I think the “i don’t want to slow dance in the dark” is kind of like the other person didn’t really want to make the relationship public and so it’s kind of hidden in the dark. I guess it’s sort of what you mentioned. I really liked your analysis xD

I think "slow dancing in the dark" means that, because he's dancing, its symbolism to say he's having an intimate relationship, but like dancing in the dark with a stranger, you can't make out their face, meaning his relationship is impersonal. His relationship with this girl is intimate but impersonal
I felt that this song was the idea of how joji is destructive towards most and he doesn't want anyone to get close to him. He felt comfortable by himself and he is asking for reasons why he needs to be with them instead of the better person.
I can see that for sure. Like I said, music is open interpretation on how people see it!
When he's asking for reasons to be complete I got the vibe he is questioning why they should be over with,him not wanting to be but at the same time realizing he'll have to accept it

To me the lyrics tell a story of someone who wants to be in love with someone else who isn't quiet ready to commit, perhaps someone he's having a fling with and ultimately he feels he isn't worthy of this other persons love and so he's tired of hiding this relationship ie slow dancing in the dark. The line "you looked at me like I was someone else" meaning she refuses to acknowledge him or the relationship they have. So he's telling her to go be with this other guy and let him be.

A satyr is a mythical creature that lust a lot and an the arrow can represent Cupid’s arrow so in a way joji is lusting over someone who he has fallen in love with but in the lyrics joji says that his not worth her time that she should find someone better but if she loves him he won’t let her go.

I'm late but I'm gonna give my opinion based on my research on CZcams comments.
What he's representing is a satyr. A satyr is a "party hard" kind of thing. It was all about drunk and sex and party.
But in this music video, he found a woman that he respect.
It's in his nature to have sex and party but he despise that as he don't want to use that woman as an object for his desire. So against his nature, it's killing him. That arrows show how he's in pain, he's dying.
You should listen to the song without pausing, and then draw conclusions. Because the song with pauses is not enjoyed
