Right? I’ve had the unfortunate experiences of multiple piccs like hers and it looks innocent as an iv line to most who view it, but it’s quite the opposite. To get it, it’s an outpatient procedure. It is into a major artery, that leads to her heart.

You’re looking really good, you’re spark is back & you absolutely rock headscarves! I was bitten by my cat on my right hand & I got sepsis & multiple infections. I spent the best part of a year in & out of hospital. I had 16 operations to try & remove infection from my hand. My veins are small & medical professionals always find it difficult to cannulate me or draw blood. I was in the anaesthetic room getting prepped to have a general anaesthetic & they couldn’t cannulate me. I had a nurse trying in one foot, a doctor in my other foot, the anaesthetist trying in one arm & the surgeon in my other arm. 14 attempts collectively & to no avail. In the end they decided to put a central line in my neck & it was a god send! It lasted the remainder of my stay in hospital & meant I wasn’t being pricked & prided multiple times a day.
I also had a picc line for a previous infection & that too was a god send. I was taught how to administer my IV antibiotics, flush he line etc etc. I had a community nurse visit me once a week to change the dressing. I had a total of three picc lines over a 6 month period - not at the same time! 😂 I was amazed at how long the line actually was. It’s hard to explain the sensation when having a line put in & having it taken out. It’s not painful but it’s weird! I named all of my picc lines.. Petrie was my first one (Land before time!) Patrick (Spongebob!) & Piers (after Piers Morgan because I was watching GMB while they put my third line in!) 😂
I’m a very ‘complex case’, I currently star in three medical journals. I want to be able to create CZcams videos so I can hopefully help educate & spread awareness etc but I’m shy & I’m afraid I’ll be made fun of.
I love watching you’re videos, you have such an incredibly positive attitude & you deserve the World & so much more! Sending love from the UK, Vicky ♥️ xx

I had a mole checked out a few weeks ago bc I’d noticed it had changed colour a bit and I started creating all these scenarios in my head over what it could be and what would happen if it was something bad - watching your videos and the calm and collected way you go about all of this medical stuff made it a lot less scary.
Oh and after all of that the mole is fine, but this is a reminder to people to always get your moles checked (especially if you live somewhere that the sun is stronger! 🇳🇿 🇦🇺)

    @ChoochooseU Před 3 lety

So proud of you. I know what it’s like to have to live with a picc and it’s absolutely like new freedom to have it removed, even for short periods of time!
Maybe if you need another you could film the procedure- within reason- because I don’t think most people are aware it’s an actual outpatient procedure, the way they use X-ray to locate and place them- the tools like the thing use to see they set on your chest- it’s interesting. For me, it was a lot of pressure when inserted. I also got lots of heart flutters because it seemed we just couldn’t get the length just right and that length changes per arm. I think most people think it’s just a different kind of iv.
It’s so much more invasive than that and why getting an infection on that line which occupies a major artery going to your heart 💓 is such a big
    Deal.
I’m surprised they do t have you flushing your line twice daily but maybe if you’re not using it at home and only for chemotherapy they it’s not necessary..?
I think it keeps down infections to give it a saline flush and they also gave me preloaded blood thinners to use to flush to keep it clear.
    Enjoy your arm freeeeeeedommmm!!!!! 👏🏻

Hey Romee, I had a very similar mole type of thing at the same spot on my head! I was very self-conscious about it, always trying to hide it. It affected my hairstyle choices because I had to make sure it was covered. I finally had it removed last fall and opted for stitches. After, my forehead was a bit swollen and I guess my hair follicles were somewhat traumatized, because it took more than 2 months for my hair to regrow. I was seriously worried the area might remain bald.. Luckily it started growing eventually. I hope in your case everything heals nicely and you're happy you had it taken care of!

I have Neurofibromatosis type 1. My body produces fibromas. It can be life threatening because my tumors are all on the inside and they grow on major organs and nerves through out my body . I have had to have several surgeries. The biggest surgery was removing a orange 🍊 sized tumor from heart/ left lung area. I was 22 years old. Luckily it was not cancer ( 25% of tumors can be cancerous) . Actually none of the tumors I have had to have removed were cancer. Hopefully if I have to have surgery again those tumors will be benign. So last year in September I was diagnosed with breast cancer. But I finished radiation treatments in December. I will have my first 6 month appointment in June . You have been a true inspiration to me. You are such a good motivational speaker with a positive attitude. I try very hard to have a positive attitude and most of the time I do . When I see someone like yourself it never ceases to amaze me. But I do thank God for each day . It is distressing to see young people ( children and babies) having to battle cancer. I will keep you in my prayers.

Oh, my gosh Romee! I never knew what this thing was on my head. Now I have a name for it, a fibroma. I am very self conscious of it, especially when getting my hair cut or colored. I am a new follower and have been binge watching... thanks for teaching me something important today.

I have some very small fibroma, especially on my neck but also around my eyes. I sometimes cut them off myself. Thanks for the warning about the pic line :D

I’ve never met anyone else who literally has blistered skin (like a burn) from wound dressings (the adhesive). You have my complete empathy - I know how awful that feels! I keep you in my prayers! You are so brave and positive Romee !

I also have something similar if I have a band aid in the same place for too long.

I also am allergic to bandaid adhesive. Like when I got my COVID vaccine I took the bad aid off as soon as I got in the car but still was all pink for days! I’m going to ask for my second dose if they really need to but the bandaid on it’s not bleeding!

Oh yes if you are allergic to the adhesive it can be very bad

Same here, I had my Hickman line removed because the allergy to the dressing was so blistered and itchy! :(
