It's hard not to be impressed by the intellects of Sowell and Friedman. It's a pity Friedman has passed away and Sowell is in his later years...
Sowell and Friedman make good points at times but their adherence to an ideology causes them to take absurd positions at other times. In the long run the best ideas win. Today we have welfare systems in every developed country. This empirical fact refutes Friedman and Sowell.
@@GizmoMaltese the reason the welfare systems exist is because the negative income tax would put the middle man (the bureaucracy) out of the equation and would lead to mass level of govt unemployment. The bureaucrats would put highest level of friction and lobbying against such things and public trade unions would stop campaign donations. That's the real reason why welfare state exists. Govt can never spend on your needs better than yourself
