Let Me Be the One is a single by Exposé, released on May 15, 1987. Written and produced by Lewis Martineé and appears on their debut album, Exposure. The lead vocals on the song were performed by Gioia Bruno.
I WAS on stage with them! They were touring with Lisa Lisa when me and two friends brought roses for each girl. A very 80s moment.
Yes Esposé was the epitome of 80’s latin freestyle music. They were the unofficial queens of it!
All 3 ladies were leads. Checkout performance at The Apollo Theater, they brought down the house and that’s a tough crowd and they loved Expose performing live.
✅
@@EmpressReacts yes they slayed Apollo Theater and I'm from Apollo Theater worked there for years and I'm still amazed at how they slayed Apollo
You’re literally the only one on CZcams that has reacted to this Bop. I still listen to this while cleaning up and sing into the 🧹
Wow unbelievable ‼
I listen to Expose all the time!
Yes; I believe this group was originally from Miami.
I'm friends with Gioia Bruno who did the main vocal for this song..I met her 20 years ago at a pride fest in Ft Lauderdale..she's a really nice lady
🔥🔥vocals
I love Expose! As a teen i loved this group. This was a Big hit ! Miami sound / dance pop group. They had a string of hits from 1987 - 1993. 🔥❤️🔥
This was the jam back in the day.I got it on my IPod
You make a fabulous 4th member! Lol
😂thanks
4:14 damn, my friend. You giving me nice vocals!!
🥰thanks
This song once on the radio non stop til 92
‘Come Go With Me’ was their first major hit, but ‘Point Of No Return’ was re-recorded as they were not the original group that sung that song but it hit No.1 on the dance chart when first released.
Most DEFINITELY the MIAMI sound! Produced by Lewis A Martinee' and they performed it at the Apollo.
Expose is the shit! Love this song! The way they walk in in the beginning and do that turn! Love it! Yes they are from Miami. Their other song “when I look at him” is probably my favorite of theirs.
💯🔥
We did have the best music composers back in the 80's, they definitely knew how to make catchy songs. No wonder we're so nostalgic, all these bangers are tattooed in our minds after all these decades. I'm not sure if it's a Diana Ross poster you've got on your wall there, but I wanna suggest you react to her 80's jam, Chain Reaction. It's so goooood!🥰
It is‼And I have 😁🥰
@@EmpressReacts Have you reacted to it already? Cause I can't find it.
Yep this is that Miami sound. Empress your ears don't miss. They also appeared on Showtime At The Apollo a few times.
Okay girls‼🔥🔥
Empress - you are correct. This is considered the 80s Latin Freestyle. It was huge in Miami, New York and Los Angeles. All areas high in Latin peeps. And it took the world by storm. Expose was one of the biggest girl groups to come out of the 80s. Another group that had similar success was the Cover Girls, and they brought it in their music as well. They also had group members come and go, hence why they sound different in some of the songs. The Latin Freestyle had many groups that were just solid. Like Sweet Sensation, Johnny O, Stevie B, and Cynthia to name a few.
Ah I figured
"Point of No Return" was their big club hit.
I knew you would love this! They are AMAZING, and this song is one of my faves of theirs!
Latin Freestyle music was everywhere mid to late 80's and very early 90s.... If you love Expose , you'll love Sa-Fire , The Cover Girls, and you've already heard Lisa Lisa Cult Jam. Plus many more Noel, Sweet Sensation, Stevie B , Linear, Lisette Melendez, George Lamond , Company B, even Sheila E and Shannon are linked to this Genre of music.
Don’t forget about Timmy T.
I first heard this in the 1980s & have enjoyed it since 🎉🎉🎉!!!!!
🔥🔥
That was Late 80s right there! 1987 to be exact. I Love these Girls!! This Whole Album was Awesome! This is My Favorite Track of theirs. It just has that Sexy Feel to it.
Gioia Bruno was so damn sexy!! She was in my opinion the best vocalist, but all three girls are great respectfully.
I am jealous. I first heard this song in 1987. You're listening to this now? They are so special... Let me... be the one!
🔥🔥
I love me some EXPOSE!!!LOL.Enjoyed your reactions and you have MAGNIFICENT cheek bones!!! LOL.These women were FINE back then!! Still listen to their music even today, lifts me up when I'm down.I'm learned in LIFE you have to make yourself HAPPY!! LOL.Not your friends, not your girlfriend-YOU. LOL.
Thank u‼️And facts
Freestyle sounds that ruled the 80s, another example of why the 80s music rules...
More Expose!
Empress, if you want a really beautiful, emotional song by Expose ,then react to "I'll Never Get Over You Getting Over Me" sung exquisitely by Jeanette Jurado.
I got to go back stage in 1990 and have them all sign my t shirt when i was in college for SAB! haha so typical ahahha Gioia came out of the dressing room and saw me with the tee and asked me if i wantd the girls to sign i was like hel yeah!
