"Kidney Now" Song - 30 Rock
• "Kidney Now" Song | 30...
Cyndi lauper:"I'm one of the drunk ones" hahahaha 😄😄😄
❤❤❤
Tina Fey's husband writes all the songs and I gotta say, this is a good one. It always gets stuck in my head for a couple days after I hear it.
Milton green Milton green Milton GReeEENnn
Same here!
oh yah eh? That's awesome! It's SO good lol!
Yup, Jeff Richmond. He composed all of the music for 30 Rock (including the opening theme song), and also directed a few episodes!
"what are you talking about its may" is such a great joke
Why
@@martinamilcardiuzabonilla1618 I think because this was the season 3 finale, and the TV season ends in May, hence "We sure had quite a year".
@@thomasm33996 it's also a nod to an earlier episode when she says "what a week, uh?" And he replies "What are you talking about Lemon, it's Wednesday"
I'm still waiting for Adam Levine to give me a dollar.
He’s at a payphone
If he had two he’d give you one
Still saving up I imagine
he only has one 😢
He DID say “…wouldn’t I??”
That’s on you buddy. Got played
"Tha leaves about 300 Million Kidneys,
Do the Math!"
Kills Me Every Time!
I've watched this a dozen times at least and I'm just this one time noticing this 🤣
I’d love to know the story behind how they managed to get all those legends together to do a bit like this. I love how over the top this show will go for a good joke.
Eric Yongue All they did was ask. The only one who was tough was Elvis Costello, just because of timing. But Tina asked him at an Oscars afterparty and he was down. They all did it for free.
@@aresef Except for Sheryl
Lovisa Johansson ahahahaha
Cyndi was drunk when they asked.
Here is the video for the behind the scene story about the kidney song
czcams.com/video/O_aB8_7LLag/video.html
Note: if the link doesn't work somehow the video is called "Jeff Richmond on the '30 Rock' Kidney Song, Live on Soundcheck" from The Greene Space at WNYC & WQXR.
The Beastie Boys (2/3rds anyway, RIP) logic is flawless. Perfection.
I couldn't take this seriously until the middle, when they started talking. 🤣🤣🤣
🤣🤣🤣
It's a crime how this song in not available on Spotify
Mary J. Blige stands out in every crowd, what a talent!
Was anyone else watching the 4th episode of The Umbrella Academy and heard them say Milton Greene, and immediately thought of Cyndi Lauper singing "Milton Greene, Milton Greene, Milton Greene, Milton Greene, Milton Greeeeeeene"?
Yes the lady who says no ones getting paid is cha cha or Mary j bilge
They weren’t?
Taffy butt! She sang taffy butt!
It was the fifth episode.
The "Milton Greene Milton Greene Miltom Greene" part goes through my head at least once a day
If you had two heads you'd wish you had one, how is this different? 🤣🤣
My respect for every musician involved in this skyrocketed
Jane krakowski has some pipes on her.
Why does Jenna actually sound AMAZING when she pops in?
Because Jane krakowski is actually an amazing singer who does Broadway. She is able to play Jenna as a bad singer because Jane is good.
@@porksterbob And Jenna is never a BAD singer - just a HAM. (or should I say a "ha-ay-am!")
I still can't believe Adrock and Mike D are part of this clip... F***ing legends!!
I came here specifically for them... I've gotten my 9 year old into some of their more "tame" stuff... and he wanted to see them on 30 Rock
I LOVE when they do a follow up to this 🤣 'jack is a good kid, he got me a kidney...from elvis costello' 🤣🤣🤣
I laughed like a maniac 😂😂😂
“What are you talking about? It’s May” hahaha I almost spit my drink haha
I hate that they tried to keep Jenna from singing when this was her idea. Go get it, girl.
I just discovered this song! I gave my Dad a kidney 9 days before this song aired. Lol!
@@elizabethe9455 He is!
Cyndi is just amazing. Even in this parody song, her voice along with the gentleman next to her is so uplifting and powerful. Lmao this got me teary
I think that’s Wyclef Jean
@yerb It's Robert Randolph. Wyclef Jean is standing with Steve Earle and Michael McDonald.
