Star power, star quality, major shaper of the decade (80s), larger than life persona, multi-talented, not to be denied the greatness she ultimately attained despite setbacks and hardships. And, oh, I forgot to mention, what a gorgeous song and superb performance.

Oooooo one of my favorite songs of Janet’s and it means the world to me, as like her, I’ve lost many friends to HIV +AIDS in the 90s. I listen to this song and see their faces and remember the good times we had in my head. You should also do a reaction to the Go Deeper remix of the song. It also has a beautiful video that is completely different from the original.

Thanks for reacting. This has always been my favorite song by Janet. During my bodyguard days my company had a party in her honor at the Chrysler building here in New York and I told her that this was my favorite song by her and she told me I had great taste in songs.

Janet's "you want this" is a great one. Plus her early start "young love" not sure if there is a video to YL. Plus some Vanessa Williams "Darling I" "Dreaming" her upbeats songs "comfort zone" "right Stuff" "Running back to you". Taylor Dayne "With ever beat of my heart" Karen White "superwoman" The way you love me" "Secret Rendezvous" "Romantic. Jody Watley "Don't you want me" " most of all" 'for the girls" "Real love"

The video was actually filmed in California, but made to look like they were in the Serengeti in Africa. Fun Fact: some of MJ’s animals from his zoo at Neverland were used for the video.

