•This one goes out to my theatrical alien husband. Almost 10 years later and I still lysm.
•But also-- guess who became obsessed with AJR during the shutdown/quarantine? This gal. I really... really love their sound and vibe. So much. I have so many favorite songs from them; this is one of them. Just a few days ago I got back on a Megamind kick and really wanted to edit with it again. I thought of this song and oop, there it is.
But I just feel like it fits so well, on a lot of levels. He puts on a show to be the "big bad villain" because that's what he thinks he's supposed to be. Then he tries to be someone he isn't, then trying to take Metroman's place... The movie is basically one huge identity crisis now that I think about it.
But I love him. A lot. I also tried to be more adventurous with text bc it's still my Big Weakness.

I keep watching this over and over, it's too fitting and the editing itself is absolutely stunning.
Now that I think about it Megamind has a sad life after 8 days of being born he lost his planet and parents was put in prison, he was mistreated for being an odd ones out when he tried to be cool like metroman he fails at it and nearly sets a fire till he came up with the conclusion he was a villain
While metroman hes not mistreated he just wanted a regular life

wow. this just... wow. first off the bat, all the scenes were you desaturated everything but the blue, yessss. then the voiceovers are perfectly placed. the text effects flow really well, they don't feel out of place in any shot. and then the lyric matching!!! 0:38 just hit HARD all of your parallels with both Megamind and Metro-Man pretending!! and then of course all the beats you hit, especially when it ramps up at 0:50. dang gotta rewatch this a few times more
