Shaun O'Rourke it's exciting when we come across someone who is this new to BTS. They are incredible artists, known for their powerful lyrics. They produce their own music too. Many people that are new to BTS don't realize how long they've been around ( since 2013). Their fans are extremely diverse in age, they usually stereotype us as 12 yr olds, and while they do have young fans, as many artists do.....most are adults. If you go to their concerts you'll see people in their 20's, 30's, 40's+. Thank you for being open minded and reacting to the guys'. As BTS says...music transcends languages and ethnicities.💜💜 I'd like to recommend the MicDrop remix MV, and also the Fake Love MV. I'd say that's a good starting point.

They sing, rap, dance and write their own music. If you want to check more of them, I may recommend you maybe MIC DROP by BTS ft. STEVE AOKI for a nice start. Just a little reminder: avoid live performances from Korean networks or with "DVD" on the title, and anything that says it's Japanese (Japan has very estrict copyright laws), wether is live or a music video.
Anything from "Big Hit Labels" or "Bangtan TV" channels and most from "1theK" is safe from copyright strikes or blocks, but it will be copyright claimed, meaning the money from any ads will go to their music distribution company on the viewer region.
BTW a "comeback" in Korea is a new release, they don't care if last one was years ago or just a few months, so if you read they're having a comeback, it's just they're releasing a new album. If you find something that says "comeback trailer" it's probably also a music video for a whole song released some time before the whole album or mini.

You sure you wanna dive into this rabbit hole? Cause once you're in you won't be resurfacing for air for quite a while. These guys are deep. Their entire discography is its own realm with an overarching storyline, it's like the Harry Potter of pop music or something. And like the Harry Potter series, there is always a positive message that can be gleaned from their lyrics. They talk about self-respect, self-love, pursuing one's own dreams, universal love, etc. All while trying to also discover themselves through their music. Really, it's a long journey ahead and I'm just giving you a proper heads up of what you're about to commit to.

You said u watched the Grammy's... BTS performed Old Town Road with Lil Nas X this year. BTS are a Korean boy band consisting of 7 members. 4 are vocalists and 3 are rappers. This song had more of a contemporary style but BTS like to experiment with different genres and styles. These guys are versatile when it comes to their music. They could be doing a sugary pop song, then a heavily hip hop/rap influenced song, to rock then to contemporary. They've performed on SNL, Jimmy Fallon, Colbert, and many other US talk shows and award shows. They're rarely played on the radio but still have managed to get 3 #1 albums on the Billboard 200 in the U.S.

All of BTS' songs have meaningful lyrics - their entire discography since 2013 takes you on a musical journey through their thoughts and emotions and concerns at that moment in their lives. Their previous albums have been centred around topics that not many musicians talk about - criticism of the education system that stifles creativity and encourages mindless obedience, criticism of society on many levels, voicing the concerns of youths without dreams or hopes, encouraging self love and self betterment. Their music for their upcoming album (Map of the Soul: 7) is likely going to be a reflection on the light and darkness of the life they're living now as one of the most popular artists in the world.
About the lyrics of Black Swan:
Black Swan was created with dancer Marth Graham’s quote as a motif - “A dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful.” Like a dancer faces their first death when they stop dancing, the track contains the fear of the moment where BTS is no longer able to perform on the stage as an artist. In Black Swan, BTS steps into the deep, inner side of the self and faces the shadow they have been hiding. They address the fear that as they rise higher and higher, these shadows will overwhelm them to the point where they would lose their passion for music, where music will no longer be able to move them. In true BTS style, Black Swan contains mature, self-reflecting lyrics about an artist who has finally learned what music truly means to themselves.

Bts Is south Korean group, this days people prefer don't mix them with kpop. (A large story)
    1. They are 7, 4 vocalist, 3 rappers (2 underground rappers) all dancers
    2. Bts compose and produce their own music, so is very personal, they talk about mental health, politics, society, their fans, self love, etc
    3. They have a story behind their videos so is difficult to new people understand, we (the armys) have to read a several books and study set, philosophy, psychology and mythology to understand. Their last album for example was "map of the soul:persona" and is inspired by the psychologist book the map of the soul by Jung.
    4. The army love them because they are good people who through a lot of bad things to be where they are now, and even being famous they stay humble.
    5. They have a lot of genres and you can find subtitles in every possible language.

