why does everyone seem to think they’re ruining miguel’s character. it’s only ruining if they don’t plan to build him back up. i’ll be the first one to complain if all the shit they’ve done to miguel the last 2 seasons doesn’t give us a satisfying come back arc for him but the cobra kai writers haven’t given me a reason to believe they don’t know what they’re doing.
Exactly, it’s like some Cobra Kai fans think just because he’s the “main character”(when really he’s ONE of the main characters of the kids) he’s not allowed long lasting struggles. He would be kinda boring if he was able to body everyone he fights and be super op like he used to be
His comeback arc is gonna be amazing. The fact they still have him as technically undefeated shows us how much the writers love his character
@@ihateanatomy2169 i agree!!!! i’m very tired of “he doesn’t feel like a main character anymore” argument bc yes he’s taken a back seat this season and in s3 he didn’t fight at all bc he was recovering so maybe ppl are just frustrated he’s not back to fighting but i think where they’re going with him is really good. it’s funny that you mentioned it being boring if he stayed op and was beating ass all the time bc ppl have been calling him boring in s4 when he has the best character arc imo???? realizing you aren’t fighting for yourself and you’re being used for a rivalry older than you are and not knowing who you are or what you want is a great storyline imo. the writers haven’t disappointed me yet and unless they do something like have all of miguel’s pain be for nothing or completely focus away from his character i’ll continue to praise them.
the only thing i don’t like is annoying fans that only cares about the fighting talking about him getting nerfed and being boring 24/7 like oh brother sorry he’s going through a lot rn and karate isn’t what’s helping him at the moment. his storyline is more character driven than fighting rn and that’s fine (i do hope he gets to beat someone’s ass in s5 though mainly bc i’m tired of seeing ppl disrespect his name)
@@user-fg4li6kd1q Exactly, Miguel is physically at a disadvantage since he just recovered a few months ago (even though he somehow managed to defeat Kyler in the house fight which didn’t make sense at all, all you have to do is look at his face in that fight, he should’ve been knocked out by Kyler, like he was getting repeated punches to the back before he got his inspiration but I’m getting off track) and in this season he’s mentally and emotionally drained. From not being able to go the college he wants because of finances, worried about not being good enough to date Sam because of Daniel, all of the drama that’s happened in past season and his father issues this entire season, he was not gonna perform to the best of his ability fighting wise, which does happen to people doing anything. If you’re heart and mind isn’t in it like it used to be, you’re not gonna be at you’re best. Miguel felt the most human this season, most humans are emotional and complicated, especially when you’re 16-18 when you’re trying to find who you are. I’m 16 and I understand that, I don’t know how others don’t

This wasn't Miguel's all-valley tournament to win. He already won in s1 and had that arc where he went from being weak and bullied on the streets to kicking ass and becoming a champion. In this season he already is a champion but feels like he needs to prove himself again to Johnny especially after he called him Robby in the last episode. And having that mindset tempted him to push the limits and injure himself again. He can't even fight for himself anymore because everything is surrounded by this karate drama and rivals.

He wasnt going to hurt hawk badly. Simply a knockout. Johnny asked him to destroy hawk. Thats where he disagreed. Also, he didnt hurt his back bcos of the kick too hard. He was unstable in the head and then his back gave out

Seeing y’all argue and out so much passion into this show is super exciting. This whole fanbase roots for Miguel and the whole cast and characters. It’s amazing what we the audience can feel and how tight we got wound up because of emotional investment. This is great storytelling!
Hawk and Tory were my favorite characters and I stood by that ☺️
In part, Miguel has been down because of his fall-out with Sam. I know it's not the main reason, but it still hurts a ton.
On the bright side, Demetri has stepped his game up. And Hawk finally getting his second chance with Moon… in my opinion, absolute fire!!!!!!

