  • McGee is appointed to collect $50 for the Red Cross, and ends up with $100. This program is another extremely civic-minded entry, one of many during the war, that doesn't forget to be funny as well.

I've learned more about history by listening to Fibber and Molly, Gildersleeve
and the Jack Benny programs than I did in high school!👍

I love them, too. I particularly try to listen to those aired during WWII. You get insight on what daily life was like, with the various bond drives, contribution drives, and rationing.

never again will people use their imagination sitting by the radio, eyes closed, enjoying life by the Atwater Kent! Even during war times, some levity to help make life enjoyable!

Amazing, history! I remember. Need Trump to bring that back.
