In this video, we look at the non-specific defence systems of the human body. These include the skin, the nose and lungs and the stomach.
This video is based on the AQA spec. If you are following a different exam board then you should check your specification. The Amazon link above is an affiliate link. My exam is tomorrow 😫
Biology tomorrow!! Sir, I have used your videos to revise for months now, and I cannot tell you how thankful I am that you have made this channel. Disease has always been my weak link, so I'm rewatching this one last minute!
this is so helpful thank you, your channel is saving me
No problem and thanks for the comment.
I had to make an essay about this. I'm 14 and Dutch, this video really helped me with it. All the Dutch videos don't explain it properly or are just people talking not very loud. Thank you sir!
No problem and thanks for the message. I'm glad to hear that my videos are being used in the Netherlands.
@@Freesciencelessons The videos you make are very helpful. Keep up the good work!
You seriously couldn't find a better picture for the nose. That's legit gonna haunt me in my dreams, I can just imagine it.
Would nails be a 'non-specific defence system' or would it just come under the same classification of skin.
It would just be counted as skin. I wouldn't recommend that you write nails in your exam. Stick to skin.
Thank you! I love the videos - they're a great help. I didn't expect such a quick reply. Thank you very much.
This came up at a 6marker on the 2019 exam, in checking to c if I got it right 😂
Oml I was soooo close to writing about the stomach but I thought I was wrong so instead I said that the mouth’s saliva kills pathogens. Also I butches the spelling of cilia and trachea like rrly badly 😂 and I forgot what the trachea and bronchi do 😬 so basically I only got marks for the nose 😂😂 well.... I got about 2-3/6 cause I got what the cilia done correct I just spelt it wrong
i love you, i have my mocks coming up and we are doing the aqa 2019 papers. anymore hints ;)
@@rubymaypedwell8691 how do you know which exam papers you are doing
Tilly ur scl should of told you, but I guess look at your textbooks might be the exam board eg; AQA , EDEXEL
@@rubymaypedwell8691 The school shouldn't really tell you what type of exams you should you. As you can cheat look up the papers online and write them on your arm.
Dont we do specimen mock papers that is 2020 and students cant get online?
Amazing merci beaucoup I understand now
thank u sir i used this in my learning about microorganisms
exam tomorrow ! lets do this guys
Thank you
Thank you so much
any tips for tackling questions which are applied as i've heard that the majority of the test includes specific examples which you have to apply your knowledge to

Thank you!
Will this be for one Pursuing a high grade! Like a 9 is it suitable for achieving the highest
All of my videos are suitable for students pursuing a 9.
@@Freesciencelessons Keep it in your pants!
@@Freesciencelessons you are the best
@@RoninxDD hahahah
do we need to know any fungal diseases for aqa combined spec?
thank sir
Would thoughts also be a non-specific defence system, for example, finding fecal matter disgusting and off putting, and make you avoid it?
No although I can see your point. The non-specific defence systems are physical barriers to pathogens rather than behaviour.
Freesciencelessons ah ok thanks for clearing that up.
you say you got a revision book but i checked your site but no information on the book
Hi. I'm going to be issuing revision workbooks in the future but I have to complete all of the 9-1 GCSE videos first. I'm about half way through.
They’re beginning to get released now. This notification at the end of his videos will be useful in future.

Nice
it’s todayyy
do we need to know about tears?
not in aqa specs
nope
I use you to revise
Why is lysozyme said to be a chemical defense of the body
isozymes are the enzymes in your tears which prevent microorganisms from entering your eye
It has enzymes which reacts with the pathogens to destroy them.
Is the non specific defense system another way of saying human defense system
No the non-specific defence system does not involve antibodies. Generally it stops pathogens from entering the body.
whos here from st georges lollll
