As Peter Tosh sings no matter where you come from as long as you're black man you're an African, no mind you're nationality you've got the identity you're an African....
true
Hi Karen, Somali people are indigenous to at least four African countries: Djibouti, Ethiopia, Kenya and the old Republic of Somalia. The entire former North Eastern Province of Kenya is inhabited by people who are ethnically Somali. The vast majority of the people of Eastleigh are Kenyan. In the same way you have Maasai in Kenya and Tanzania; Luo in Kenya, South Sudan, Tanzania and Uganda; Luhya in Kenyan and Uganda; Borana in Ethiopia and Kenya; the Somali are indigenous to Kenya and several neighboring states. Kenya is extremely diverse and has Bantu, Cushitic and Nilotic people, it’s probably one of the most diverse countries in terms of it’s indigenous populations. Happy trails as you get to know your new home better. Maybe one of these you should try and visit Garissa the hub of the North Eastern part of Kenya, also go West and East.
Asante❤️🇰🇪
True. Just like the Taitas and Chaga people around mt. Kilimanjaro inhabit both Kenya and Tanzania. The borders are imaginary.
yes, Somali just like Luos are found in four countries...Luos are found in Ethiopia, Sudan, Kenya and Tanzania....same number of countries as Somalis...kenya, Djibouti, Somalia and Ethiopia.
@@lorenzowere9433 Luos in Ethiopia ! How ?
@@mlionea you can do your own research..I did my own DNA and found I was mostly Ethiopian and sudanese...and looked it up, there are Luos in western Ethiopia...the annual and other Luo clans are all over Ethiopia...I don't even have a Kenyan DNA...so giving up my citizenship as we speak
They do nice work. Beautiful to see a people doing for self.
Here’s a fun fact, Somalis and other Cushitic people were first to inhabit what is now known as Kenya long before any other ethnic group from way of the Horn of Africa. Somalis are an ancient people who connected Africa with the rest of ancient world through trade. They are the only tribe that’s named after a country. The history of the African people is very rich and fascinating once you do more research on it.
Have a nice day
Weeeh you are becoming local even going for curtains in Eastleigh. Love that. It was a Muslim holiday we don't have tribal holidays in Kenya that would be over 40 holidays in a year.
😂😂😂
As a Somali, I enjoyed your video and look forward to more of your experience. Thanks for sharing your journey. Wish you the best in this life and hereafter.
Assalaamu Alaykum (Peace Be With You)
Glad to see you exploring Nairobi 👍
Spent my early childhood in Eastleigh, Nairobi.
Lots of businesses are run and owned by the Somali people.
Kenyan Somalis are from the North Eastern side of Kenya which occupies one third of Kenyan territory. Somalis are Cushitic people and are just as Kenyan as any other tribe in Kenya. Infact they are Kenya’s sixth largest tribe. The fact that you see a Somali in Kenya does not necessarily mean they are from Somalia, Ethiopia, Djibouti or Eritrea. The other Somalis come to Kenya too but as we all know boundaries were drawn that separated communities, so they are all Somali by ethnicity but they have allegiance to the countries they fall under. Many Kenyan Somalis have never been to Mogadishu/ Somalia. EastLeigh is a melting pot of Kenyan cultures and is not exclusive to Somalis but you find a large concentration of them there running businesses, but so do other Kenyan communities.
Allegiance..😂😂....I like that...there Allegiance to kenya 🇰🇪.....we are bound by loyalty...Kenya first before your tribe....
@@bikokamau1511 🇰🇪🇰🇪
@@bikokamau1511 Hahaha alliances shift all the time throughout history but your tribe or clan is your blood and will never shift to modern western creation of imaginary lines. This is basic historical facts. Also, almost all African government officials including Kenya are NOT even loyal to their own citizens due to them evading taxes and only following western orders/commands.
Big facts
I see someone has moved to a new house 🙈🙊😃
I wonder if they could have made you some pillow covers, for your furniture, with the leftover fabric.
The Kenyan🇰🇪Somalis when it comes to business this people keeps us hot 🔥 on our feets...I admire them for that....
Welcome to Kenya Karen.
There Somalis came in from Somalia as well settled here. 2 decades ago this was a filthy place laughed at but Somalis transformed it. I use this to remind ppl of kibera they have no excuse
Somalis are the 5th largest ethnic group in Kenya..out of 44 tribes. Kenya reply is a place where most Tribes came from elsewhere, especially the Bantu. East Africa is mostly Cushiness and Nilotes, before Bantus arrived from central Africa...so these Somalis are right where they belong. In Nairobi, you will find concentration of particular ethnic groups in one area...for instance, Luo in langata, Luhyas in Kawangware, etc.
Enjoyed, thanks for sharing!!!
Such nice work in a short amount of time.
Karen's world you are doing a very beautiful job congratulations 🎊
Karen dear,I am happy to see that you are enjoying and growing in Kenya 😄
Waoh. That's a skill 👏 👌
Yes it is!
