đȘMY WORKOUT PROGRAM FOR BUSINESS OWNERS:
#LawnCareMillionaire #LawnCareBusiness #MikeAndes
I am glad everyone is OK. For me this is still a win no matter the outcome:
1 - You continue the challenge and meet/beat it, showing systems can overcome even huge issues like taking a whole truck out of the equation.
2 - You continue the challenge and fail it, showing time and circumstance can unfortunately defeat the laid best plans, but more important show picking up the pieces rather than giving up and how to take what might make you want to throw in the towel, deal with it, resolve the issues it raises, and move forward.
Honestly number 2 is actually probably more helpful to most of us, because while this is just a month long challenge if someone is really starting a business for the long haul there will absolutely be MULTIPLE times that this kind of stuff crops up and makes you think 'what's the point of continuing' and this is a real life lesson in how and why to keep soldering on.
For the regular/ non Mike Andes type of guy. If THIS would make you think of quitting...you've already lost. When you have job & obligations to employees, yourself and creditors, you always need spare equipment. We always carried double equipment every day and had a spare truck , or at least a truck on light duty that could handle it all with overtime.
@@ronjclm8590 i tried to start lawn mowing business last year. had two weekly cutomers....haha. but...my truck broke down in feb. just before this year spring rush. When i was really hoping to capitalize and pick up lots of clients. But we have two trucks. i dont do cars. haha. so we double timed the 83 chevy. It got my wife and i to work and i used it to pick up 5 new clients i know it does not sound like much but we both work full time jobs the mowing is hopefully a way out of working for someone else eventually.. but we did got through the "rush" with the one truck. now we have both trucks back and are trucking along....pun intended haha Keep pushing. if u are truly doing this series for the regular guy like me, giving up is not an option. unless i wanna work for someone else my whole life.
Anyone can quit, We have been grinding and pushing for 14 years. No excuses-just solutions. You don't always get it right the first time, but never give up!
Wow! This series just took a major turn!
The series showcases every day problems of running your own business and having employees. Stuff will happen. Equipment will be stolen, damaged, broken, lost and so on. Its all about how you handle it and bounce back. That's the real stuff right there.
P.S. The front suspension on that truck will definitely need to be repaired prior to it being driven. Probably bent control arms, shocks, axle and even wheel. Get it checked out and repaired for your own safety and the team.
Absolutely. Stuff doesnât go to plan. All you can do is focus on what you can control. Effort over results, results will eventually come.
I would rent a truck and not try to drive that until it's fully examined / repaired
Cancelling because of a rain delay sounds like an excuse to cancel...I suspect another reason.
Iâm glad T-bone is ok. Nothing but love for that guy. Keep on truckinâ crew!
Everything happens for a reason. Can't get mad have to learn how to handle your situation. Cool calm and collected.
Who else is inspired by Mike Andes
đ
Definitely đŻ
Meeee
I am! I'm gonna start doing door hangers today or next week on Monday. Excited to start this journey
âïž
So glad Terrance was ok - and hope the others involved werenât injured. You can finish this strong đȘ
He needs to get fired immediatelyâ
As unfortunate as the event is, it's inspiring to see you navigate and persevere through the circumstances & challenges. You are such an inspiration to many brother!!
Man... I'm shaking.... I know that gut punch all too well.... Working on building my irrigation repair business and was CRUSING!!! Then, end of August, COVID struck.... In hospital. Lost momentum.... Started getting back, then, clutches went out in my Rangers, was forced to go to the farm truck and it broke down.... Finally got everything settled and then the middle of October the slow season hits .... I was literally almost in tears watching you react to this. It is SO REFRESHING to see you dealing with situations like this. You have taken over my entire play list and podcast history. I am chewing through your content at a mad rate and have been so inspired by you. Then to see you, as successful as you are, be in a situation like this and watch you handle it, man, it just inpaires me even more. Thank you!
I have a video or podcast request for you, Mike... You talk about the three levels of stress. Physical, Financial and Emotional. Could you do an entire episode or video on how you and others you know have dealt with the stress of each level? I know it would be different for each person, but I think we could all benefit on seeing how someone else does it, to use as a jumping point on finding our own peace.
I love your content, you've helped my business tremendously. Thank you!
