I really like the Ratel V1, but the V2 looks to have added quite a bit more to the FOV, and the lens distortion looks much better!
I disagree I won both and tbh I like v1
Analog cameras have definitely peaked. Looking very much forward to Ratel HD!

Great comparison, like usual! Image quality on all cameras is superb, and for those interested in FOV, the Foxeer Toothless has the widest, and the Ratel 1 has the least. Go to the car park, where he zooms in to the railing to verify what I found. The Toothless can see some areas that the others simply can't because of it's wide FOV. Thanks Gal! :)

Just ordered ratel 2, really like the low lights and less noise. Mostly flying with overcast/cloudy weather.
Phoenix 2 really good in clear weather.

Apart from the lens flare,slightly narrower fov that others spotted, in the rat 1 footage, they are all very close. Getting harder now to pick out a better camera they are all good. the v2 is slightly better.
they all looks so good!, I actually like the red lens flare on the Ratel 1 :D althou all looks so close and insanely good. i preffer analog to digital picture.
Analog/Digital is merely a different way to transmit/handle data. Digital just means you get undistorted data (or none at all), while analog data can continuously degrade when transmitting and receiving. You like digital picture better than analog as well. Everyone does because you get an undistorted picture (digital just means the transmitted image is as clear as recorded in the cam itself before transmitting). You could even use a digital VTX protocol to transmit the picture of analog cameras.
These tests say a lot for the image quality of these 4 cams. Thanks for posting this, Gal.

I’ve been preaching Ratel Cams for a year now and no one believe me. I love them.
The Ratel v2 has much less lens glare compared to the others.
I kind of like the lens flares

Surprisingly absolutely no lens glare seen on Ratel 2. Better colors, wider FOV, lighter. Perfect!

They are good, but HD is a different world.

I like my toothless, it seems to have less grain/ rainbow pixels compared with others
The Ratel V2 looks great! Hopefully the nano version will have a similar FOV.
Not much difference between them, in daylight. But the Ratel 2 standouts in lowlight.

In my opinion Phoenix 2 is the winner here. (daylight / good light) Much better visibility, contrast, sharpness.

Small differences in image quality. I think that analog systems are difficult to upgrade, this technology is already developed. For now, I'm waiting for a new generation of digital systems, not necessarily from DJI. Greetings from Poland :)

Another extremely well conducted review. Thank you! Based on your reviews I have just ordered a Foxeer Toothless 2 Nano camera, will mount it into an Emax TinyHawk II for better indoor picture quality. I live in Sweden and there isn't much light, so a low weight and low light camera was needed in nano size. Has been hesitating about the Phoenix 2 Nano, but it is almost 5 g more, so I have skipped it. But I keep it in my mind for larger quads....

@@KremerFPV In Summer there is daylight until almost 22:00 at peak. But in Winter you hardly see daylight. In November the amount of hours with visible Sun have been 4 hours in some recent years....

Ratel 1 vs 2, my eyes can't see much differences ... except for the glare effect, but maybe it was there because the position of the ratel 1 is above the ratel 2
What are the horizontal artifacts of the Toothless 2 seen around 1:30? If I ignore that my personal ranking:
1.) Toothless 2
2.) Ratel 2
a long while nothing
3.) Ratel 1
4.) Phoenix 2

I would say the ratel 2 and phoenix 2 trade blows pretty evenly. The ratel 2 being slightly less noisy at night. The toothless trails close behind, with better low light handling than the ratel 2, ratel 1 while in 4th place is still a pretty good camera overall!

I use Caddx ratel on one drone and Pheonix 2 on second drone... Caddx Ratel looks slightly better but it is not a "night & day" difference. Both of them have perfect image! I think ratel has less latency?

Fantastic comparison! as always. I think the Caddx Ratel 2 was best in every situation. Do you think the Caddx Ratel 2 is just a Caddx Nebula Micro without the digital output?
Not at all the nebula is honestly not great I have one and compare it to the current fleet of ratels I use and it's not even close for analog use .. idk about the digital side of it

Slightly off topic. But were your (3D printed) dual camera holder stacks something you created or were the plans online. I was thinking of putting two camera's on my drone (with a camera switch) so that when I fly in the evening I can switch to a CAT 3 IR camera as it gets darker. I only own one drone and swapping a camera in the field obviously isn't desirable. Thks
Is that the Toothless in 4:3 WIDE mode? And the Caddx Ratel v1 with the 2.1mm lens? With the 1.66m lens it should be wider.
I used the default settings and as far as I can remember the Ratel V1 was using the 1.66mm lens.
@@KremerFPV Ok. I think it is the 2.1mm lens on the Ratel, because the 1.66mm lens is much wider than the Runcam Phoenix. Looks like the default settings on the Toothless 2 is 4:3 Wide FOV-D 180, because it is wider than the Ratel 2 with a FOV-D of 165.
Ratel 2 for me...isn't this the only one of all four which has a real glass lense?

Looks like The biggest difference between analog or Dji is the camera itself.
I am very satisfied with the DJI system and defiantly recommend it.

Ratel 1 has way less details than v2 or other competitors. Ratel 2 wins in Color artifacts - purple around wires and meshes and such.

I agree there is a big similarity and even the OSD menus are very similar.

Runcam color is wrong, too green, toothless and ratel color is close, toothless has the widest FOV, all in all, toothless is the best.
