    Thank u SO much for this! I just ran across a lady doing this on TT but she doesn't show the epoxy step. I figured it was just like the cups BUT I wanted to see it done. This is something my daughter and I could do together since I have a cricut now. Altho my main biz is crocheting handmade diverse dolls. THANK YOU FOR SHARING!!

      Thank you and thanks for watching! You can actually do it with UV resin and a UV light.. you wouldn't need a turner doing it that way.

      You're very welcome! Please let me know if you have any questions at all! Also, don't use too much heat when you are taking off the clip because it can cause the pen to warp slightly which will make it difficult to get the guts back inside.

    Great tutorial. I found your YT from a comment of your on a FT tumbler group! I would love a follow-up vid that shows how you cut those tiny, cursive names... I’m imagining my Cricut wouldn’t cut that small- maybe I’m wrong!

I honestly don't know anything about the cricuts so I don't know how those would cut the lettering. 🤷🏼‍♀️

    I've seen some use Vaseline over the dowels to prevent it from sticking to the pen when epoxy dries... I notice you didn't do that but didn't mention if it was difficult for you to remove the pens from the dowels. What is your trick to keeping the epoxy off the dowels

      In my other epoxy glitter pen update video, I do mention using Vaseline to help keep epoxy of the dowels but I am VERY careful when I epoxy the pens so I don't ever have issues with getting the pens off of the dowel rods.

    How much epoxy do you use for just one pen? Also after added the base coat of expoxy and first glitter how long do you wait until you add more epoxy? Thanks for the video!

    I loved your tutorial! I tried the pencil method the first time but somehow I got epoxy inside and they got stuck to the pencils😂😂 at least I have extra pen refills now

      Lol! I'm very careful to not get Epoxy inside the pens but I liked using the skewers much better than the pencil. The pens felt so much more secure on the skewers. 😊

    What is an alternative for the spinner? What purpose does it serve? Trying to think of something I could do without having one.

      The turner keeps the epoxy even and smooth as the epoxy hardens, making the pen nice and smooth. The alternative would be to do a pen with UV resin, which requires a UV lamp to cure. I have some other videos that show how to make them using UV resin. czcams.com/video/Iw1GhJiB9yQ/video.html

      You could try modge podge and triple thick, but unfortunately it won't be as smooth.

    You weren’t afraid that the pens would drip epoxy onto each other when you put them on the same Turner? Did you put them on the same Turner for balance purposes?

      No ma'am, I didn't put enough epoxy on them for them to drip. I put them on the same Turner because I could spin more at once that way. 😊

      You can either add mod podge that area or put a tiny bit of Epoxy there and add glitter.. just blend it in. 😊🥰

      About 4-6 hours depending on how warm your room is and how fast your epoxy dries 😊

    Beside the papermate inkjoy retractable gel pens what pen can be used!

      Papermate Inkjoy is the only pen I've used so far because the clip on it can be easily removed. I'm sure if you could find any other pens that are similar you might could do it to those also. 🤷🏼‍♀️😊

      Anything that would keep the pen spinning so that the epoxy lays flat. I'm not really sure what you could use to spin it without a turner though.

    So cool!! Where do you find the refills? I was asking a friend if she would buy one and she said can you refill them and I thought you could but I can not find them anywhere! I would like to be able to make them and sell them with a refill thought it might be more enticing that way... wdyt??

      Someone said they found refills on Amazon but I couldn't find them. If they want to refill them, they could simply take the ink from inside a plain inkjoy pen and put it in their pretty pen if they can't find the refills.

    How long did you let the epoxy dry before adding a second coat or before taking it off

      I let the first coat of epoxy dry for about 3 hours then added a second coat. Let the pens spin overnight then they were ready to go in the morning. 😊

      It would probably be difficult to do without a turner because you need the turner to spin the pen so that the epoxy lays smoothly.

      I use multiple different epoxies but in this tutorial I used fast set for every step except the very last one. The last step I used Faux Rizzle UV. Other epoxies that I like to use are Tumblerpoxy, KS Liquidy Split UV, and StoneCoat Quick Coat (but not for final coat). I hope this helps!

      @@salon381 I didn't use UV resin for my final step.. I used Faux Rizzle UV Epoxy. It just means that it was UV inhibitors in it to keep it from yellowing, not that it's a UV resin. I'm sorry for the confusion.