A lot of other people will have filled you in on the most important points, but I just want to stress that if you search "BTS reaction" on youtube, you'll see that they have fans of all ages, all racial backgrounds, and all over the world. This is because their appeal is really universal and the more you learn about them, the more you will come to understand (as we have) that they are much, much more than just a boyband! They are stellar performers who are deeply involved in the creative process of their own music, which contain many complex psychological and social frameworks. Behind the veneer of a pop band is an entire mythos that has inspired multiple academic conferences, journals, and books. Not only is their material entertaining and intellectually stimulating by turn, but the boys themselves are great people who are involved in many charitable and artistic endeavors. You can search CONNECT BTS for their very recent global art initiative, as well as their partnership with UNICEF and their speech at the United Nations. I guarantee that the more you see, the more astounded you will be!

For those who don't know, “Black Swan” is inspired by American dancer Martha Graham’s quote, “A dancer dies twice - once when they stop dancing, and this first death is the more painful.” Black swan is a song that expresses the loss of feeling. Though I'm not sure what genre they'll use for the songs but I'm expecting for it to have some "darkness" in it because so far from the new album we got interlude:shadow that talks about the dark side of fame while black swan talks about the fear of losing your passion. However, since they've said album "7" represents the 7 members and 7th year they are together, I'm sure there are songs that talks about their happiness they've got during their journey as artist (and pretty sure at least one song dedicated for ARMYs). Hope you check out outro:ego that comes out tomorrow! x looking forward for your reaction Shaun.

    BTS’ discography is really diverse.
If you like hip-hop, Mic Drop, Outro: Tear, and Baepsae is awesome. Their earlier music is actually like 90% hip-hop.
If you like pop, Boy With Luv, I’m Fine, and Run are good.
If you like EDM, try DNA, Idol, and Fire.
For rnb, BTS have songs like Singularity (solo), House of Cards (vocal line), and Autumn Leaves are fantastic.
And less commonly, they have also touched the rock genre with Dionysus and latin genre with Airplane pt 2.

They're experimental with their music genre. This era (album) is based on the psychoanalytic book "Jung's map of the soul" that its about the psychoid aspect of the psyche (the persona, the ego, the shadow (dark aspects of our personality that we dont accept), animus/anima, instincts, archetypes, the collective unconscious, individuation, and the self-regulating system of the psyche and more. Their first album was named map of the soul: persona and it was about the part of our personality that we choose to show to different people and situations..its not exactly our real self but its still a part of us (thats why the album was more light and happy). This album (map of the soul: 7) will be about our shadow. They sing about their fear, their dark parts of their selfs. Black swan (the song in this perfomance) is about their fear of be burned by their passion of what they love, although they can't live without music. Its hard to understand BTS content with a quick look.

The lyrics & meaning of this song is about loosing ones passion. BTS are expressing their fears of loosing their love for music, how something they enjoy & love doesn’t give them that passion anymore through this song called “black swan”. In the art film, there’s a saying they put in the beginning, “a dancer dies twice- once when they stop dancing & the 1st death is more painful” .. just like how a musician dies first when they stop creating music or a painter dies when they stops creating arts..it’s the same for every field.

No longer make my heart vibrate
Then like this may be how
      I die my first death…
Heartbeat pulsing slow in my ears
Try to flee but back into the maw
      No song affects me anymore
      Crying out a silent cry…
Ocean with all light silenced shut
My wandering feet held in a rut
Every noise and sound's been cut
Killin' me now, killin' me now
      Do you hear me
Sinking slowly like in a trance
Struggle but it's all ocean floor
      Every moment becomes eternity
Film it now, film it now
      Do you hear me …
      I think I'm goin' deeper
      I keep losing focus
No, just let go of me
Let my own feet carry me
      I'll go in myself
      In the deepest depths
      I saw myself…
      Slowly, I open my eyes
I'm in my workroom, it's my studio
The waves go darkly by in a throe
But I'll never get dragged away again
      Inside
      I saw myself, myself”

This is your first time encountering BTS so i understand your reservation and seeing them through your past boy bands experiences. I hope if you react to more you yourself will find how good they are. Subtitles helps a lot. Some songs has simple lyrics, some so layered in meaning and finessed it is almost impossible to translate and showcase their brilliance. But they always sincere and coming from their experiences, values, motivation. Catchy upbeat songs that seems like party songs sometimes hyde surprisingly really sad lyrics. But that is for you to discover, if you want to. I don't need to promote them, their music promotes them way better than i ever could.
But i just wanna point out to you, that you would need to go long and hard to find other performer who can perform song they helped create, do choreo like this while singing. Doing it with 6 other people who has to be on point and insync and who all are artists, not technically dancers. "Good" to talk about this performance is an understatement of the year.
One of the member doing this performance got kicked in a head really painfully. "I thought i will faint" he said to group member who kicked him when they were doing vlive. You can see in a video he just flinched and carried on performance like nothing happened. That is with what kind of professionals you are dealing here.
Yes technically they are a boy group, but they are different breed from boy groups in a past.