Mike youâve done so much for this community and industry. I am glad everyone is safe and Iâm sorry you have to go through this. This may not be something you want to hear now but I have a feeling that somehow this will be a blessing in disguise for you and your business.
Thank you again for everything and stay strong brother!
Will keep you and your team in my prayers
Currently saving money for my own truck and equipment while working for a landscaping company. I already get recommendations for small side jobs so might as well get at it. These video help me alot.
I seldom think about tow trucks, so next week I'll pay attention and see if they still exist. You should always use a Rollback . After an accident, towing with the damaged front end on the ground supporting extra weight & a front tire with low pressure...seems like a bad idea.
That AI receptionist sounded pretty dang realistic. I would love to get something like this for my exterior cleaning business. Are you planning to open up access to companies outside Augusta/ landscaping? This could be huge!
Yeah um, Obama, Trump, Bush, and Biden play Zombies together AI voices are crazy atm.
We had all 3 projects cancel this week. It's definitely taking It's toll on morale. Just need the good weeks to be profitable enough to weather the bad ones.
Good content Mike, reality at its finest. Remember, if he brings you to it, he will bring you through it!
Im happing you really care about your people, I remember when something like this happen on my company my boss asked what tf happens instead of asking if we were fine. Lets keep it rolling.
As much as I don't like voice automated systems, you seem to have a good grasps on my gripes (and many others) with voice automated systems - which gives me confidence you and your team will end up with a good product.
You're adding a large database of possible questions/responses, the delays (although very slight) are an annoyance; but you picked up on it quickly and I wasn't sure you would - which is really important for elderly who are more likely to say "HELLO?!" when they don't get a quick response; the voice doesn't sound annoyingly robotic, and the AI's follow up questions were very specific and relevant. Your system sounds 100x better than some of these multi-billion dollar company's! I truly believe you're on the right track here!
Sorry to hear about that wreck! Seeing you and your team's over this series and your videos in general, there's no doubt in my mind y'all get things back on track.
Amazing series Mike and team!
This is my first video of yours. Your answering the AI in a way that you know how to answer it. Normal ppl wouldn't talk to it like that.
Gotta start somewhere. Itâs learning every day â
Most people hang up when they realize their not talking to a real person.
Wheres the pretrip checklist? If you have systems in place and its a commercial vehicle, flares or triangles, a spare with air, a jack that can lift a loaded vehicle and a mower, cross lug wrench. Come on, those are basic "got to haves". When u pull up to an accident, is anyone hurt, is the site secure from further danger? .glad everyone will live to fight another day.
Well, I thought I was having a rough week fighting the rain. Winners find a way to win. Losers find a way to loose. Great job guys.
Thanks for not firing him I honestly thought you were going to fire him youâre awesome accidents happen đđ€
Super impressed that your AI is trying to upsell on the phone already. I'm just sitting over here trying to get talk to text to work.
Reminds me that some people that I know with heavy accents can't use talk to text at all. Maybe AI can learn the multiple was to say the same word.
@ronjclm8590 worst part is I'm from the midwest. I thought that's where people went because we are boring and other than our screwed up A's have the least accent.
so Terrance decides to move for this job knowing he had a kid coming. Then suddenly the wife is giving birth and Augusta has to shut down because Terrance needs a day off. Then Terrance runs a red light and crashes the pickup. Makes mike buy more equipment like the blower to make his life easier around bushes instead of hustling with a rake or make the backpack do. Any little issues he has with customers he has to call Mike for advise but yet wants to be a gm. All of this not even 30 days into the job. Now he gets transferred to another established location fully expecting him to perform where he couldn't even make it past 30 days at this one?. Dude needs to go, you don't just land a gm position with false pretenses.
What is going on??
âKnowing he had a kid comingâ you canât deny employment based off of that unless you want a lawsuit.
@@joaquinben4458this guy talking out his ass Lmao. He calls Mike to tell him he did something not to ask for advice. The blower was an investment and a good one at that (mike agreed). The only actual bad thing Terrance has done is this wreck.
đ Don't listen to this guy Terrence. Haters gonna hate
@@gooterafterdarkwhat landscaping company doesnât have blowers lol. This dude talking about âhustling with a rakeâ đ
Hey I live in Whatcom county too! I see you on Meridian Street all the time, had no clue you had a youtube channel.
Im not caught up with ai but what you guys are trying to do with it sounds really good so far.
