- I Built A TREEHOUSE For My Cats! I build my cats Ralph and Bella a large catio, including shelves, climbing platforms, a bubble dome, hammocks, tents, and a cat-sized treehouse!

I know free-roaming outdoor cats are a major point of contention, especially in the UK, so I really do applaud the effort you've put in to make sure your cats can enjoy fresh air safely. I really wish more people would treat their cats like family members the way you do, and keep their safety and happiness both in mind as opposed to letting them run off and do damage to themselves and the environment. The catio looks awesome and I'm sure Ralph will grow to love it as much as Bella already does!
Honestly I'm too lazy to read all of this but just from your first sentence I agree with what you say and acknowledge the time and effort of writing such a long script even though it must have been very tedious and time consuming to do.
I let my cat go outside during the day but keep him in at nights. I'd never have an only-indoor cat, I strongly believe cats are much happier and healthier being able to enjoy the outside. I also believe very much in safety, so I very consciously chose a place to live where there are no road, no cars, plenty of shrubs and no dangerous predators around. I live on the outskirts of a bigger town, and I chose this place for my cat as well as myself. If you are serious about owning a cat, you'll need to live accordingly to that. Take responsibility and let your cat enjoy safe surroundings. The fact that he comes whenever I call for him means he's happy and content with me and the life we live together. He sleeps in my bed every night.

Nice cateo! I'd recommend you add some surfacing material to the wood platforms to provide grip. Same for the ramps... way more useful than those plastic climbing handholds that animals will avoid walking on. I'd suggest using something somewhat thick-ish so the cats can sink their claws in if necessary... so outdoor carpeting, synthetic turf, perhaps even cork or rubber (though rubber might get hot). This would be especially important for the high up sleeping platform. Say if the cat rolls off the edge or takes a misstep in the wet. They'll be able to sink their claws into the platform to avoid falling. I'd also recommend adding a small 2-inch lip to the upper sleeping shelf. It'll just provide an additional level of security while sleeping... like if rollover or stretch/spread-out while half asleep.
Agree. The steps and platforms look too slick. Maybe use something like reclaimed barn wood for more grip.

As a cat owner that recently adopted 2 black cats (and yes, i called tgem ralph and tom) I can agree that they loved this video! :))
I love this. My cats have a screened in porch which they love, but it isn't as innovative as this catio. I noticed Bella is back in her doughnut, I hope she is ok and that Ralph is feeling better soon.

For the rain I wanted to suggest a big metal thing over the top like in the first catio but then again the sun is needed, but the walls of the catio will still give off sunlight, for the tree branches get a thing people use to trim trees (if that even exists) to make it more like a cylinder or just a long circle.
Oh the sail as a roof is actually rather cute! Gives it a bright, warm camping vibe 🤗
The catio is also so pretty! The green plants on the dark wood and mesh are just so aesthetically pleasing.
I suspect a cat will sleep on top of the sail. It's like an oversized hammock.

I have an elderly kitty with only three legs. As she has gotten older I have made changes to her cat perches.
1) Make steps deeper and closer together and add carpet or gripper strips. This makes the kitties feel safer and easier for them to maneuver especially as they get older. On a slooping board add small strips of wood every couple of inches.
2) On the boards used as walkways, make them wider/deeper. Also add some gripper strips.
3) Make the perches bigger so both cats can lay on them. Put on edge on the perch, 4inch or so, for them to lean against. Not where the walkway comes into it, and does not have to be on the whole perch. Again will make them feel safe.
4) What humans think is cool and what cats think is cool are two different things. Cats don't like swinging things, except toys.
My two cents. You have lucky cats that you can make them a cataco. And yes, they need a roof 😊

reminds me of my Bengal cats. Stormy and Misty they are my favourite little senior cats! They Both Are light weight Mistys A Snow Bengal And Stormy Is An Marble Bengal! They are Twins From The Same Family They were born on the same date as eachother! They've Lived a long life Together! Stormy And Misty! Today there is only one of them but Misty Is Always Here With Her Sister and all of us she is watching!
I have never seen a cat so happy and I'm wishing that that is always the mood of the the cats that I am hoping to adopt this year

If it were me i would definitely bring more actual nature into the enclosure. Grass, Flowers, Bushes.
I would probably also make a tunnel that went all around the garden, so they have a lot of movement.

Idea for the roof: a material that’s clear so the cats can still look above the catio! Like a clear plastic or something.
When the world needed him most, he returned.
My black kitty Mio died on the 18th of September. He was the sweetest boy ever. It was so nice watching your kitties. You’ve done a great job. ❤️❤️❤️and I hope Ralph will feel better soon ❤️❤️❤️

For the roofing solution, you should put a clear glass/plastic sheet or whatever over top. It would allow Ralph and Bella to see all the nature, let light in, and give a really cool effect when it rains. Just a suggestion though.

congrats on the new house! it looks lovely. I think youshould put panels of plywood around the bubble window (flat against the wall, next to it) so bella can feel like she's hiding in her little hunting cabin. i think she likes being a little spy in that window, watching her birds and things. Maybe even move it a little higher and put plywood beneath and above, so she can really be a full out ambush hunter!

about the extenction in the corner, you should add a glass tube into a semi-flat area that goes up the wall, with platforms semi-randomly scattered around. i think that would be cool.