I dont like to see Miguel down but to be honest, Im glad they didnt make his back injury go away. Because it did seem a little unrealistic that his coma and broken back trauma just miraculously went away cause of Johnny's physical therapy and the only consequences was that Miguel was a little bit out of shape. It seems more right that he is still struggling with his injury and he will hopefully fully recover in season 5 with what ever major fight he gets into ( fingers crossed for a final Miguel vs robby fight🤞🏾)
@@Shaye.J you do realize that you NEVER fully heal from a serious spine injury. Especially his. Know matter how much time has passed his back will NEVER feel the same again nor will he be able to do the same. But hey it's a show and if they want to make it so he can basically be back at 100 I say congrats to them for having big enough balls to so something like that. My point is that the show made it seem like it is possible an injury like that can be recovered from in that short amount of time to compete in athletic competitions and the way they are writing the plot makes it seem like he was have a type of development that will get him on the path of getting his old fighting spirt back while fighting for himself instead of fighting for other people's causes. Miguel getting hurt was a way for him to get out of the tournament without losing his title so it’s kind of like leading up to a big match or a big fight you want to keep the main character padded so they didn’t lose he got hurt so he couldn’t fight

@@Kayoss13212 Next season is probably gonna be robby, Miguel and johnny in Mexico dealing with their stuff, tory and sam kind of chilling out (hopefully), daniel + chozen stuff, Kenny v anthony stuff. Lots of things. I am hoping they delay some of the storylines for season 6 so they can focus on the characters that were slid aside.

@@karthikg1427 I hope so. Because I just feel like some of the things that they built up for Miguel (learning Karate, his lackluster rivalry with Robby) they’ve kinda tossed aside for Sam and Tory. Anything major, he’s rarely been a part of. Like learning both Karate styles from Johnny and Daniel, leveling up to weapons like Sam and Tory, even the final fights. Even Eli and Demitri had a better rivalry imo.

Nathan always on Robby for actually winning by his way, he sounds like Daniel. Sam said the exact same thing as Robby but Nathan hates Robby wtf. Also in the first tournament Miguel went after Robby's injury but no one talks about that. Miguel isn't the main character and he was hurt not too long ago!
Miguel is the main character between the teenagers, the show started with his and Johnny's story and he has the most focus and screen time between all of them.

@@scarletnach2952 Yeah, I would argue at this point of the show, Robby feels more like the main character among the teens. He's always had an interesting subplot separate from all the group stuff and his development has been the best written. Miguel is the main teen character in name only at this point, imo.

I will say the only good thing that comes out of the injury is that Miguel technically didn't lose the title to anyone, so you could argue that Miguel's stock doesn't drop because it's not like Hawk actually beat Miguel.
And I thought that was the biggest BS of this whole thing of all the kid characters Miguel gets all of the plot armor if you wanted to get to what they got to in the final cuz I don't want to mess it up for anybody just let him lose straight up it would have been fine

The whole point of Miguel’s arc in the show was that karate was never his issue, it was dealing with his personal life

Bro Nathan I get your team Sam but at least see other people perspective. Robby said "It doesn't matter which way you fight as long as it works" That's something Daniel can't see because he feels like his way is right. And Kreese told Robby not to go easy, so Robby decided to finish the fight and go his normal or all out.
The most negative thing that Nathan has said about Sam is that "it's everyone's one fault".
That's a fair criticism in certain instances like in the school fight, but their are other instances where it's less gray and Nathan will still defend Sam.
Now, Sam making mistakes by itself isn't actually a bad thing by itself. As a teenager, you are expected to do so, but Sam has been the problem or partially the problem in too many instances. Miguel and Robby have made some mistakes, but they are much less frequent by comparison. Tory committed many awful actions, so I won't blame Sam for not liking her, but Tory is improving for the better whereas Sam had more or less stayed the same.
The guy on the left complained way to much😂 just cause he didn’t get what he wanted lol, he’s tryna say Miguel should walk out of his contract lol😂🤣 it just sets up the next story for the next season
Robby was my favorite character this season by far.
It was superior, too bad that many people get carried away because it is "bad" and forget what the characters did in previous seasons. They let him pass him off because they are "teenagers" but forget when it comes to Robby.

Robby is easily the best teen character of the series. He didn't just become good this season. He's had actual development since the Pilot and he's written in a good way, not a way to please fans, which is exactly why he's the most well-rounded character.