I saw that you mostly do reactions on movies and TV so i suggest you watch some of their Music Videos. You should watch Spring Day or Fake Love, they have a very cinematic feel to them (these are just what came to mind off the top of my head). You can also take a look at the videos showing the making of or behind the scenes of the music videos. They are really interesting to watch afterwards. BTS (BangTan Sonyeondan in Korean) which means BulleTproof Boy Scouts also known as BangTan BoyS a seven member South Korean Kpop Group under BigHit Company in South Korea, They became a group & friends 8+ years ago but debuted six years ago. They debuted with “No More Dream” on June 13 2013 KST but for america it was June 12 2013. My biases are Suga, V and JungKook; everything they used in their much older music videos was REAL (No CGI) just allot of editing & a few fake probs until they came out with their “IDOL” MV and so on where they’re able to use more sets and green screen. Our Golden Maknae JK had become a big brother(hyung) to Bighit‘s 2nd boy group TXT [Tomorrow by Together].

THEYRE NOT JUST SINGING OR RAPPING IN KOREAN, THEYRE SWITCHING BACK & FORTH FROM ENGLISH TOO; THEIR LEADER RM IS FLUENT IN ENGLISH EVEN WITH IT BEING HIS SECOND LANGUAGE. Yes they are really singing and rapping LIVE, they don’t lip sync during any of their live performances and they have proven it tons of times over the past 7 years. Almost every time they come to the US appearing on american shows the staff tense to always turns up the back track to make it look like they are lip syncing when they’re NOT at all which makes them work even harder to proven to everyone that they’re not lip syncing especially too people who don’t know who they are!

They are highly talented, beautiful, young men who love their fans of which there are literally millions. Their aim through their music is to spread the love you have for yourself to others in order to make the world we live in a much better place.

BTS use a lot of reference in literature, philosophy & psychology on their songs. Their recent album is based on Carl Jung’s “Jungian theory” in psychology. Their lyrics are highly poetic & inspiring (that’s why people of different ages are a fan of them). They are also incredible live performers! It’s like an ALL in one package.
Here’s a few snippets of the lyrics that I like:
“ the sun suffocates me & the world strips me naked” - 4’oclock
“I grew a flower that can’t be bloomed in a dream that can’t come true” - fake love
“Why are u hiding behind a mask, even the scars from ur mistakes makes up the constellations” - love myself
“I empty my cup but it gets filled with loneliness” - hold me tight
“It’s ok to shed the tears but don’t u tear ur self” - moonchild
    “When you called me
    I became your flower
    As if we were waiting
We bloom until we ache” - serendipity
“In the dream I shortly went into, my agonizing phantom pain is still the same. Have I lost myself or have I gained u?” - singularity
“I hear the far-away ocean across the dream, over the horizon
I’m going to the place that’s getting clearer” - Euphoria
“Shining me, precious soul of mine
I finally realized so I love me
Not so perfect but so beautiful
I’m the one I should love” - epiphany
These are just a FEW of their beautiful lyrics. All their songs are deep & meaningful with poetic lyrics 💜

Lastly.. i really love this song & lyrics ..
“Can I move on & get over all the fear?
Seems like I’m drunk in hypnosis
It grabbed and pulled me, it lead me
      Like I’m possessed by something
I can hear the voice inside of me
      The Fragments of clear future
      that can’t be touched
The arms of a new world’s dream
      embraces me
On the day to find me
      A brand new day
Go up to the stairs of light
      The moment I dream
      We know the world
Show me the world” - a brand new day
Sorry for commenting a lot.. it’s just that BTS are truly amazing Artists & amazing human being. They are humble.. their lyrics are not the only inspirational thing but they also give advices & says inspiration stuff everywhere (in concerts talking to fans, live video interactions with fans or their video log , etc)

I like how you're completely honest yet still respectful. BTS isn't just a boy band, ARMY's and BTS' have huge interactions, BTS has helped a lot of people find their own path in life, love themselves, speak themselves... they have helped a lot of people to overcome their depression and anxiety through their deep, meaningful lyrics and messages from their own experiences. Their message spreads all over the world and brings so many people together with different ages, races. BTS have healed hearts, they have saved souls. You can't describe the feeling of being an Army unless you become one.
Thank you for your reaction, I respect your opinion 💜

May I add that they are forever underappreciated!! Im from Denmark, and I know that a LOT of scandinavian and european radios still won't play their music, because BTS are a huge TREAT to western musicians and charts... They work so insanely hard, and they have to work so much more, because they are Koreans... Im so glad I found them two years ago... I want deep, meaningfull music and lyrics - not music about ass popping or getting down and dirty...