Mike if u need an extra truck our company has been renting u hauls 19 a day plus miledge .. least till you get your other one back up and goin!
Well thatâs just like someone has already said. Stuff happens. People get hurt ,bit have accidents. You just have to keep your head up and keep moving forward. We donât live in a perfect world and weâre not perfect so just learn to deal with adversity and move on. Thatâs all u can do really!!! Great job
Terrence is a good guy. As a landscape business owner you can tell when someone has it within a day. My opinion he does not, but think he would be a good asset to you somewhere outside GM position.
You donât know how he works
â@@dcatullosaw all he needs to see.....
Way to stay positive Mike. I think your frame is bent a little if that tire is pushed back that far. Hopefully everyone is alright.
Heâs killing it bro with content and his businesses crazy bro
It's probably a bent control arm and maybe a few other parts in the suspension. Easy to change out and get a replacement if it's jacked up properly. Sockets and an impact wrench, breaker bar. CZcams tutorials and compare to the uncrashed side. Be resourceful. One thing this channel doesn't touch on a whole lot. Learn stuff, fixing, modifying things can really help in a business. A lot of things I can do faster then even orginising someone else to do it.
If the frames bent it's not allowed on the road
â@LoonyGaming thats not true at all. A vehicle can have a bent frame and have it straightened and be perfectly fine being put right back on the road.
â@@Turkeltoni fixed a ranger frame with a D4 once
@bread-gz3rl I mean that could fix anyones frame if you sneeze lol
@mikeandes that is a bent or broken lower control arm or bent front axle
That AI technology is interesting
Install cameras in and outside of the trucks. Over 90% of employees get in to accidents while talking on the cell phone.
That frame is got to be bent, replace the truck for safety reasons
Honestly from experience: I have been involved in accident, 1. If the vehicle costs more on repairs and have salvaged title itâs best to just junk and replace. When I was involved in accident I was 19 but itâs a family owned buisness and I still drive for it but more involved in ford flatbed. (The vehicle that was junked was f350 pickup) after the collision the lady and child was okay however they wanted to sue both me, the owner and company âdue to injury & or loss of wagesâ in the beginning we were worried I went crazy removing money from accounts however they couldnât sue me or owner for financial gains regarding the accident. 1. They had license sus 2. Their vehicle was paid and remaining was provided for them. Even if at the time I wasnât insured they couldnât sue us personally because thatâs why we had general liability for the business.
Max doesnât even know heâs talking to his creator, sounds incredible.
Oh wowđČ Now this became a super challenge. Let's go guys! You can do itđđđ
Saw you guys near Charlotte NC!
Jesus man, it just shows obstacles always happen everywhere for everyone. I hope everyone is okay!
But also mike the way you handle this stuff as the owner, the hustle doesn't stop with you. You guys made the right moves and now just keep plugging away and it will happen!
Can't thank you and your team enough for making me know I can do SO much more I just need to get it done. Keep up the good stuff man!
Blasphemy
Bent control arms my man! The front end got tweaked pretty good in that hit.
Iâm worried for Terrance
just went with servicebot for online quotes and processing but the ai phone sounds amazinggg!!!
You put this up to show systems work. You then didn't follow your own systems and failed. Now in part 2 you can enable your systems and prove they work. Just glad everything worked out. Terrance has a location his efforts weren't in vain and he can proceed with personal plans to move. And you will have an Augusta experinced GM to run the new location that will make training easier while trying to deal with the media. And he will be closer to home. It seems like a very winnable situation in the end. Well except for the truck.
The truck needs surgery đšââïž đ„đ
You guys do good work! đ but I have a question. Do you know how to change a tire? Another thing the truck spare tire is factory size. u have smaller tires on it, there maybe more front end damage then u can see.
man i hate this rain im in virginia beach and i cant get any jobs done
Check with your Local Penske dealer, I was able to get a 16 foot unit for 20 a day .10 cents a mile for work. Call the branch directly during the week, they tend to try to move the abundance equipment "16 foot and Transit vans"
That Ai software will be huge when its done, if you license it to other home service industries, this would be a multi multi million dollar business.
Sucks to see the truck all messed up but I know the video content creator in you was excited lol
Real as it gets
glad Terrance is ok, hope the other party are all good as well.
nice pivot, good luck
it's not easy
Anytime lawyers get involved, everyone loses. Nothing more that a lawyer likes hearing, than the car I was in an accident with was a company vehicle.... I feel ya man.
