Wow! This was all definitely a blast from the past. I used to come down here with my dad, mum and my sister and when the track was clear I used to have a little practice. Also enjoyed sitting on the speedway bikes on the trailer down to the gate so that I could open & close the main gate (Health and safety wasn’t a thing back then). This video has brought loads of memories back. Cheers for the nostalgia trip. I think we might’ve even been here at this meet. This place was his chapel and speedway was his religion and he would’ve loved this 🍺🙂
my husband's brother rode there in 1983/4 when it was used for trainning .Barry Thomas i think built the track and had 4 different corners a great place and its great to see it is still going.if you rode there in those years like to know.
I rode there in 72ish. Barry would park his car by the start gate and sit napping whilst his brother Ivor did all the work! Ivor was a lovely feller and taught us well. He would stand in the middle of the track at the first corner. You would do a normal start and go to the right of Ivor, So you had no choice, put the back wheel out to take the corner or if not you would hit the fence. Which in those days was just hay bales. I got my bikes second hand from Dave Jessup who lived a couple of miles away.
