Waldorf salad Perfect for the holidays

- 1-8oz cool whip plus 4oz
1/3 cup mayo
Purple grapes
3 large red crispy apples
2stalks of celery sliced thinly
Walnuts
2 bananas
1can well drained mandarin oranges

Great Waldorf Salad version! You can even turn it into an old fashion Ambrosia Salad by adding pineapple and coconut and cherries with the sour cream. Kids will love it. Many versions out there. Have a great holiday Gina.
Hi there Gina... I feel I need to share. 12yrs ago I lost my 3 year old grandson to cancer. He was sick, we took him to the doctor and 3 days later he passed away. My reason for sharing this is that I used to be a great cook. I could throw anything together without any thought. However when he passed I lost my ability to cook, grocery shop and put meals together. Iâve been watching you for awhile now and my love for cooking is slowly coming back with your help. You always say that you have a God given talent and so did I once upon a time. I want you to know that you have helped me with your talents in the kitchen. Iâm slowly getting my mind, body and soul back to do what Iâve always loved to do, and thatâs cook for my family. All my kids are all grown now with families of their own but the joy I once had and lost is back thanks to your videos. I know 12 years is a long time but since then Iâve buried a stillborn Grandaughter, a nephew and my best friend in the whole world, my Dad. Keep on Blessing me with your tutorials. My mom made this waldorf salad yrs ago when we had company.We had đŠ Turkey &dressing green bean casserole corn pudding homemade đœ dinner rolls đ tossed salad sweet potato pies cheesecake pies waldorf salad. Cookie crust pound cake and mashed garlic potatoes.
The sour cream method is tasty too. I use half mayo and half sour cream with lemon juice to keep the apples from getting brown!

Gina girl this hits home! My mama use to make âfruit saladâ apples, bananas, raisins and nuts canât remember if it was walnuts or pecans but I remember us kids got the job of cracking them, lol. She used mayonnaise too, I think at that time we had Bama brand Mayo I can recall cool whip. Now ambrosia as I recall she had a couple of cans of fruit cocktail and coconut and I believe the mandarin oranges. Oh my goodness mama would out do herself then repeat at Christmas. But now I just cook something else for Christmas like steak because after days of turkey and ham Iâm ready for some beef. My mama ised to make this for special occasions and add coconut and little color marshmallows to it đđđ it was delicious.. i thank im gonna make small bowl for Thanksgiving because its my late mama birthday. I know that she smiling down on me.. đđâ€âŁ

That looks really good. My mother used to make an ambrosia dish that was awful. She made it every Thanksgiving and every Christmas. I don't remember any mayo in it but there were those little marshmallows, oranges, grapefruit, bananas, grapes and lots and lots of coconut. It really was bad. I think I could get my tastebuds around this recipe but not Mama's, God rest her soul. She tried. She really did.

I grew up on Waldorf salad and we always used miracle whip , I now use honey crisps apples celery, pineapple tidbits, marshmallows, and instead of walnuts I use cashews love love love. Can u make your version of an Italian cream cake? Intrested to see your version

We called ours fruit salad This is so good to have on your Christmas dinner table but I do remember growing up having this but I don't remember having bananas in ours or mayonnaise either I just remember having whipped cream and cream cheese and a little bit of different fruits and that's about it but everybody makes there's differentđđđđđ
I forgot I also put walnuts and pecans and mine too that's what I remember as wellđđđ