      You possibly could if you could figure out a way to tape it off but I think you would run in to an issue with getting the glitter and epoxy underneath the clip. I'm not sure how you could do it and keep the clip. 🤷🏼‍♀️

    Do you need to turn It while the epoxy is drying? Could you just stand It up to dry? I don’t have anything that can turn the pens If I were to make some for myself

      Yes ma'am, it would need to spin for at least 4-5 hours before being set up to finish drying. Another alternative would be to use UV resin which cures very quickly under a UV light

      I haven't tried UV resin on them but I don't think UV resin is self-leveling. I'm sure you can but you may run in to issues with the pens being really smooth. If you decide to try it, please let me know how it works out!

      The ones with the clip that can be easily twisted off tend to work best because they are easy to take apart and spin

    I am very new at this and am looking into making pens. I am curious on the turner, is that something that is 100% necessary? I don’t have the supplies for that, is it only for certain epoxies because needing to be cured or..? Is there a way to do it without needing the turner?

      A turner is very helpful if you are using a two part epoxy that takes hours to dry. You can actually do this with UV resin and a nail lamp or UV light. I will actually be putting a tutorial out this weekend showing how to make a pen using UV resin.. you can literally make a pen in an hour with the uv resin.

    I must have gotten the wrong ink joy pens. The clicker part won’t come off at all it’s like it’s glued to the pen

      @@KristisCustomCreations there’s also a little nub attached on the bottom of the pen where the ink part slides out but won’t come off. Ingot the paper mate ink joy from target 🤷🏻‍♀️

    I have a question (if anyone can answer), when I read directions for Epoxy, they usually say “temperature need to be at least 70* when mixing epoxy” (or whatever temperature it is) but it doesn’t say that needs to be the temperature for it to cure/dry. Does the temp have to still be 70* or does the temp matter for it to cure/dry? Only wondering bc directions don’t say.

      Epoxy likes warmer temperatures. So I would recommend keeping the temp 70° or higher while your cups are drying.

      @@KristisCustomCreations I was just double checking. My house is an older house & it’s very drafty. I’m so scared to have Epoxy any near my kids bc I’ve seen people say it’s made them sick but I have an bathroom that we modified into more of a walk in closet/storage area, that has a window for ventilation (it’s also worth mentioning I live in the NW, so it’s cold. I was gonna do the epoxy in their. I can bring in a space heater if needed while they dry. I just want to make sure I’m prepared for everything ☺️. Thank you so much.

I’m actually making pens, like how tumblers are wrapped with fabric but pens instead. Hopefully I can try a few cups since I bought a cup turner & want to make sure I get my money’s worth out of it ☺️😉. My mom, sister, dad & husband are huge tumbler people, so I figured I could try tumblers and make them as gifts ☺️🤷🏽‍♀️

      @@jenniferscraftynook5626 epoxy is considered toxic until it's fully cured. It is recommended to wear PPE (personal protection equipment) when working with epoxy. I don't know anything about Crystalac (or however it is spelled) but it's my understanding that that is supposed to be non-toxic.

      That would be fish eyes. What kind of epoxy did you use? There are lots of different things that could lead to fish eyes in your projects. try standing then putting another light layer of epoxy over it to try to fill in the fish eyes.

    I have followed all the steps but when I get to the part of putting the pieces back in the silver clicker does not fit and I have been careful not go get epoxy in the barrel of the pen... what are your tips for this?

      Make sure that you don't add too much heat when you are sanding off the clip and you can even try an exacto knife to get the nub from where the clip was versus the sandpaper. If you put too much heat on it when softening that nub from the clip, it can warp the pen and cause the guts of the pen to not slide back into place properly. I hope that makes sense.

      @@michelleruiz4386 I also found that you can insert a straw at the end of the clicker and it will keep the epoxy from doing down in the barrel and also it pulls away when the epoxy if dry and you can just trim it up!

      I honestly haven't ever used UV Resin but if you are able to cure it as the pen spins then you may possibly be able to use it. I've watched numerous videos on UV Resin but I enjoy working with regular epoxy so I never purchased any. If you do happen to try it, will you PLEASE let me know how it turns out? I would really like to know!

      Yes, it would need to spin for the epoxy (resin) to lay evenly. If you didn't spin it, the Epoxy would all gather down at one end. If you are using the UV resin, I would think that you could spin it by hand under the light since the light cures it super quick.