I'll tell u 'some' info about them..they are a south Korean boy band or I should call it a group that debuted in 2013..which some think that it's a pretty long time..and they have been together first when they began their pre-debut and that made them extremely close like super brothers or something like that and no.. they don't hate eachother if the did then they would come back together in a short period of time..there are seven members and if u knew BTS was supported to be a hip hop group but their CEO decided to debut them as a Kpop idol group and yes u have to do alot of research to understand what a Kpop idol is..but for now..BTS is a Kpop group but most people would rather seperate them from the Kpop genre..because they do more than that..they make music with different vibes some are hip hop some are more of RnB and it just continues till the end..basically BTS is a boy group that brought happiness to alot of people through their lives and they have always a very very strong message to the world..like loving ur self, helping people with anxiety and depression and that's what made them hella BIG but when u said that u never heard of them that made me feel a bit sad..but just to let u know..please don't have any doubts towards this group of seven lovely boys that us ARMYS admire and we won't let u down! and BTS stands for BangTan Soneondan which means in English.. Bulletproof boyscouts..it means to be resistant to bullets like criticisms and doubts and all that for the youths and grownups..and as for ARMY that's the name of the fandom..which stands for Adorable Representative MC for Youth.
Thanks ALOT for watching this it definitely means a lot to many ARMYS all over the world
"U nice keep going" and have a good day 😊

This sing was centered around the quote of martha graham " a dancer dies twice, once when he stoped dancing and this firt death is the most painful."
This song is about the fear of loosing the passion for what that love to do.
Just 2 lines from this song says, "if my heart don't vibrate, if it doesn’t resonate, maybe this is how i die my first death."

There are a lot of people that say that seven members are a lot but that's not true..in kpop groups there are more than just an average seven..there is a group that has 21 members and don't even try asking me how their fans remember all of them..I'm actually a kpop fan and support all groups and no fan wars.. please but I mostly support BTS because they are the kings of kpop😊

Their songs are barely heard on radio because it's non-English and they don't make all - English songs. They have collaborated with Halsey in Boy with Luv, Steve Aoki in Mic Drop, Chainsmokers in Best of Me, Juice Wrld in All Night, Nicki Minaj in Idol etc. Ed Sheeran also wrote the song Make it Right for them. Most songs above have music videos with ENG SUB. For songs that don't have, u may search for their lyric videos, just type the song name with eng sub at the end!

BTS started as a hip-hop type group but then start incorporating other genres into their music as they are passionate about/lovers of music and are very talented and versitle. What you may not realize is they write, compose, and produce their music, so it’s not your typical boy band. Three rappers (2 from underground hip-hop) and four vocalists. And half of them have a background or at least some training in dance. Anyway, Black Swan is new song off of their upcoming album Map of the Soul: 7 (Feb 21). This is their first performance of that song (not TV in general) is them elevating their lyrics/message through art with more of a contemporary dance feel. So they don’t typically have a mysterious dark forest with waterfall and pond dancing on barefoot lol. I suggest watching the music video for Mic Drop (Steve Aoki Remix), which is a song they are known for but not limited to it as you’ll experience when you check out more of their songs. They rap and sing in Korean with english intermixed in them. Their songs are so catchy and usually have a good beat.

  • @aunthattiesfancifulemporiu6126

I consider BTS music artists. They write & produce most of their own music. Most of their lyrics are powerful and their BEATS are hard. They sing in both English & Korean. For years they've been talking to us through their music about youth, depression, suicide, self love, etc. They don't just stand at a MIC, they put on a show, a performance. THEY are the ones doing the performing. Their lyrics are on all their official videos and click on the cc button to see the lyrics/subtitles. They SOLD OUT the Rose Bowl last year beating Taylor Swifts attendance record. You would love their shows because besides all the singing, dancing, rapping, fireworks etc, there is usually the latest technology featured in their numbers at shows. Freaking mind blowing! You should react to: 'A Crash Course in BTS" , BTS, Contribution in Music" or Nobodies to Legends2
