Why should I clip the verse if the hook will peak louder and determine how much I can drive the limiter? Do you use the clipper as a tool to archieve loudness or to get louder? Because if the hook peaks louder and I cannot drive the limiter more, then why should I even try to clip or limit the verse?

I imagine you'd have to set the clipper threshold somewhat lower than the limiter threshold, to allow clipping whilst still having headroom before going into the limiter.