I wouldn't say hawk been switching since he got his mohawk hes been going down hill there was never a moment where he went up hill until the end of s3 and in s4 he stayed on that up hill path he was consitent while robby was a angry ass at the start of s1 became not a angry ass in mayagi do then at the end of s2 let his anger ass out again, paralyzed a kid, ran away got caught got and became a angry ass again at then end of s3 because daniel turned him into the cops like he didnt kick a kid over a railing then at s4 hes not a angry ass and is chill af then proceeds to tell Miguel about how he paralyzed him like its a flex then became chill talked shit to Daniel for doing the responsible thing and johnny because he was a deadbeat father and hated everyone for not being good people like he himself didnt paralyze someone and stolen countless items then mid matched switched up on kenny and almost broke his nose, felt bad then hit hawk knee which was illegal doing the same thing hawk and Miguel did to him in the s1 tournament lost then finally decided to not be a angry ass and make up with his dad like robby cant decided what he wants to do and he gets mad at people for being assholes when he himself is a asshole who stole from mutiple stores, paralyzed a kid flex that he did that and stayed mad at the kid he almost killed and still never apologized instead fighting that kid again and threatening him, got mad at Daniel because daniel used common sense and didn't let robby go on like he a gta character running from the law and then hes mad at Johnny for understandable reason got stayed mad at same who apologized and told him he also broke her heart which he did like hes a level above hawk atleast hawk stayed a asshole when he was

Miguel is still a main character he just isn't the only main character of the show, there are other main characters. In television and drama their are different types of main characters. What happened to Miguel this episode made perfect sense he literally just recovered like two months ago what would have been dumb is if he was going all out and not get hurt the slightest considering he just recovered. The only reason miguel is seen as the only main character in the show is because the writers needed a base and they used miguel's character for that but as the story progressed we met other main characters with different backstories and got introduced to different storylines. If you actually analyse the show miguel was the only character that didn't need growth, in most of audience's eyes he was the only protagonist of the show. Everyone else needed growth, so this season focused on the main characters that need that growth while doing that they obviously need a character that will give them growth for the next season so just because miguel didn't win the match doesn't mean they nerfed him and if he did win that match it would have been boring cause if he won the all valley that means he would be a two time champ like we have enough two time champs at that point the writers are just lazy not write a different one

People seem to think Miguel is the main character of this show when he’s not, every character is just as important as he is and Miguel can have struggles like other characters. People want him to be like his season 2 self when he was at his prime but him hurting his spine and in being in a coma for 2 weeks and having to compete in the all valley a few months later is not good for him physically(even though he defeated Kyler in the house fight, which COMPLETE BULL and doesn’t make sense at all but that’s besides the point). Mentally and emotionally he’s not into the whole drama and fighting like he used to and with that it could’ve hinder his performance when competing. It can happen to people and I’m pretty sure it has, Miguel is human like everyone else but people seem to forget that I guess

Why do people think Miguel’s back injury isn’t gonna be a reoccurring problem? Why y’all think sport athletes still suffer from muscle pain and arthritis over years even after they retire
First, Johnny is the main character of the series.
Second, Miguel got horribly injured. Him being "nerfed" makes sense and it is part of the story. This isn't like what they did with Hawk in season 2.
Daniel was at his next level annoyance this episode. Sam didn't cheat or fight dirty, gtfo with "you didn't win the right way"
Tbf, Sam was using what Johnny taught the wrong way unlike how Miguel used Daniel's training. She got angry and started fights. But yea, Daniel has a point.
Miguel remains my favorite character, and it was a struggle watching what this season did to him. But I genuinely think the writers will build him back up and he’ll have a fantastic arc. Robby went harder than he needed to, it’s true, but I really liked his character this season. He goes back and forth a lot, but I feel like it’s still true to his character and shows his internal battle within himself as well. I’m just waiting for Miguel and Robby to be on good terms tbh, I’d love to seem them as a duo.
Especially once Robby finds out Johnny’s dating Carmen. We saw Miguel’s reaction to his mom and sensei. But what’ll be the reaction of Robby with his dad and enemy’s mom? 🤷🏻♀️
I agree with you Miguel is also my favorite character in the show and I think the writers are definitely gonna build up his arc next season and in season 6
A lot of people now seem like they are sad for Miguel that he got into the conflict between Johnny and Daniel. They can understand that he isn´t mentally fit because he isn´t fighting one fight, he fights two. One at the tournament and one in his head. But the fact that Miguel is in this position just in season 4 and people forgett that there is only one other person in this show who is involved into this conflict between Johnny and Daniel is Robby. Things with Daniel went wrong for many times because of the rivalry. (Yes, i know that Robby isn´t innocent). But he is the one that struggles since season 1 with things in his head.
The fact that Robby goes back and forth a lot is the perfect example why there isn´t one dojo which is the best. Sometimes people need more MiyagiDo, sometimes more Cobra Kai. Silver/Kreese will never understand this. I bet Daniel too.
Robby went way to aggressive into the fight with Kenny. Spoiler: In my opinion this is the first part where he realizes Cobra Kai isn´t the right place and he turn softer, like in the next fight. He never had this aggressive face again.