A very wild reaction 🦣🦒🦅🐆🦜🐒🦁! It was filmed in LA. I see 👁👁 you have reacted to Janet Jackson before: If, The Pleasure Principle, Alright, Black Cat, Let's Wait Awhile, Nasty, Anytime Any Place, I Get Lonely, Miss You Much, Control, When I Think Of You, What's It Gonna Be!?, That's The Way Love Goes, Got Til It's Gone, All For You, All For You- Live, Rhythm Nation, Rhythm Nation- Live, You Want This, Love Will Never Do (Without You), Scream, Call On Me, Son Of A Gun (I Betcha Think This Song Is About You), What Have You Done For Me Lately, Go Deep, Runaway, Because Of Love, Together Again Live @ AMA, Doesn't Really Matter, Escapade and Rock With U.
Together Again was released as the second single from Janet Jackson's 1997 album: The Velvet Rope. It was written by Janet Jackson, René Elizondo, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. It was produced by Janet Jackson, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. The song reached #1 on the Hot 100, #1 on the Dance Club chart, #5 on Mainstream Top 40 chart, #8 on the R&B chart and #29 on the Adult Top 40 chart. "Together Again" was certified Platinum by the RIAA. The single sold six million copies worldwide. Janet Jackson, in order to promote her album: The Velvet Rope, and the single: "Together Again", she performed the single: "Together Again", at the 1998 American Music Awards.
The music video was directed by Seb Janiak and choreographed by Tina Landon. It was filmed in Los Angeles, California, with her brother Michael's giraffe and elephant being used for the shoot; the giraffe got away during the shoot, but it was found afterwards. Another music video was released for the "Together Again Jimmy Jam Deeper Remix". It was directed by René Elizondo Jr. The video depicts Janet Jackson in an apartment remembering a lost lover, with the singer commenting that "there's a butterfly that's throughout the video that represents the spirit" of this lover.
"Together Again" was written as a tribute by Janet Jackson to a friend who had recently died of AIDS, as well as AIDS victims and their families worldwide, as stated in the liner notes of The Velvet Rope (1997). In the album's liner notes to the album, Janet Jackson names her fallen friends: Dominic, George, Derrick, Bobby, Dominic, Victor, José and wrote: "I miss you, and we will be together again". A portion of the single: Together Again, six million worldwide sales were donated by Janet Jackson to The American Foundation for AIDS Research.
The song: "Together Again", musical sound was inspired by Donna Summer's 1978 song: "Last Dance". Janet Jackson told MTV News that part of her inspiration to write the song: "Together Again", was the song: "Runaway", by Nuyorican Soul, as the song reminded her of being in Studio 54 in New York when she was a child. As well as, she was inspired to write the song by a piece of fan mail she received from a young boy in England who had lost his father.
Janet Jackson performed the song (the DJ Premier 50 To 100 Remix) live at the 1998 American Music Awards.
    Critical Reception 🗣:
BBC deemed it a "thumping great hit, an old-fashioned piece of professional dance music, played perfectly".
Larry Flick from Billboard magazine called it a "gorgeous disco ode to loved ones lost to AIDS-related illnesses". Janet Jackson "has clearly been studying Donna Summer records, delivering a wonderfully nuanced performance that takes firm command of the track's vibrant house beat without sacrificing an ounce of emotion".
Music critic Joey Guerra from The Daily Cougar stated, "Jackson pours her heart into "Together Again," which builds to an ecstatic house beat" which takes "a cue from the soaring melodies of '60s girl groups". He further commented that the song is "genuine happy-feeling. It sounds lame at first but pay attention to what she's singing; that vocal smile changes everything".
British magazine Music Week gave it four out of five, noting, "Contrasting sharply with the subtle groove of its predecessor, this is Janet at her most commercially accessible with a dance anthem full of big beats and a tasty hook".
Jon Pareles from The New York Times described "Together Again" as "a creamy Diana Ross homage", noting that Jackson "deploys her small voice shrewdly" in it.
Danyel Smith, while interviewing Jackson for Vibe magazine in November 1997, elaborated that the song was a big, perfect ode to Donna Summer, and likened it to her songs: "MacArthur Park" and "Last Dance".
    Lyrics 🗒:
    There are times
When I look above and beyond
There are times when I feel your love
    Around me, baby
    I'll never forget my baby
    (I'll never forget you)
There are times when I look above and beyond
There are times when I feel your love around me, baby
    I'll never forget my baby
    When I feel that I don't belong
Draw my strength from the words when you said
    "Hey, it's about you, baby
    Look deeper inside you, baby"
    Dream about us together again
What I want us together again, baby
I know we'll be together again, 'cause
    Everywhere I go
    Every smile I see
    I know you are there
    Smilin' back at me
    Dancin' in moonlight
    I know you are free
'Cause I can see your star
    Shinin' down on me
    (Together again, ooh)
    Good times we'll share again
    (Together again, ooh)
    Makes me wanna dance
    (Together again, ooh)
    Say it loud and proud
    (Together again, ooh)
    All my love's for you
Always been a true angel to me
    Now above
I can't wait for you to wrap your wings around me, baby
    (Wrap them around me, baby)
    Wrap them around me, baby
    (Wrap them around me, baby)
    Sometimes hear you whisperin'
"No more pain, no worries will you ever see, my baby"
    (Ever see, my baby)
"I'm so happy for my baby"
    (Happy for my baby)
    Dream about us together again
What I want us together again, baby
I know we'll be together again, 'cause
    Everywhere I go
    Every smile I see
    I know you are there
    Smilin' back at me
    Dancin' in moonlight
    I know you are free
'Cause I can see your star
    Shinin' down on me
    Oh, I get it
    Oh, I get it
    (Together again, ooh)
    Good times we'll share again
    (Together again, ooh)
Ooh, it makes me wanna dance
    (Together again, ooh)
    Say it loud and proud
    (Together again, ooh)
    All my love's for you
There are times when I look above and beyond
There are times when I feel you smile upon me, baby
    I'll never forget my baby
What I'd give just to hold you close as on Earth
In Heaven we will be together, baby (be together, baby)
Together again, my baby (together again, my baby)
    Everywhere I go
    Every smile I see
    I know you are there
    Smilin' back at me
    Dancin' in moonlight
    I know you are free
'Cause I can see your star
    Shinin' down on me
    Everywhere I go
    Every smile I see
    I know you are there
    Smilin' back at me
    Dancin' in moonlight
    I know you are free
'Cause I can see your star
    Shinin' down on me
    Janet Jackson Info 📰:
Janet Damita Jo Jackson was born on May 16, 1966 in Gary, Indiana. She is a singer, songwriter, producer, actress, and dancer. She is noted for her innovative, socially conscious and sexually provocative records, as well as elaborate stage shows. Her sound and choreography became a catalyst in the growth of MTV, enabling her to rise to prominence while breaking gender and racial barriers in the process. Lyrical content which focused on social issues and lived experiences set her reputation as a role model for youth.
In her early career, Janet Jackson credited her brothers Michael and Jermaine Jackson as musical influences. According to Rolling Stone and MTV, other artists she attributed as influences include the Ronettes, Dionne Warwick, Tammi Terrell, Diana Ross, Joni Mitchell, Chaka Khan, Lena Horne, Stevie Wonder, Teena Marie, Prince, Parliament-Funkadelic, Roger/Zapp and Tina Turner.
The tenth and youngest child of the Jackson family, Janet Jackson made her debut at the MGM Grand. She starred in the variety television series The Jacksons in 1976 and went on to appear in other television shows throughout the 1970s and early 1980s, including Good Times, Diff'rent Strokes and Fame. After signing a recording contract with A&M Records in 1982, she became a pop icon following the release of her third and fourth studio albums Control (1986) and Rhythm Nation 1814 (1989). Her collaborations with record producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis incorporated elements of rhythm and blues, funk, disco, rap, and industrial beats, which led to crossover success in popular music.

