We honor prophet Muhammad saw , not idolize him. He is an example for us to follow.
We dont idolize him rather follow his ways, therefore its important to always learn about him. I am a med student, I can read all the books about diseases and the human body, but without a mentor and a teacher, i will not understand the become that best version of the docter that I can be. I need to have a clear cut guide in every aspect of life, Allah has sent the prophet Mohammed (peace be upon him) for us to learn from him, as God says the quran in 24:54 "Say, "Obey Allāh and obey the Messenger; but if you turn away - then upon him is only that [duty] with which he has been charged, and upon you is that with which you have been charged. And if you obey him, you will be [rightly] guided. And there is not upon the Messenger except the [responsibility for] clear notification."

The reason y u think we idolise the prophet is because u look at our religion from your religious and cultural lenses. We dont pray to him..we dont worship him.. but we respect and love him like how we respext and love our parents or even more. If people talk shit about my parents i will get angry..so if i say i love the prophet..i feel angry the same way when people make fun of my prophet.. i mean imagine someone make fun of your mother and slander her…and then when u responded angrily people accuse u of oppressive towards freedom of speech… and even saying u idolise your mother…😅

It's not idolizing the prophet is following the prophet as a role model as an example for humanity
Allah says: say (O' Muhammad [tell them the believers]) if you love Allah then follow me (so) Allah will love you and forgive your sins....
(Qur'an 3:31)
If you want to love Allah you have to follow prophet Muhammad and follow his teaching whatever he taught was not from him but as a type of revelation from allah (Qur'an 53:03)