Mike, my man! If you think folks are "different" in the Charlotte metro area, come to the east side of I-95 to "Down East" North Carolina where I am. You'll wonder if you are on a different planet!
Why? How the people there?
LOL I used to work at TruGreen in Charlotte and if an employee gets in a wreck itâs a 0 tolerance policy theyâre fired.
Here someone gets in a wreck, you meet up with him at the scene and say âCongratulations! Youâre promoted to GM!â
People will often look for any reason to cancel something if they were at all on the fence to begin with.
mke you're smart af, if anyhting youve already proven that your system/franchise is built for success.
Great content Mike
Why no signed contracts so people can't back out of the job. On my contract if they cancel I get 50% regardless
I would like to no more about that after hours phone call using A.I. how was that done? how was it setup? what is the cost? etc....
Would the insurance not give you a rental truck you can use in its place while the truck is being fixed?
That Ai is wild
I thought that was pretty good I bet itâs even better now. I wish you had an option for a call center for other trades. When you do it for the HVAC industry Iâm in.
I think there should be a voice option, 1 leave a message or 2 speak with a virtual assist to more correctly route your message. when people figure it out half way there is an irritation and feeling of being tricked.
So did he say he came around the corner and missed the light and ran it ? Was it a genuine mistake and accidentally missed a red light or was he on his phone, texting etc and run the red light? How do you handle employee misconduct if they wreck a truck at fault? I hate that for him, but as a business, thatâs a really tough decision
if he was texting and driving, he learned from Mike! I think Mike is great and an incredible business mind...but his driving scares me. I thought for sure it was going to me Mike who had wrecked.
I'm more of an in person type of guy . Mower is based on seeing what is in the yard and the size of the yard . My price is based on square footage and ease of the job .
What is the cost to the franchisee per minute for a robot? Will this ever be offered to all copilot members?
Same as regular caller. $1.09/min. The efficiency of having after hours covered will allow us to keep rates to Augusta far below industry average despite rising wages â
General Automotive is the shop name. I can get to it Saturday morning brutha
the tow truck driver is going to tow it with the front wheel rubbing, the tire is pushed back. It should be towed from the front....no?
Would Terrance have been reassigned to Concord if he didn't get in an accident? I'm not sure if reassigning someone when they're already feeling awful is the best thing to do.
Keep in mind I cut details from the video that could put team members in a negative light
@MikeAndes understandable. It's your company, so got to do what's best for the company and the employee.
@@MikeAndes IDK..you did tell us that he had 8 kids. That's a lot of responsibility for a millionaire. Bad judgement for a startup. Flame away !!!
â@@ronjclm8590I see you understand. Lol. Agusta never admits their faults. It's always a redirect at something else.
@@icac6122 I don't see it that way. I admire @MikeAndes drive. but I dislike many of his proceedures and the way he looks at things. But he's rich and I'm...old and comfortable.
You also need dashcams on all company vehicles
TERRANCE đą AFTER A STORM ITS CLEAR THANK GOD YOUR OK
I'd rather get a voicemail rather than dealing with a robot.... I instantly get a horrible taste with companies that have robot call centers......
The AI telephone system is amazing!
I realized youâre in my area after hearing some of your location references, good luck with your business venture.
On a serious note, have you considered that you may be trying to grow too fast at the moment? I hear a lot of âhire someoneâ & having to be on a timeline to make things happen by a certain point, but of the business isnât available, growing too fast can kill a business very quickly.
Iâm not saying that in a âdemeaningâ wayâŠBut being in the area youâre in & having personal experiences with the landscaping business around here (being seeing a business grow very profitable and another fail) Iâm curious if you think having the âchallengeâ will inevitably be the failure point?
I had a truck totaled last year by an employee. Pretty frustrating.
Hey Mike, Iâm 14 and running about 15k a year lawn care company and Iâve got some commercial propertyâs that want me to mow for them but Iâm 14 so I donât have a tax ID would they 1099 me or am I good to mow it with no issues
You legally aren't allowed to mow their property. That's crazy.
They would either 1099 you personally or under your business name. They should be asking for a W-9 to collect your info. If you're doing it solo, you don't need an EIN just your SSN.
