I loved the purple lazer as a kid but it really made you get absorbed into the game because you had to button smash to keep up the max damage...Later as a lazy adult , i prefer the spray red weapon. I worked up too much sweat with the purple weapon and once you die, its like the purple aint even worth it in the later levels to button smash.
Bullets in Touhou: I would like to create a beautiful pattern while looks intimidating. Bullets in Raiden: I would like to kill that red/blue flying bastard.
This game is really beautiful. You have to appreciate the level of detail especially for the the time it was made. Just look at the subtle little details like a crashing aircraft hitting a building it is actually rendering a authentic crater and building damage. Or all the shrapnel hitting the different surfaces. It's a shame it is only available on so few systems.. ie PS and arcade :P

That's not always the case in games of this era.

진짜 내가 초딩때 라이덴 씹고인물이였는데 이 사람은 진짜다. 진심 고인물을 넘어서 생산노동직에 100% 기계와 일체화가 된 실수 오차범위 1% 밖에 안되는 로봇 그 자체다. 마지막 단계 우주에서 맨날 죽어서 마지막 스테이지 그 한단계 빨간 다이아몬드 박힌 보스를 깨질못했는데 와 쓰벌.... 말이안나온다
The purple "whip" gun is the most bad ass gun in a top down shooter ever. God DAMN I used to play the hell out of this in the arcade as a kid!
