I had a gold crown as a kid and it was a cultural thing. In my family we all try get gold when we can because we have really weak teeth and I was told it was to reclaim that weakness and turn it into strength. And it meant that my heritage was easily identifiable. It was on a milk tooth and came out and I've had mercury and pearl since.