You guys have no idea, the finale is epic! Miguel is already a champion guys, so win or lose this tournament, he's proven himself already. Did he reinjure himself? Well you'll have to watch the Finale to get that answer. Season 5 is going to be insane! They are setting things up for Season 5.

Miguel will be triumphant in the end. His path has been long and difficult, so his ultimate victory will be sweet.
Robbie is particularly good at losing to Miguel. Last all valley, then the school fight where Miguel had him pinned to the floor for good.
Robby won the prom fight though, so he isn’t that far from proving Miguel as his worthy opponent. That’s just how popular rivalries are written. The school fight is debatable

Nah, he clearly exagerated and humiliated Kenny who is his friend in front of everyone just to show off when he obviously could've won fast just like Kreese told him to, I would love to see him trying that with someone who can fight him toe to toe like Miguel and Hawk, he toyed with Kenny and humiliated him just because he could, there's no excuse. Also, Miguel hasn't worse this season, he might not have fought or had the same focus as the others but the only reason he didn't won again is because he didn't wanted to keep fighting and because his main plot with his father will be explored further next season and he'll be the highlight again.
This! They seem to forget how Miguel performed in the season one tournament literally Robby would have won and Miguel wouldn't have played dirty. They criticize Robby when he does things wrong but easily forgive what Miguel and Eli did in past seasons.

They literally see that Miguel is a better fighter because he is the protagonist but nothing to see Robby has proven to be a much better fighter. Also if it had been Robby and Miguel the final both had the same chance of winning. Falcon had a chance to get the point to Robby and that's when he hooked up Robby's shirt for me that wasn't very fair, plus Robby was distracted by kenny. Robby had to win the tournament both years but as he is not the protagonist and is the "bad"
@@nayArroyo Miguel would've won the first tournament regardless of Robby being injured or not and he proved that at the school fight when they were both at their best and Miguel still beat him and spared him, and then what Robby did? Attacked him by surprise and almost killed him, running away after that without even checking if Miguel was alive and still breathing. Miguel is a much better fighter than Robby and he proved that many times by beating him twice and he would've won again if they had fought on this tournament. They fought toe to toe at the prom fight and Miguel landed more hits than Robby and then Robby pushed him to the pool because he couldn't even beat a nerfed and not 100% Miguel lmao. Also, Hawk beat Robby fair and square and he could've simply dodged or blocked Robby's punch, if Robby was the best fighter he would've won even after he missed his chance but it was the other way around, that whole "Kenny's distraction" argument is weak and doesn't convince me one bit.
@@peterhewitt5803 Nothing to see boy, you can clearly see how Robby had the advantage in the first tournament, Miguel began to win when he began to hit his shoulder but of course Miguel left him. Regarding the school thing, they were both fighting quite well but what if I threw it out but they both had no mercy Miguel in the tournament and Robby in school if he did badly but he still paid for it, and the graduation Miguel may have marked the blows but it is clearly seen that Robby practically had him on his knees. Accept it Robby is better both fighter and character.
I just wanted to say something else. Eli @ Hawk really has one of the best redemption arcs on this show. This is how you should write a redemption arc!

Alright so here’s what I don’t get. Y’all say Robby is flip flop right. So when Hawk was flip flopping this whole series you love but when Robby does it you hate it. Hawk caused a lot of damage the first 3 seasons but always felt bad inside. Breaking his best friend’s arm, jumping Nate, stealing money, breaking into Miyagi Do taking the Medal of Honor, and vandalized the Larusso house and dislocated Robby’s shoulder in the first tournament when Robby was walking away. And also Miguel mind you also done his dirt too but y’all tend to forget that. He knew Robby had a injured shoulder in the first tournament but he still yanked it when Robby lended him a hand. Didn’t apologize till when they fought at the school which he escalated by the way by attacking Robby when they both were trying to stop the fight. And during the fight he mocked Robby’s relationship with his dad and Sam cheating on him , adding fuel to the flame making Robby more angrier, blinded by rage so by the time he said sorry he already done poked the bear. Yeah Robby did kick him but he didn’t mean to kick him off the second floor.
And honestly Miguel is not the lead character of the kids in the show. It’s spread out to 5 characters. Miguel, Robby, Sam, Tory, Hawk. They’re the protagonist of the show. They’re the new karate kids not just Miguel. There are different types of protagonists. The full hero, and the antihero. There are stories where the full hero has done dirt before or after becoming a full hero. And after looking at this show multiple times each of the main kid characters did their dirt