Have it in your contacts that if they cancel they will be charged the time u have invested to do estaminets gas to and from
I think you should always have a back up truck available that is all kitted up so if this happens next time you would be able to your goal. I know when I had my 2016 honda civic out because of the cvt transmission power chain some how broke had my car in the shop for a couple of weeks had have parents drive me to work some of the week then uber moral of the story is to have a back up plan or vehicle in this case you never know what might happen.
Wow that AI sounds like a real person. I know you still have a ways to go with it but Great job so far.
I hate robocalls.
I spend the whole time thinking, "This company doesn't care enough to actually talk to people."
I prefer to talk to humans.
You need a tire rod thatâs why it bent back into your fender !! Trust me Iâm a mechanic!
Great job on the AI bud
Suspension is dic'd the wheel shouldn't be that close to the fender. It's going to be a write-off.
You go mike!!!!
ill tell you right now its not because of the tire size... the front end tie rods and or control arms are more than likely bent and smashed back just enough now to make the tire start rubbing
What do you do if you have a great employee but he gets in an accident like once a month??? thats not sustainable..
Iâve mowed twice in the past 5 weeks iL is hardly getting any rain can you spare us some?
I hear you man. Iâm in Central IL and things are really crispy. Been pushing a lot of shrub trimming since early June. Might finally get a little something this weekend for rain but not getting my hopes up.
The robot is very "Uncanny Valley". Sounds clearly fake, but trying to hard to sound human.
I think you would be better off going more Siri than Mike. Definitely put your voice model in it, but don't try to hide it being a robot so much. People these days are used to the robots. having a good, quick robot is far better than having one that sounds like a human.
Gotta start somewhere
@@MikeAndes For sure. It's people like you, that are game to try, that really push this tech to the next level. Will be great when its trained a bit more, and can connect to all your other systems!!
So did he run a red light? Is that how the accident happened?
Couple things,
1. Ai is sounding đ«Ą
2. When you said integrated with copilot, does that mean we will have access to it?
3rd. Where is Chucks series đ it was good and so informative
4th. Thanks for the series bro đ€
What was the cost to start the business tho
Dang that must be so tough:(
Iâm really confused as to why Terrence was moved to another location because he got in a wreck.
@@augustalawncareofsouthside8188him staying home wasnât an issue? Heâs going to work at the underperforming Concord the next day and Chandler is going to work the new location. Something else is going on.
Not BECAUSE of the wreck. Because his new apartment is in that location and the other guy lives in this location.
He was most likely moved to the other location as a general employee.
It's just real life man.. that would put most people out of business or make them quit
It is likely the frame is bent the whole tire is sitting further back than it should. Potentially a total loss situation.
Mike idk if you read the comments or if you have a team handling your media, but I will say that I respect the reason to using artificial intelligence bots to save money for your buisness I really do as a fellow buisness owner I just hope you have done your research on the capabilities of artificial intelligence and what it can if gotten out of control, one more thing what is your college degree in ?
lmao of course the wheel hits the fender, the fucking control arms are bent back! was plainly obvious at a glance the wheel was pushed back.
How many YEARS of after hours answering could you get for the $100k+ phone bot that already existed at a fraction of that cost.
An AI phone bot is not an asset. By all means use one - you can go get a top shelf pro trained one that can back up normal operators 24 / 7 for $25k. Your hardware will be outdated in 2 years and the professional bot will be a decade ahead of yours.
This isnât like making a branded CRM or op software, life cycle is 100th of those and at best your paying to reinvent the wheel.
Love the videos, great speaking, great advice but Iâd go get an independent opinion on the AI investment. Waiting 3 months longer will save you 18 months of dev
And chances are they are having another system code it anywaysâŠ.
Keep up the great videos. TYVM
Could it be easier just to hire a answering service or just employ real people to be just customer overnight service. I know from personal experience automated answering service's are always a nightmare and frustrating. It's a cool idea but I bet I could beat your answering robot with customer service in mind. I think the biggest problem with it is sounds so impersonal and when your customers are your life blood you want to cater to them on a more understanding and personal level. Are people perfect no do we make mistakes yes but as far as making a connection with a potential customer we can't be beat.
Also I'm super glad everyone is alright I know it sucks to have a truck down but it's easier to replace a truck than a life. I want to see your system win!!
side note the control arm is bent that's why the wheel is so far back.
