Amazing explanation ! I loved it, but what I really like in your videos is your awesome accent ! I'm from Brazil and, in order to improve my listening skills I try to watch videos with several accents. I used to think that the British accent was more charming than the American accent, but the American accent was easier to understand. You changed my mind ! Your accent has both ! It's more charming and so easy to understand... Well, thank you very much for your lessons and sorry about my English ! With your help, I'm improving it fastly ! One more time, thank you guys !

When teaching to people who come from the aspect-conscious languages, take into account that the perfect tense form can be used both for an unreal condition and for a perfect (fulfilled) action. Those students can be confused and will ask you questions. The phrase "If I had done that, you would have liked it" has four translations in their heads.

I had heard several explanations about this topic when teachers told about first, second, third and fourth conditionals and every time I couldn't understand them. But I have found the article about this topic where there are the different names of conditionals. So, Zero con. is the Present real conditional and when we use it, we tell about the present time. Second con. is the present unreal conditional and we use it to tell about the unreal present. Even though we use the past form of the verbs it is still the present time, but the unreal present. First con. is the future real conditional and when we use it, we tell about the future time, it is easy one. And the fourth con. is the past unreal conditional and we use it when we tell about the unreal past.
    So,
the Zero one - the present real conditional
the First one - the future real conditional
the Second one - the present unreal conditional
the Fourth one - the past unreal conditional
    Something like that.

These explanations always seem to make things more complicated for me. I say, get as much input as you can, until you can use grammar intuitively. Grammar rules might be useful for when you've heard something many times and still are unable to grasp its meaning, but you're not going to stop to think of the rule whilst speaking.

The second and third conditionals shown here "would" (!) be called the present and imperfect subjunctive respectively in some languages e.g. Spanish, but English has almost lost the subjunctive except for some legal usages.

I have heard some teachers say that it's not entirely correct to think in your mother language and translate everything into English, which I can't help but do; however, personally, I have noticed that many times, not all of them, especially verbs conjugations, are formed in very similar way to how they are built in the mine.
    Thank for your help.
    Greetings!!!

You can't learn without imagination. Problem of most foreign language learners or just learners in general is that they don't/cannot imagine or use their imagination. 23.02.2022, 16:22