🇺🇸Love you home girl🥰 just thought I'd send you a little lite humor there, about the Palm wine.🤭🤭🤗I'm also enjoying your content that you upload💯🎯 keep them coming.
👏👏👏👏 bayou buttercup congrats from chocolate city Oakland
Karen, you are doing the same thing I did as when I came to the U.S. I would look at AAs and think, that one looks like a Kamba, Luhya, etc. The first time I heard someone speak Ebonics, I thought it was some west African language, until I heard more of what was being said. There also some AA phrases that I feel could only have come from someone with a feel for African languages.
😂. It’s funny that you say that. I have a daughter who looks Kikuyu and one who looks Luhya😂If you told an AA in America that they look like they are Kamba or any other tribe they would appreciate it because we look for ways to identify with Africa.
@@KarensWorld88 another who looks a Kamba should do there DNA test in Kenya because alot of kamba were sold to the arab when chief kivoi was trading but it was not forcefully mostly the bad in the community were let to go we didn't have jail's but we will thrown out of the community and when the Arabs found you wandering they will pick up and sale you overseas, most of east African trade is not spoken of because it was of good cause like someone giving away they kids to avoid the drought not knowing that would be the last time they will see them.
I remember being there and I walked out of the store coz the lady was in the phone 📱 ☝🏿👀🤣❤️🇰🇪🇮🇸
Somalis are one of the smartest people in kenya business wise
Karen say hi to that kikuyu ladies there 😳😂
This Hakuna matata shop from Washington settle Lakewood WA I'm Kenyan doing business in USA 🇺🇸
Relax 🙂
Please Iwant curtains so nakupataje
Did they fix your furniture seat cover? It looked like they made one of the covers too small thereby leaving a gap on you sofa seat cushions.
Yes they made the covers too small. I’m making it work.
Karen ,today I found myself wondering where the hell you're.
We call them Wariah or Kenyan-Somali
Please avoid using the word Wariah..it is not taken in good context. Show some respect to the Kenyan Somali Community.
@@esem135 Iko na maana gani kwani? Hili jina tumelitumia tangu jadi saa hizi ndio laleta mchemko?
@@jamesmurag863 Uliza Wasomali vile wao huchukulia wakiitwa hivyo.
You said you don't feel like you're in Nairobi or Kenya Nairobi is the capital of Kenya so if you're in Nairobi you're still in Kenya you won't be in one without the other okay 🥰🥰🤭🤭 so lay off the Palm wine 🤣🤣🤣🇺🇸
😂😂😂
Lol I think she’s talking about the demographics that part of town is mostly inhabited by Somalis a non Bantu ppl.
Are they Bantu? Nah, may be not!
Somalis are Cushitic, not Bantu.
They are Cushites
Cushites not Bantu
Some somalians are bantu or mix bantu
They are Somalis which is an ancient Cushitic tribe that inhabited Kenya long before other settle there. Africa has a rich and fascinating history when you research it.
African Americans have misunderstood the African continent. The continent of Africa is not shared, Africa is divided into tribes. 99% of African Americans are of West African ethnic origin. Go back to your land in West Africa. African Americans You can come on holiday in East Africa and Horn Africa and North Africa but not in the land of your ethnic origin.
What foolishness are you talking about?
We are one Africa and one can live wherever they wish. Don't we have Africans living all over the world??
You are welcome to return to Mother Africa any time you wish, brothers and sisters. Pay no mind to the ignorance some may display. Karibuni sana!
I'm talking about the truth like it or not. The continent of Africa is not shared. Kenya belongs to Kenyan tribes. All of Africa is like that. Color does not work in Africa if you are African American your origin is West Africa go back to West Africa
@@abdurahmanali4374 what do you have to say about Indians who are now a tribe? You forget AA were stolen from Africa or sold by selfish Africans. Would you say the same if she was from Somalia? plz stop it or start with Chinese.
Karens World Somalis are Kenyan citizens like other tribes who live in the largest region of Kenya in the northeast . Somalis are the 5 largest tribes in Kenya in terms of land and number. Karens World, you are a foreigner, don't talk about the affairs of Kenya and their tribe and their religions . Karens World, your origin is West Africa, go back to West Africa (Nigeria) Kenya is not your land..
Man stop this unwarrant aggressive of yours. Perhaps she haven't said anything wrong here, I mean to the Somalias. We are all African, you bonehead.
Please just educate. She did not mean bad. Many people including Africans do not realize there are Kenyan Somalis.
Hey, that was a bit harsh...Karen is one of the nicest AA I've ever met, and if she's chosen to identify as Kenyan then let her be...She's not coming from a mean place
She's Kenyan just like you and me and she's got all the rights to be here and what's more she's going nowhere because she's home
@@jamesokoth6655 You are Bantu, the Bantu in East Africa are immigrants from Cameroon and West Africa. East Africa belongs to Cushitic. @james okoth Kenya is not your home, go back to Cameroon. Read the history you ignorant fool
