I resigned from a supervisor position working for a great medical organization to work a $10/hour tourist industry position which I ended up loving and worked my way to a management position. The previous organization offered me a job which I declined. Who you know is so true as two supervisors at similar work organizations in the tourist industry remembered me for my attitude and work ethics. I live in arizona, I'm a minimalist with no bills, no baggage, and I understand the cons of living in Hawaii! However, I have am opportunity to join the Honolulu police academy where the starting pay is around 68k a year.
Knowing this, and the fact I live extremely frugal (can easily live in a small studio and be happy), do you think this would be sufficient income to live on the island, and how is the police/civilian relationship there? Thanks!

Changing jobs isn’t the same as changing careers. The later is harder. My career has evolved although I work in the same industry with different companies. I actually work for different companies after several mergers that I benefited from. But staying with the same company and career is important for many reasons like salary, benefits, and retirement. Don’t take a pay cut if you change jobs unless you can anticipate surpassing your current pay and benefits.
