    My wife and I were on vacation in Hawaii ....One of our favorite things to do on vacation , wherever we were was to go to at least one movie ...
    We had absolutely no idea what Airplane was suppose to be about ... but we decided to go see it ...... It literally was one of the highlights of our
    trip ... and I could not wait until we got home so I could see it again ...... Great memories from our 55 yr marriage ...

    Airplane is one of the few comedies I have seen in my lifetime where I can't go through a single scene without laughing hysterically. It never ever stops. From beginning to end it's absolutely hilarious.

    Even if you hate the Bee Gees, this song is just too infectious - it's impossible not start dancing to it. It's perfectly suited to a right-laugh sequence like this.

      I saw it a few times when it was released. You’re right, the audience were in hysterics.
      It took me a few times seeing it to notice that when they showed the ‘outside’ shots of the Boeing jet flying through the clouds…..there was the drone of propellers in the background😆 Something new each time you watch it, even when you think you’ve spotted everything.
      A classic movie that started a whole trend.

    This is one of the best scenes of one of the best comedies of all time. "Airplane!" has been named to so many top ten lists that it boggles the mind. It's one of those comedies that NEVER stops being funny. "Galaxy Quest" is another example. If you watch it four times in four days, you stop laughing at the jokes. But if you watch it four times a year, you laugh every time.

    I remember like it was yesterday. The movie was just released and me and a bunch of friends went to local theater to see what everyone was talking about, we ended up going 6 more times within 2 weeks. This is classic comedy overload.

    Me and my dad rewatched this together for the first time since we watched it like 10 years ago.
    This was the hardest I’ve laughed during that time since that first viewing.
    And this was the scene we lost it. The preposterous amount of smoke and the escalation of the insanity of their dance moves is amazing. She’s laughed so high she was airborne for like 10 seconds 😂😂😂😂😂

      stosh21 You're right about that, but didn't you know the Academy of Motion Picture fArts and Sciences are very much above awarding Oscars for comedy performances? They'd rather give Best Actor for some boring depiction of an emotionally-weak man who's worried that he's no longer young or not sufficiently politically-correct.

      Supporting awards are often more accepting of comedy performances and Whoopis Oscar was a consolation for "The Color Purple". The Academy is notoriously known for giving consolation awards for overlooked performances in the past which in turn deprives the true winner of that year. Its horrible

    You have to have seen 'Saturday Night Fever' to get this.
    I remember taking my wife to see this film - I had seen SNF, she hadn't. I was rolling around, crying with laughter - she sat stoney faced: 'what's funny about that ?'

    Airplane 1 and 2 both CLASSICS! 2 was on tv a few weeks ago I hadnt watched them in a few years. I watched it and never laughed so much! They are still hilarious ! really funny and better than most of the so called comedy movies these days! They have stood the test of time. Total Classics well wrote and acted!

    That moment when he's throwing his jacket (with the comic book sound) and someone immediately throws it back into his face - I'm laughing so hard I'm crying 😂😂

    I think that some of errors - i.e. seeing the wires and Robert Hayes hiding in the background while the stuntman flips over - was purposely shown to add to the absurdity of this scene!

      I don't think the wires were meant to be seen thats just the kind of special effects we had in those days and they just did the best they could to hide them. I think I heard somewhere that no one had caught it in editing that Robert could be seen waiting in the background and when they did it was too late.

      Amar7605 Yes at 2:58 you can see Robert hiding before jumping out plus the fake knife in the guys back, you can see some square object it was stuck into. Either way, it makes this funny movie even better!

    I watched this film for the first time a few days ago.

    I first saw this film in 1996 when I was 15 and I'm still finding things today that make me laugh. I've never seen Saturday Night Fever but after seeing the 'you should be dancing' scene with his hands I can't stop laughing....bloody genius!!!!

    Watched this film in India, Serbia, Greece, and Bulgaria within 18 months. Released with different titles.
    Still, after 37 plus years, I am in awe. Probably the best comedy ever made.
    Can't be produced today due to PC
