'd as staff really didnt care abt when we could play because we were lower seed)
yeah other than that you mentioned it yourself but pooling was a big issue too, qualifier pool was good, but after that it went downhill drasticaly,
But i dont really have any hate towards anyone involved, it was just messy and really really awfull experience for us which i wish was a bit better handled by staff, but as you said it there was too little staff to do anything in the first place so its whatever
And closing words, very well made video however if i wanna add something then please keep certaint jokes in dm's i really did not need to read all that stuff when it occured so just please keep that in mind :)

Hello, I played in that tournament captaining a team called tokebac icitte. Even if we got a earlier exit than expected through tough matchups, it was very very interesting to see it from the hosts POV. Video is extremely well made, and I love the humble and humorous approach you took to word your thoughts and actions in this tournament.
Thank you for putting it a lot of work into this even if against your will.
7:00 Decided to do a tuyu themed one anyway. Even though it was tuyu themed it was mostly trying to find tuyu maps that fit and the way too long compilation for the TB. Was a 1 day tournament with a single map pool though so we didn't have that much struggles.

Hosting a tourney is a lot of work, especially if you want to Badge it. I recommend starting with a "fun“ tournament

As one of the staff for both the tournaments (Dorgez, can spot me on 0:51 lol), we kinda had a lot of problems cause we haven't had anyone that would push everything, like in the first edition that person being Emrik.
But nontheless, it was fun doing this stuff, cause we had some funny moments and I enjoyed them (Also sry for doing almost nothing both tournaments 😭)