I remember listening to the DVD commentary of this episode from the Season 3 box set and apparently the verses Cyndi sings here with Robert Randolph was her idea since she said they used something similar when she did "We Are the World."
It gets me teary too! So much emotion. That's the beauty of this.. it's a joke, but taken so seriously:)
❤
Elvis Costello.
We are not worthy.
This song is so brilliant, every singer in this was lucky to participate
I did not see this show when it first aired, but I've been binge watching this on Peacock. And I've been laughing so hard that my husband's had to come out of his office ( he's working a covid job to keep from going cray cray ) to ask me to hold it down with the donkey laffn. But, I don't know why but often the musical part ( like the body guard take off ) will get me boo hoo'n. I'm a tough old bird now with the cantankerous nature of a badger. Didn't even know I could tear up this much any more at funerals ( which I duck as much as possible lol ). Alec's face at 2:21 is just so precious. I'ma go hug my teddy bear now. LOL
1:11 Damn I love that vibrato to Cyndi when she says Green. Perfection
the drunk crazy look at 2:12 she gives is awesome too. IMO.
This never gets old. I’m just in awe of the genius. “A hand would be an even harder thing to give” my my MVP line. Also “except for SHERYL!”
What is most funny yet is that he ends up with Elvis Costelos kiddney
Beastie boys !!!
And Talib Kweli!!! Shoutout to 30 rock hiring real rappers!
In the hospital now, just got a kidney from an awesome person. She sent me the link for this :)
How did it go?
Wishing you and her the best 👍
So cool
How did they get all of these people on the stage at the same moment
That's a real life miracle right there
Perks of actually filming on 30 Rockafella, also why Conan can make cameos.
hmmm I thought they were using sets, does 30 rock actually have large enough studios for shows and movies?
@@fanzhang5568 a lot of those sets are just three fake walls on wheels, wich are interchangeably. If you zoom out 10m, you see all kinds of lights, cameras, crew, crafts table. Some of the "outside" sets are even inside. Like in 'Malcolm in the middle ' backyard is just another studio (dont know if that one is nbc too). Lot of the late night shows, and even Saturday night live is filmed there, so yeah its big.
@@fanzhang5568 The show was filmed at Silvercup Studios, not at the RCA building.
There is a bonus on the DVD about how they made this, perhaps it’s somewhere online as well.
brilliant!!!
Jane is as an amazing singer as the rest of them.
Yah I was impressed she held her own!
That’s what’s great about her character… she IS a good singer, just too desperate to show it off and always taking the worst projects like that “Janis Joplin like” biopic
Just watched “We are the world” and remembered this gem.
One of my top 3 Elvis Costello favorite performances.
He is a class act for sure.
Don't you mean Declan McManus, international art thief?
Why is this so catchy? I'm afraid soemone will hear me humming this in public and call the cops
"No he doesn't need a hand, he just need a kidney~"
such an underrated moment for television!
Stop misusing that word
@@JazzFlop212 Underrated: underestimate the extent, value, or importance of (someone or something)
It is kind of accurate since I found out in the We are the World documentary that there were some drunk ones 😂
The music/songwriting on 30 Rock really never gets enough credit. Here’s to Tina’s composer husband!
It’s awesome that Michael McDonald showed up to do this after the show did several impersonations of him!
Michael McDonald is darm cute here
I love 30 Rock dearly, and this is my favourite scene of the series.
7 years ago I donated my kidney to a neighbour .... we are both doing well. Please consider donating your spare and help save a life.
Even this very silly song can inspire real benefit to society
lmao if you have two dogs attacking you you want Just one
Lauper has this innate ability to steal the show without even trying
The harmony on the second line of 300 million kidneys hits different
A dozen or so famous musicians performing a song to get a kidney for Alec Baldwins dad, Alan Alda…this show was amazing.
Milton Green! Milton Green! Milton Green! Milton Green! Milton Gree-e-e-e-en! 😂
...he needs a kidney...
