I could see a time when Sword & Shield/Sun & Moon and newer Alt arts/Secret Rares will out price vintage cards now because of how hard they are to pull. Basically if you didnt chase the card or buy it when it came out or soon after the prices of packs will be too high to justify opening hundreds to maybee find one of the cards your chasing in the future...Like spending $200 for a fossil pack you have around a 1/3 chance to get a holo. I cant imagine spending 50...80..150 for packs that youre very unlikely to pull anything good from. Its hard to speculate but thats what im thinking could happen if Pokemon continues to stay relevant. Its already starting with Team Up..which cost just as much as some Black & White packs now..ive been watching Sun & Moon sealed stuff soar on ebay lately.
I went though my collection and looked up recent auctions. 2024 is 🔥 so far

I somehow pulled a first appearance Lugia when I was a kid. Didn't realize it was worth anything until fairly recently. It only came back as a PSA 3 though 😢 I wish I had a time machine to go back and smack 9 year old me for not taking better care of it lol

that Lillie is insane. I have no clue how that cant be manipulation. Im not saying it is but the Japanese cards are way better quality when printed compared to english. Unless that Lillie is ridiculously hard to pull. and btw, I know this is a top pokemon channel but it would be pretty cool and unique one off if you did a top list on all the PSA 10 power 9 and land cards from Alpha/Beta. I know they rarely come up on ebay but there's like no lists done on them. probably cause theyre usually traded privately.
However that Lillie is a lot lower than its peak. PSA 10 was selling at 40-50k last year
