- In a shocking incident reported in Salem Division of Southern Railway, the Locopilots of a relief engine were allegedly pressured to run the engine at 50 kmph instead of the maximum prescribed limit of 15 kmph to prevent punctuality loss.
According to railway sources, a freight train was held up due to a locomotive failure between Veerapandi Road and Magudan Chavidi railway stations leading to a section block on March 14, 2024. A following freight train was detained at Veerapandi Road railway station and the locomotive detached for relief operation.
The Station Master gave authorisation ‘T/A 602’, which is an authority for the Locopilot to cross the signal in red and without line clear at a speed not exceeding 15 kmph during the day and 10 kmph at night. The Locopilots proceeded as per the instructions and moved the detained rake in mid-section to the next destination, the sources said.

T 369 3(B) milne ke baad signal ko cross karne ki speed 15 km/hr hai. Kyuki points ko protect krna hota h, uske baad block section main booked speed se chal sakte hain. Haan track pr train hai to 15km/hr visibility good hone pr or 8km/hr visibility low hone pr chlna pdega.
नियम में 10 या 15 की स्पीड क्यों लिखी है? उस नियम को बदलकर सीधे सीधे 50 की स्पीड लिख दे। यदि नियम के अनुसार स्पीड 15 या 10 की है तो लोको पायलट 50 को स्पीड पर नहीं चल पाएगा

Locopilot was right in following the 15 Km/hr caution, hence he cannot be chargesheeted for this.
यदि स्टेशन मास्टर के दिये गए लिखित आदेशो के विरुद्ध मोबाइल पर दिए गए मौखिक आदेशो को लिख कर मांगना चाहिए अन्यथा सिर्फ लिखित आदेशो को ही मानना चाहिए। यदि कोई गलत आदेशो को लिखकर भी देता है तो भी सेफ्टी वर्किंग होने के कारण गलत आदेश नही मानना चाहिए। यदि आप मौखिक गलत आदेश मान लेते है और यदि कुछ हो जाता है तो आपको कोई नही बचा सकता है।यदि सही आदेश मानते है तो आपके अफसर सिर्फ परेशान कर सकते है या आगे कोई आपकी गलती ढूढेंगे।

In general days... it is Ok if the Station Master askes to speed up the train... But looking at the past conditions where things go wrong... Dept always try to throw the blame on Pilots... It is better to follow the Printed Norms to run at 15 Kmph but not as suggested by Station MAster. Days are not favouring to Pilots... So... Just follow prescribed rules to protect self while on enquiry.