In 1991, Janet Jackson signed the first of two record-breaking multimillion-dollar contracts with Virgin Records, establishing her as one of the highest-paid artists in the industry. Prior to her first studio project with Virgin, she appeared in her first of several lead film roles in Poetic Justice (1993). Her two studio albums which followed: Janet (1993) and The Velvet Rope (1997), saw her develop a public image as a sex symbol. These records, along with their promotional music videos and live performances in concert tours, branded Janet Jackson as one of the world's most erotic performers, garnering both criticism and praise. By the end of the 1990s, she was named by Billboard magazine as the second most successful recording artist of the decade in the United States after Mariah Carey. The release of her seventh studio album All for You in 2001 coincided with a celebration of her impact on the recording industry as the subject of the inaugural MTV Icon special.
The backlash from the 2004 Super Bowl XXXVIII halftime show controversy resulted in an industry blacklisting under the direction of Les Moonves, then-CEO of CBS Corporation. Janet Jackson subsequently experienced reduced radio airplay, televised promotion and sales figures from that point forward. After parting ways with Virgin Records, she released her tenth studio album: Discipline (2008), her first and only album with Island Records. In 2015, she partnered with BMG Rights Management to launch her own record label, Rhythm Nation and released her eleventh studio album Unbreakable the same year. Since then she has continued to release music as an independent artist.
Janet Jackson has sold over 100 million records, making her one of the world's best-selling music artists. She has amassed an extensive catalog, with singles such as "Nasty", "Rhythm Nation", "That's The Way Love Goes", "Together Again" and "All For You"; she holds the record for the most consecutive top-ten entries on the US Billboard Hot 100 singles chart by a female artist with 18. She is also the only artist in the history of the chart to have seven commercial singles from one album (Rhythm Nation 1814) peak within the top five positions. In 2008, Billboard placed her number seven on its list of the Hot 100 All-Time Top Artists and in 2010 ranked her fifth among the "Top 50 R&B/Hip-Hop Artists Of The Past 25 Years". In December 2016, the magazine named her the second most successful dance club artist after Madonna. One of the world's most awarded artists, her accolades include five Grammy Awards, eleven Billboard Music Awards, eleven American Music Awards, a star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame and eight Guinness World Records entries. In 2019, she was inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Janet Jackson is the only artist with three studio albums: Control (1986), Rhythm Nation 1814 (1989) and Janet (1993), with at least five Top 10 US singles each. Her album: Rhythm Nation 1814, landed a remarkable seven singles in the Hot 100 Top 5- a feat not even her brother Michael Jackson matched.
Janet Jackson still performs her music live on stage in 2024.