Even though you can make an argument for Miguel being the next “Karate Kid” since we started with him and all but everyone are the protagonists of this show, with their choices and actions, and consequences to their actions. Just because a character (specifically Miguel in this case) is the “main protagonist” or at least one of them, doesn’t mean he deserves special treatment, which I’ve seen a lot of people complain about his character this season. Was he nerfed? I guess, I mean what do you expect him to be after he landed on a metal bar and was in a coma for 2 weeks, in the best condition of his life and that happened a couple months ago in the show’s timeline. It’s ok for main characters to have long lasting struggles, which it seems people in general don’t understand in storytelling for some reason.

When Moon called Hawk by his real name “Eli“ that was very powerful moment. In Hebrew, Eli means “High” or “Elevated”. The “El” in Eli means “God”.
What Moon did was resonate a “Winning Spirit” in Eli by calling him by his REAL name… and we saw the results and boost of confidence in Eli‘s demeanor, attitude, and performance. Eli ELEVATED like a just HAWK would do… and he became the NEW ALL VALLEY CHAMPION. Very powerful scene.
I love Miguel and Robby, but it looks like you guys forgot how Miguel acted in the end of season 1, he fought dirty and hurt Robby. Im not saying Robby didn`t do anything, but miguel did bad things either

Honestly after Miguel got hurt I was done. It just knocked all the spirit and excitement out of me. I had to wait three days before I watched the finale. The finale was really good. Miguel gets the crap for real. He spent all last season getting to walk and fight again and this season he is knocked back down. Its really messed up but im hopeful next season Miguel will be fully healed and back to OG Miguel.

Miguel getting hurt and not returning to that match made sense but I would’ve really loved to see how the Hawk vs Miguel fight would’ve ended without the injury, it was such a highly anticipated matchup up until the injury🔥💯
Actors have a limited control of certain things on set, whether they try stunts, dialogue improv etc. As far as I know, they don't have any control of the storylines that the writers come up with unless it's something they have to work around.
Colton Haynes (Arsenal in Arrow) had medical problems during season 3 and requested to leave the show so the writers wrote Arsenal out in a way that worked. As far as I'm aware, the writers of Cobra Kai explained Miguel's arc in season 4 before they began filming, and Xolo was more than happy with it because it went in a direction that he was curious to explore

davion talking about how miguel just needs to leave and this is ruining him physically and mentally is so right. he’s been realizing the whole season that he’s tired of this stupid rivalry and the fact he’s being used in it. his decision of walking away from the tournament that he (in his words) didn’t feel like he was fighting for himself at was the best thing he could have done. and again davion saying he needs to leave i think him literally leaving to find his dad and whatever happens to him there (i’m sure johnny and robby will also get development too there with miguel directly as well) will hopefully build him back up and he’ll come back stronger than ever and maybe he’ll find a reason to fight again.
Haha Sam is the best if you think about it. Only one that hasn’t switched dojos. Only one that hasn’t cheated in a fight. It took her almost 4 whole seasons to instigate one fight and that was against a girl that had threatened her life a few times. Plus shes an Olympic level athlete who can jump building to building

I think Daniel might have learnt the Miyagi healing technique, but he's not confident about it, and he isn't at Miyagi's level yet, which is why he didn't do it on Robby in season 1, but we clearly saw that he was about to try the very technique on Robby. Idk, maybe he'll improve.

Miguel is still the best fighter.

(I'm talking about when they were on 1vs1), Robby couldn't beat a nerfed Miguel and had to push him to the pool, he didn't even came close of beating Miguel as he could still keep fighting.
They played a more epic version of the song that was playing when Miguel and Hawk fought in season 2.

I Felt the same way after Miguel got injured and wasn't able to defend his title. Then to add to that feeling Hawk beats Robbie. I was so done after watching that episode. I had to force myself to watch episode 10. I'm glad I did because it brought back the love for the show. The ending made up for this season to be a good season.
