OF COURSE PASSING AP/IB TEST IS THE WAY TO GO! BUT IF YOU FAIL LIFE IS NOT OVER!!!!!
I am aware that AP and IB test scores were recently released! Now this might be amazing for those of you that passed. However, not every student passes which means a lot of students deal with anxiety or fear over the results. Students might think that life is over because they did bad in a test but that is far from the truth! Reality is we live in a system where we are pressured to do great in these AP and IB exams and when we fail, we feel let down. However, in this video I will tell you the TRUTH about scores and how they really matter.
Basics of an AP/IB Class: It is like another class except you put in more effort. The content is harder and the workload is heavier. At the end of the year, you take a final AP or Ib Exam. If you pass the exam you get a college credit, if you fail the exam you get nothing.
Here are some of my views on why scores are not so important (Please keep in mind ALWAYS DO YOUR BEST AND TRY TO PAST! The benefits can be huge!! However, it is not the end of the world if you don’t!!)
    1. A lot of AP/IB classes we take in high school are classes that we will never take again in college. Sometimes we are forced to take upper level classes in high school that have nothing to do with our personal interest in college. So what you got a 5 in AP European History? How would you benefit if you are never going to take another European history class ever again in your life? Get the picture?
    2. Some colleges only accept high scores. If you get a 3 lets say, some colleges will not even accept that so even though technically you got the credit, why does it matter if you can’t even use it?
    3. You might want to re-do a class in college to actually learn something. You might be better off not even transferring AP or IB credits if you feel you might get too challenged by a higher level course in college. Sure you might of been able to ease your way to a 4, but does that really mean you know the content?

Thank you for this encouraging video. I didn't get the score I wanted on my AP Bio exam but I really wanted to because I'm majoring in Biology this fall and I tried really hard and studied for the exam. You helped me realize that not passing an exam isn't the end of the world.

My AP US Gov teacher didn't go over the format of the exam at all this year. All he did was play news clips in class and assign some basic fill in the blank questions from our book for homework. Didn't go over any lessons in class. Barely even practiced the multiple choice and never practiced the FRQs or the essay. He even said that he's not familiar with the format of the exam. Wtf. He pretty much left the class having to self study now. Probably the most useless AP teacher I've had. I got lucky with APUSH last year because I had a teacher who actually practiced the exam which ended up being just one DBQ essay, but I'm pretty worried about the AP US Gov exam this year. Definitely would've felt a lot more confident with a competent teacher. Smh.
