Have to own up to concreting the front footwells of my badly rusting Renault 5. Couldn't afford any more Isopon at the time. It had the bonus of automatically lowering the suspension. Didn't ride any better, but looked wicked!

My parents talbot express camper rotted out on the front sills/steps when it was about 5 years old so it's amazing anythings left.
The fuel tank also rotted out around the same time dumping a tank of fuel in the road. 👍👍

To think these were so popular for motorhomes at one point. I honestly can't recall the last one I saw.

It's interesting to discover what people use for bulking out bodge repairs, there's probably still more reading matter in there to be found. I hope you're going to sweep up all that mess! 😉 Cheers 👍🏼

      More reading matter 🤣
No sweeping, I'm going to use a magnet!

we've got a rust bucket which is going to cost about 7,000 to fix. Would you like a restoration project. Actually not as bad as yours!! Most people would scrap that.

It eventually got broken for spares, but it rescued others.
      Sadly I haven't the room.

That was pretty crusty. I rebuilt all the sills on a Sherpa that had gone crusty around the edges similar to that.
I have Rascal envy seeing yours in the background.

  • @donnysweekendvanlifetravel7854

Still be some great parts for someone to keep one on the road shame but safety first all the best donny

I have only reached the first (1st) 0.40 seconds of the video and already I am saying NO it's not. Mind is and was. Bought for £3500 and I have already used! 1 x 8' x 4' sheet of 1.2mm steel. Not stopping there I am on too the 2nd sheet which is disappearing rapidly. All rot up until now has been cut out and replaced. New front wings, doors, bonnet, 100% of the hibernation area replaced, along with 100% of the wiring. Even the front floor, sill and chassis, required doing. I still haven't stopped. To the swine who pasted almost the hole van with porn mags, wig, chicken wire, wood and any thing else he could attached fillers and fibre glass to. Van looked great but boy did I learn a lesson.
Even the brake pads had been fitted inside out., gear selector shaft broke of 3 metres from home, an that was the beginning. Since purchasing the vehicle 3 years ago I hasn't moved an inch. Because I still need to keep going. Lessons to be learned, never ever believe what you are be told, or have faith in what you are being sold.

After watching this i wont be doing any patches as my neighbour had done to his Transit, they were really pretty welds though. I will have to go the cut out and repair route. If all goes well i will be keeping it.

Whats the clip in the opening credits with the mini clubman and the police car?

    • @RetroRatz
      @RetroRatz  Před 2 lety +1

We jokingly said to the shop owner, the Mini would fit through the doors!! Well it didn't by about 5mm! As we reversed out, the police pulled up! They found it very funny!!
