The film Anand, which came in the year 1971, is counted among the best films of its time. Although the film had superstar Rajesh Khanna in the lead role, Amitabh Bachchan was seen as a supporting actor along with Babu Moshai. Despite the presence of Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh caught the attention of people in this film through his strong acting. Anand can be considered Rajesh Khanna's best film, but after watching the film, Amitabh also settles in the mind of the audience. Even after playing a side role, Amitabh has made his screen presence very impressive. Big B played the role of Dr. Bhaskar K. Banerjee in this film.
In the year 1973, the film Zanjeer directed by Prakash Mehra was released, which changed the face of Amitabh's career. Prakash Mehra, the great director of his time, was tired of not hearing from many veteran heroes of the industry for the film, then he chose Amitabh for Zanjeer after losing. When Big B shot the very first shot for the film with actor Pran, Prakash was taken to a corner and told that this boy would become a superstar. Zanjeer, adorned with a tied story and excellent performances, laid the foundation of Amitabh's angry young man, which remains till today.
Two years after the release of the film Zanjeer, Amitabh Bachchan and Shashi Kapoor's film Deewar knocked on the film screen. After Zanjeer, Amitabh was once again named Vijay in this film. At that time, heroes did not like to play negative roles in films, but Amitabh Bachchan's character in Deewar was grey-shaded. Actually, in the film, Amitabh chooses the world of crime over his honest brother, after which his mother also leaves him. Despite playing a negative character in the film, Amitabh won the sympathy of the audience. Amitabh getting angry at God and dying in his mother's lap on the steps of the temple is still one of the best scenes of Hindi films.
After Deewaar, a film was released only in the year 1975, which changed the meaning of Hindi cinema at that time. Friends in the film, from the pair of Jai-Veeru to Villain Gabbar are famous even today. Hearing the names of Jai-Veeru and Gabbar, you must have understood that we are talking about 'Sholay'. The pair of Jai and Veeru did wonders in the film. Amitabh gave a great performance in this film. Amitabh made many scenes memorable through his eyes and facial expressions without speaking. Jai's sacrifice of his own life to catch Gabbar and save his friend's life leaves all the viewers in tears.
The 1982 film Shakti was not a huge success, but it was a great opportunity for the audience to see the two great actors together. In this film, Amitabh was accompanied by his idol Dilip Kumar. It was not easy for him to work with Dileep in this film, he had to give retakes several times.
