Yes we are building 10 metro lines at once, however since we have limited budget, these are built very slowly. Moreover since Istanbul is a historical city, we often encounter an archeological site and wait for decades for archeologists to finish the excavation.😪

There are many lessons that every country should learn from our mistakes. And that is lesson number one: as a city, you cannot build 10 metro lines all at once. I hope they complete the Tavşantepe-Tuzla line, which started on April 28, 2017. Initially, it was estimated to be finished within 34 months. However, after 61 months, they haven't even started digging the stations.

I'm proud about the Metro İstanbul. But in my opinion they planing and organisation from new lines is sometimes chaotic.
For example is a new metro planned from Vezniceler to Northern İstanbul Europe side. But in my opinion it makes more sense to let this line start at Yenikapı (1 station before) where interchange to M1 and Marmaray is possible. Or a tunnel under Bosporus to connect the future end of M8 at Kabataş with the M5 at Üsküdar to make a direct line between Europe and Asia.

These were made thanks to Erdogan and Kadir Topbas. Before their time, there was some tram lines and one slow metro line. These were all criticised by the opposition party of CHP including ALL 3 of the Bosphorus bridges, the Marmaray train line and Avrasya auto tunnel that are enabling easy transport between the continents. They always were dragged the nation's development for generations unfortunately.

That's a funicular. Meaning it's a...modified train that can climb VERY steep gradients. Basically the carriages are attached to those ropes that you can see in the middle of the two rail tracks and so it can climb just like a cableway 🚡 without slipping.

That project was shelved before the the municipal election in 2019.
In its stead the new municipal government announced Hızray/M34 (lit. FastRail) that is planned to connect the east and west with a 140km/h operating speed express metro line where every station will have at least one metro connection, with some having 3 metro connections. The idea is to shorten travel times significantly along the longest axis (east-west) of the city and letting the smaller district metros serve locally. Planned travel time from end-to-end is touted as 50 minutes, you'd be hard pressed to manage to achieve that by car even in calm hours.

@@eggygenc6621 My intention isn't to argue politics.
One of the reasons it was shelved was that it was cost-prohibitive. The tunnel would have been exceptionally wide (at least 16.8m internally) with three decks, and the metro project that's supposed to occupy the lower deck wasn't planned out fully, with the depth of the tunnel complicating nearby station construction.
Parties claim all kinds of things before an election, I don't think they'd do it when there are better things to spend the money on.
Hızray's feasibility (despite its ambitious nature) on the cost side comes from the relatively low number of stations, which is the main time and cost inflator in metro projects.