Expose 1989 " What You Don't Know". The title track & "When I Looked Him"🔥My girlfriends & I went to great lengths to go to their concert!
😂wow so they were the girls
You’re right. Expose was known for their distinctive Miami sound courtesy of producer Lewis Martinee. In addition to the dance charts, this song also crossed over to R&B radio.
🔥
Yes that 'bridge' is killer.
🔥🔥🔥
Their best song...
💯💯
When I Looked at Him is a good slow jam by them
I've seen these beautiful talented ladies live, met hem, Jeanette even kissed my hand and left lip prints. I have autographs ... my fave group ever!!!!!!! So glad you're doing this reaction
So cool‼
Music videos were the thing back then and MTV had a daily countdown. I remember rushing home from school to watch this video. Poison 's I Won't Forget You and Strypers's Honestly. The best times ever Empress
Their "Point Of No Return" is great. Nu Shooz does "Point Of No Return" and it's different.
Expose has song good grooves
I think Expose had the most mainstream success of all the freestyle artists of the day. Gioia killed the vocals here!! Expose was mostly pop, but this one got some played on r&b radio too.
Got played a lot on the r and b stations
YES!
Never heard this, certainly never saw the video, i like it!! I'd call this R&B-Pop but if its called Freestyle, okay ;)
I really love this song...
🔥
You should definitely do a reaction video to Expose doing Point of No Return and use the Showtime at the Apollo performance as the video to watch. Great group.
Thanks for the recommendation
Another good one by Exposé is Seasons Change (slower vibe).
Yeah I reacted to that one
@@EmpressReacts Oops, sorry 'bout dat!
Let's get tooo it!
💯💯
Exposé was definitely part of the Latin freestyle genre. They had two faster uptempo hits ("Come Go with Me" and "Point of No Return") that was more obviously part of that sound. I actually prefer those two songs but this one is a bop too.
Latina power baby.
💯
I saw them live in the 80s when they were touring with Lisa Lisa. And I DID get on stage with them when me and two friends
Came up with roses for each girl. Very 80s moment to day the least
@@paulgrande1090 I met them once in a store called Vinylmania here in NYC when this album was released.
You also forgot "Seasons Change." That was a Good One too From the Album.
Yes Miami freestyle but went more mainstream
(2:47)....quintessential mid-tempo FREESTYLE from THE most successful Freestyle Girl Group! ...This is sung by Gioia (pronounced, 'JOY-ahhh'), the second lead Singer...peaked #7 Pop, Fall of 1987....they had EIGHT Top 10's in a row...the MOST, for any Girl Group..EVER!
Sorry, but TLC had 9 top 10 hits. I love BOTH groups!
@@donniehagy5125 ...key word being, '...in a row'.... TLC lost out, after "Hat 2 Da Back" peaked at #30, "Get It Up #42, & "Silly Ho" at #59.....s'all good, though... ; )
Ah, my mom loved them. Sadly in the early 90s..they went adult contemporary (like Gloria Estefan)...sapping them of what made them unique and fun to begin with
Dang!
Pls check Expose' on Showtime at The Apollo. They killed it!
✅
I think maybe more NYC Nuyorican vibe...i may be wrong?
It's soooooo good !!!!
Just shared your reaction with Gioia singing lead, waiting for her reaction to you! We have been soulmates for 30 years and she will tell me the truth! More Expose!
FREESTYLE FOREVER!! STILL BUMPING IN MY LAS VEGAS STREETS OOWEEE!! LOL
I'm a BreakDancer.. Popper..locker..n a freestyler.. Hip hop is my life... FREESTYLE is Latin hop hop..n I be bumping old Skool.. As well as new Skool.. In my VEGAS streets..n on da strip... Just gotta watch for Metro LMAO... Love it!!!!
I recommend Company B Fascinated with the same miami sound but more house dance oriented.
I actually have reacted to that😂
try 5 star "let me be the one" different song 808 drum machine
other 808 jams loose ends, "slow down" 'hangin on a string" sos band "just be good to me"
marvin gaye "sexual healing: jermaine jackson "dont get so personel"
Mmm my gf in the red..lol this was the only cassette I took with my head phones when I took off to Florida played both sides for 30 days then came back to CT...
😂😂
Wild story. If I remember the lead vocal on this song became a meth dealer. Her and her boyfriend. Crazy story.
Oh wow‼️
They all sing but the one on the left sings most of their songs. Listen all their music. they jam and they still singing.
Their music is part of my old school jams, i got a very awesome playlist of jams.
A better example of a slow jam by Expose is "When I Looked At Him" off of their 2nd album "What You Don't Know"
I would suggest checking out both "When I Looked At Him" and the track "What You Don't Know"
✅
80’s music was the best…
💯💯
Expose had a lot of hits in the 80s.. I don't know, Empress, about you joinin Expose for this one.. You lookin' a little more like Tony Braxton here.. I think Solo is the thing for you!
man they were so hot back then
You should react to “Point of No Return” by them.
Yes, Miami all the way!
