Kavassery is a small village in Palakkad district of Kerala state, India. It is under Alathur Taluk, Palakkad. This place is known for its mesmerising beauty, a walk through the village and paddy fields is a different experience for nature lovers.
In this video we visited an old Mana (traditional house of Naboodiris in Kavassery). Panchayat Member Girija Chechi’s house as she makes Nettipattom on her free time and a farm and paddy fields belongs to Valikattu Kalam, Kavassery.

I am from Kannur and I live in Canada. I have been wanting to visit Palakkadu for a long time now. Until I started watching your videos, I knew only about Ottapalam bcoz of the number of movies shot there and had only that place on my bucket list. I had already visited Nelliyampathy and loved the paddy fields on the way. Your videos made me fall in love with the whole district. Such a heavenly feeling.. I am a new subscriber,, a Palakkad ,Kavassery native too.. Had been watching your videos and found them so genuine ,so subscribed . Good camera work.,very nice narration,,different content. Keep it up.
That house on the left of the idivettiaal ,in the junction, before reaching Chungam ,,(the Banyan tree Is known by that name,,). was ours for a long , long time before it was sold some 40 years back. Vattekat house.The Kavassery Pooram takes place at this spot , and we could watch it every day and night from our house there ,used to feel very proud of that. Even the shop on the right ,Ranchitta Achuthannairde peedika has been standing there since 1945 or so… it’s the uniqueness of Palakkad,Kavassery that it still retains the charm and rustic qualities . Hope to see more from you.

I was a regular visitor of Kavassery between 1960 to1970, a calm serene village with big banyan tree with no electricity and few houses. Pooram was there and a river is there if I remember correct. KCP High School and headmaster K R Anantha Iyer were memorable.Really nostalgic memories!

Thank you for yet another excellent video. I spent a few years in Alathur where my father served as Principal of Sree Narayana College. Your video roused in me an overwhelming sense of nostalgia. But I always feel that you can try to make your videos more focussed and more detailed. For example, you could share with your viewers more information about the mana and the tharavad. By the way, 'madham' is usually a Tamil brahman house and not a Nambuthiri house.

Thanks. There are some videos which I added history but I ended up in some controversial mails and comments but very few. That is one of the reason I started avoiding adding historical touch to the videos. Even for this video I met real owner who got this Mana after partition.
At the end just want to make some happy videos which bring happiness to me and to the viewers and show the young generation about all these lifestyles.
