The cop who checks his phone. His wife was one of the teachers killed. Sources says that authorities took him aside and took his firearm away from him. I saw the full video. He says “my wife’s shot.” He paces for a couple of minutes and walks out on his own merit. It doesn’t seem his was forced to withdraw by anyone. If that was my wife in there, I’d be rushing in no questions asked. One of the many acts of cowardice we have seen in this video.

I can’t help but laugh. A certain community my family is a part of has been saying it for DECADES: You cannot trust the police. But, everyone still wants to believe they’re the good guys. Wait until you’re the victim of police wrongdoing, police abuse, or police abuse of power… then your eyes will FINALLY be wide open. I was 26 when it happened to me. A cop messed up big time and caused us both to get into a very bad accident. I might lose my legs in my 40s and I’m disabled for life regardless. And the cops? Well, they’re sitting on their cushy pension sipping margaritas somewhere. Nothing happened to them for abusing me on scene while injured nor for lying on the police report to try and cover up his mistake. They just acted like nothing happened while making sure to intimidate a naive and scared woman in her 20s. Never. Again. I’ll take my chances with a burglar and my right to defend myself rather than call the cops. They’re the scariest gang on the planet… unless they have to put themselves in danger, that is. This is why police officers need to be held to the same standards as regular citizens. You won’t see veterans in combat running from a fight unless they are out numbered. Even then they would regroup to still push forward. Why, because the oath we take is for the protection of our families. Our lives are worth sacrificing for the love of our families and country. Police officers today are only in uniform for the power they possess and the ability to be incompetent and still keep a job. That entire precinct needs to be replaced. I’m a teacher in Ohio. I keep a card in my wallet stating that if I am ever killed in a school shooting, I want my body shown to the world. Someone has to stand up for our kids and teachers. The reality of these weapons needs to be shown. We can’t pretend this is okay.

The police response falls far short of rising to the level of "pathetic". Had their response been twice as good as it was, it would still not have been good enough to be called pathetic. Individual activity shown in that video shows a CLEAR lack of basic response skills any cadet should be taught - simple ability to take cover was not apparent. There was also a clearly indicated lack of direction - no leadership. They failed to clear any space but that one hallway, and failed to take any action to isolate the shooter, who was known to be acting alone. Had this been a class of cadets in day one of training, I would not be too surprised, but these were actual police officers. They don't deserve to be called pathetic. It's far too nice a word.

As a police dispatcher I am beyond disgusted with the officers failure to properly SERVE their community. I am not only a dispatcher but I volunteered with the tactile response team and the most important thing officers are trained is immediate action.

Speaking as a paratrooper who served in the 82nd Airborne and deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan, I can say unequivocally that training is critical to performing effectively in combat situations, which includes any kind of active shooter scenario.

Been in the Army, and at 22 years old, I was willing to stop my convoy in Iraq when I saw a roadside bomb strapped to a light pole, stand right beside the bomb while using hand signals to back up al1 17 vehicles (hummvees, big military trucks, and 18-wheeler contractor trailer trucks) to a safe location 300 meters away. Yet, these cowardice police officers can't make a moral choice and go in to protect these unarmed children. There's a saying that heroes don't wear capes, and I have another one: sometimes those wearing heroic uniforms aren't heroes. I hope these police officers are decommissioned and replaced by out of precinct officers who actually care about doing their job. My heartfelt Condolences to all the mothers, fathers and families who lost their loved ones in Texas mass shooting 🙏

He says “my wife’s shot.” He paces for a couple of minutes and walks out on his own merit. It doesn’t seem his was forced to withdraw by anyone.

Individual activity shown in that video shows a CLEAR lack of basic response skills any cadet should be taught - simple ability to take cover was not apparent. There was also a clearly indicated lack of direction - no leadership. They failed to clear any space but that one hallway, and failed to take any action to isolate the shooter, who was known to be acting alone.
Had this been a class of cadets in day one of training, I would not be too surprised, but these were actual police officers.

What I hate more than anything when I saw the graphic version of this video, I know they say they muffled the sounds of the kids screaming, but you can still hear them screaming. It rips my heart out that the kids were calling for help that didn't come in time.

These news reports really make me want go up to heaven myself and pass away to see and hug these little children who could have been a high school graduate one day just like me graduating on June 3rd with the class of 2022 but I can’t really take my own life away to see these angels because I am only 19 and I still have many years ahead of me and a lot of people are proud of me right now for graduating at the top 50 of my class and going to college in August to study Computer Science.I would have had the courage to take down the gun man myself if I could that day instead of those corrupt officers.

So 4 shots were fired after the first encounter in the classroom? the video says after 45 minutes another 4 shots were fired after the initial sounds of shots.. so basically everyone was already dead or dying.. horrible.. On Monday the UCISD Police Department hosted an “Active Shooter Training” at the Uvalde High School. Our overall goal is to train every Uvalde area law enforcement officer so that we can prepare as best as possible for any situation that may arise. We have hosted several of these courses and plan to continue to do so. I would like to thank UCISD Officers Adrian Gonzales, Ruben Ruiz and UCISD Lieutenant Mike Hernandez for instructing the course. Additionally, we would like to thank Dr. Harrell and Mr. Mueller for supporting our plans to keep our children and staff safe. Great job to everyone!!