I remember watching this in my dorm room at DePaul. I could see the Sears Tower and the John Hancock from my bed as I watched this episode. That was the last time I was happy. Hahaha? Ha.
College in the 2000s was a great time
Why does Cindy Lauper looks like carol Kane? Hahaha
That’s right, I’m the only one getting paid
LEGENDARY CYNDI LAUPER!
That leaves about 300 million kidneys... do the math
What a brilliant show
I JUST LOVEEEEE!!! How all these professional INCREDIBLE singers agreed to do this!! It's so good! 🤣🤣🤣
It hurts how accurate this is. The media can manipulate you by making celebrities tell you what to do even if it’s not your business or it’s stupid
❤Cyndi❤
Such a great tribute and parody of We Are the World
If you're here because of Talib Kweli's People's Party interview with Wyclef, where Talib references "Kidney Now" as their only song together, Wyclef is at 1:02 and Talib is at 1:51-2:00.
A hand would be an even harder thing to give ...
got to applause to whoever successfully pulled all these big name together for this scene.
And this was just season 3. Atta show!
Oh my god 😭 I was scrolling through songs with 30 in them as I'm turning 30 soon and this whole time, I thought this show was called 3D rock 🤣😭
This will always be my favorite episode
Almost as good as that celeb Imagine video.
MUCH BETTER YOU MEAN, atleast they're transparent.
This is serious, how dare you
@@aziizrocks whoosh
@@tefweebz i get the sarcasm, but never really understood the "imagine" controversy. I understood why people didn't like it, but hated it so much they felt necessary to voice it, instead of just rolling their eyes? I don't know... maybe its an American thing, and at least i understand 30rock.
❤ from Somalia
I'd certainly rather one head versus two.
But you rather 2 balls one sack oppose to one ball one sack🤣
id love it.. they realy take it seriously.. i mean the vocal of singing
I'm one of the drunk ones!
1:49
Kenneth looks soo happy
“that’s right i’m the only one getting paid”
Cyndi da MVP
What a hilarious satire! I miss that show!
2:30 Liz's comment left Jack recalculating for two seconds.
It really catchy 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂
The best thing they ever did on 30 Rock!
…. Do the math. Lololol
This is great. I've watched a lot of the show, but never saw this.
I see Elvis Costello in the thumbnail, and I click
Rhett Miller will always be my favorite
Norah was drunk, Cindy was the other... who's the third?
Watched 'The Greatest Night in Pop' last night and had to come here to see this again
I’m one of the drunk ones.
"To a super human being!!!!"
One of the drunk ones appeared in both we are the world and kidney song
this needs more views, i love this song
How did they all keep a straight face?
the best part is he ended up getting a kidney from Elvis Costello
💛💛💛💛💛💛
NBC should just put this song in public domain, let it be played freely in hospitals, organ donation centers etc. Props to Tina Fey, she got the song done, rounded up the crew, and had her ego stroked but why put a copyright on this, it's not that its song will be playing on every radio station, movie, bar, and clubs. It's kinda niche song and all the singers' prob sang for the cause, but no NBC had to slap a copyright on it and stop it from being played everywhere. If it is actually gets played maybe people will donate more organs
NBC live up to your writing, do some good!
It's a joke song, the singers did it because they thought it was funny. It isn't a useful song for raising awareness about organ donation because the lyrics are specifically written as jokes and much of the song doesn't make any sense outside of the show.
It was actually Tina Fey’s husband, Jeff Richmond, who wrote the song and composed all the music for 30 Rock. The song isn’t actually about raising organ donation awareness. It’s a joke written for the show, 30 Rock, which is why NBC copyrighted it.
Who is here after The Greatest Night In Pop?
Yessss. Now we know the drunk one was.
“He needs a kidney”
They never surpassed this musically on the show
Legendary!
Merry Christmas everyone! Best Present ever!
The props were really loaded even then
This should be better known lol 🤣🤣🤣❤️
B E AA U TI FULL!!!!!!!!!!
Mary J is easily the best voice of that group
🎵 💔💚💛One Love❣
