  • I took this sleeping bag on a 7-day late-season mule deer hunt in southern BC last year in 2021 during the last week of October. This particular bag is very intriguing as it’s a very innovative design. That very innovation has been the cause of some very polarized options of the bag. Check out this video if you’re interested in my thoughts.

    Awesome review!

    Awesome review - I have one on order but mainly for an emergency bag in my pack. I am also a big guy and I really wish they would make 3xl bags.

      Yeah man. Length was great but Width is lacking for big dudes for sure.

      @@MindfulHunter Maybe if enough of us keep asking them for bigger sizes they will make them for us - love being big but is sucks at the same time. I just found your channel today - enjoying it so far - Thanks for the posts

    Thanks Jay, was curious how this new product performed for you.

    Great review. I’m really debating this bag. I’m not that tall but I’m “ a big lad” and have broad shoulders. This is the only review that talks about the girth fit at the top being tight. I might be leaning towards a wide quilt.

      I’m a huge quilt fan. Specifically the enigma from enlightened equipment.

      @@MindfulHunter just wanted to update. I ended up getting this bag on sale recently. So far I’m actually pretty impressed with it. I’m 5’8, 245 and I got the Long to have a little extra room. I find the bag fits well on me. I like the center zip and arm zips. My plan is to use it as a Sept Elk hunt bag. It seems to compress down to almost what a 650 down bag might of the same actual rating (not what a bag maker might inflate the temp rating to, lol).

    Finally a bigger dude that loves to hunt talking about sleeping bags and how narrow they all are! I'm curious as to which sleeping bag you currently own that is the warmest and has the most room

      My man! Us big dudes gotta stick together! SO I run the enigma quilt from Enlightened Equipment. Total game changer. I have a down one and a synthetic. And I recommend upgrading to the 20d shell fabric. I much prefer quilts to sleeping nags once I got used to setting them up right.

      @@MindfulHunter thank you brother. I was trying to make up my mind on a Kifaru slick bag for high altitude elk hunting (wind) here in Montana.

      @@jameshurd4815 Okay I also own a Kifaru slick bag and love it. It's my deep wintder bag. I went with regular length but wide and it's a perfect fit. A little heavy but a bombproof option as well.

    Do you have any experience with the 20 degree KIFARU slick bag? I’m kinda looking at both. And would you say the slick is warmer

    • @MindfulHunter
      @MindfulHunter  Před rokem

      I have the 0 degree slick bag. I think the 20 degree slick bag would be warmer but also likely heavier. I’d have to look up the specs.

    Sounds like they are cutting corners and using cheaper materials to make more money on their end. I went stone glacier bag but kuiu was my first option but 600 was all I wanted to spend on a bag lol . Great video.. Sitka is good but its heavy and me and my wife said bye bye to sitka and went kuiu to save weight and its warmer and all around better gear. IMO But in all they are both top notch gear but there can only be one ALPHA lol haha
