I think there was a time where high-end out performed drug store makeup but those days are long gone. I have foundations that are $65 in my makeup kit but I keep finding myself going back and forth in between my $8 ELF foundation and my $10 Catrice foundation. The Elf one is newer but I love it. It used to be that I would use it everyday and save my Armani Luminious Silk foundation for special occasions but two weeks ago I went to a formal birthday party and decided to use the Elf over the Armani and my makeup looked great and held up all night and photographed very well. I think this is the last bottle of Armani Luminous Silk I’m ever purchasing. It doesn’t make much sense to me now.
I'm a retired registered nurse. I just turned 70. I needed new makeup for my sons wedding. And an updated look. Thank you, Risa for leading me in the right direction. I also live in Vegas. 😊
Risa has been such a help to me as I was using less and less makeup. I have gone and looked at her older tutorials. I was not using any powder…and that was a big game changer….and I am getting compliments that I look 15-20 years younger than my 73 years. Also eyelashes has been a big help. When my hair turned white so did my lashes. Now they are a part of my everyday makeup routine. I realized I was just lazy….now I feel a lot more confident! I applaud you for ranging out across the cosmetic spectrum. At one time we could use our ‘holy grail’s’ regularly,but with prices increasing,it’s lovely to have alternatives,to use for work or running errands. I would love you to do a side by side of your holy grail high end and drugstore make up. It just proves the point that you can look and feel beautiful if need be on a budget. As a side note. Have you tried the new Lady Gaga Haus Labs foundation?Ive ordered it,and it’s due in a couple of days.Would love your thoughts on it. x

I love the huda brow pencil. I do not have issues with it breaking but i go through it so so fast. I've been loving the benefit new micro detailer and it hasn't broken either.
I just bought the L’Oréal setting spray to a very hot wedding and my makeup stayed in place I love this stuff will not even by CT anymore thanks for the suggestion

Hi Risa! Just wanted to give my compliments on this updated drugstore makeup must-have video! As always, you look radiant and lovely. I did have a sort of (unsolicited, lol) nomination in the much-underappreciated category of tools, that being the new Eco-Tools Blurring Blender duo makeup sponges ($9.99 for set of 2) that I just found at Ulta. The main selling point of these is that they basically '"eat less makeup", have (in my humble opinion, at least) an ideal texture, shape and combination of bounciness while maintaining sturdiness, and because of whatever technology it's lesser absorption of makeup to the surface of the sponge is attributed to, they are a breeze to clean, not even requiring a heavy duty household brush/sponge cleanser like my go-to Dawn green apple antibacterial dish soap. Since these naturally don't get quite as all gunked up with foundation and concealer as say, a typical Real Techniques orange sponge or the ELF variety that I quite like, these just required a pump of Dove liquid moisturizing hand soap and a brief scrub and rinse and then the great part becomes evident: faster wash time, easier, more complete rinsing and virtually NO spot cleaning needed=a longer lasting makeup sponge that "stays new [looking] " longer with less tendency to tear or split. And just the lightest dampening gives you the ability to kinda just dunk the tip or flattened surface into your foundation (what I use a beauty blender most for, but should apply across the board here for all liquid/cream products) and bounce your way to smooth, impossibly flawless sheered out coverage, which of course, is also buildable. Highly recommend these, especially for those like me whose face consumes enough excess product as it is (and I'm, like you, a "true" oily, mature skin type. Last note: I informally suggest, while we're on the topic of drugstore and underrated, that Revlon's Colorstay Grip primer is a possible more affordable dupe-like alternative to the Smashbox Photo Finish primer line, and actually though I love Smashbox, I think the Revlon blurs pores and mattifies even a little better! xoxo Jen

Off this video’s topic, but you have reawakened my love for Estée Lauder double wear. It was in the back of my foundation tray, and I started to wear it again. My face runs dry to normal and this foundation never settles onto dry patches or creases on my face. Going to try the Milani foundation too. Thanks Risa!

I've heard complaints about the elf lip pencils lack of longevity but i haven't noticed it. I pretty much use lip pencils on my entire lips for color and a balm or oil on top. Everything wears off that way lol

Maybe I'm just used to it, but I think l'oreal improved the smell of the setting spray; It used to be overpowering. But now I don't notice it at all, and I absolutely LOVE it!

Very shortly, my budget will be changing due to retirement. I still want to feel pretty and good about myself. Thank you so much for recommending the L’Oréal setting spray! I was using a glow lotion on my chest and was having to get tops dry cleaned to get it out. I’m getting this today 🙏! Also, the past two months I’ve been using the Morphe Rose Gold palette and I’m obsessed with it ❣️. I have the I Need a Nude palette but loving the Morphe palette. Buying the gold one next.
I love this!! I have LITERALLY 4 brow hairs (so using the color or laminating products are moot point for me), and have to create brown hairs- I end up looking like just a stamped brow powder look. It’s not attractive.
I was reading reviews for the L’Oréal Setting Spray on Amazon and had to laugh because someone reviewed it and apparently thought it was a hairspray. They talked about the hold it had on their kids hair 😂 I was like jeesh! Like it literally says setting spray. I guess if you’re not someone really into makeup, you could think that means like setting spray for hair? But all the info and product pics are talking about it or showing it being used on the face. But it gave me laugh anyways 😂😂 Sometimes reading Amazon reviews can give a good laugh….other times I want to pull my hair out when reading some of them 😅 Anyways, thanks for the info on it! ❤

Risa get some peels for your chest . You can also use peter Thomas roths pumpkin peel or juice beauty full strength peel . I'm consistent and use them twice a week and it's helped a lot. Or there's Lazer or a series of glycolic peels at a salon for your chest

Thank you so much for recommending the L’Oréal setting spray! I was using a glow lotion on my chest and was having to get tops dry cleaned to get it out. I’m getting this today 🙏! Also, the past two months I’ve been using the Morphe Rose Gold palette and I’m obsessed with it ❣️. I have the I Need a Nude palette but loving the Morphe palette. Buying the gold one next.

I love this!! I have LITERALLY 4 brow hairs (so using the color or laminating products are moot point for me), and have to create brown hairs- I end up looking like just a stamped brow powder look. It’s not attractive.

I was reading reviews for the L’Oréal Setting Spray on Amazon and had to laugh because someone reviewed it and apparently thought it was a hairspray. They talked about the hold it had on their kids hair 😂 I was like jeesh! Like it literally says setting spray. I guess if you’re not someone really into makeup, you could think that means like setting spray for hair? But all the info and product pics are talking about it or showing it being used on the face. But it gave me laugh anyways 😂😂 Sometimes reading Amazon reviews can give a good laugh….other times I want to pull my hair out when reading some of them 😅 Anyways, thanks for the info on it! ❤

Risa get some peels for your chest . You can also use peter Thomas roths pumpkin peel or juice beauty full strength peel . I'm consistent and use them twice a week and it's helped a lot. Or there's Lazer or a series of glycolic peels at a salon for your chest
Go that way, very fast, if something gets in your way, turn. My fav John Hughes movie.
