    Rocky's dialogue to the reporter sums up the entire format of the movie for me.

    "Subtlety doesn't mean a movie is great. Subtlety is just a quality [that a work of art can choose to have or not have]" - All the modern Indian critics that review movies, read this line again and again. This is what separates a true critic (Master Bardwaj Rangan) from the likes of you. A Broader mind.

    Its the creativity/intelligence of the director.....
    And in KGF universe Prashant Neel did it brilliantly......
    The research he made to elevate the scene was something new in a commercial movie....

    The editing for KGF 2 was like a strategy video game. There was a lot of world building. The characters had to travel through the movie like a chess game. Everytime the audience overcame an obstacle, the narrator would enter and move the movie forward. Hence, the start and stop in the flow. That made it feel like a trailer.

    • @sruthisanthirathasan855
      @sruthisanthirathasan855 Před 2 lety +8

      That's exactly what I felt when watching the movie. Those pauses in scenes where it goes black then back into the scene is exactly what happens in a trailer. (spoiler) You can see it especially in the chase scene to get back Reena.

      This kind of editing increases the momentum of dialogue scenes. But action scenes were poorly edited imo. Due to rapid cutting, we can't clearly see who is hitting who and there is a lack of clarity and spatial awareness. KGF 1 was more problematic in this aspect. This is where RRR shines. The scale of action sequences are even bigger than KGF. But you can clearly understand everything that is happening in each frame because of the brilliant action choreography, direction and editing. For a movie which has a basic storyline, u need that cuts - backnforth.. it's good for momentum so that it never feels bored..

    @jaiprakashnt Před 2 lety +25

    To people who has a doubt on
    Why Rocky left adheera alive
    Why adheera left Rocky alive
    Rocky left adheera alive because when people in kgf were doubting whether to continue mining or not, Rocky wanted someone to keep the fear in the people so that they continue mining.
    If adheera is killed then the people has no reason to support Rocky as they know that if adheera is alive, he'll torture them into mining.
    Why adheera left Rocky alive
    Adheera what's to get into kgf but it's absolutely impossible with the support of 20,000 slaved people in kgf and headed by Vaanaram.
    So adheera first has to kill the faith on Rocky and show everyone that the so called "Rocky" who killed Garuda is nothing compared to Adheera 🔥

    Sanjay Dutt was scary only by the way his character was designed. On the screen, he was over-the-top animated and loud. When you watch Bhalladeva or Raghuvaran from Shiva, you just hate them right from the beginning. Or, also the negative characters in Vetrimaran's movies, for example you just want them to die; that's how a negative character should be.

    When I saw KGF 1, I thought the whole thing was a pretty generic mass hero affair - except for the look and feel of the film, which strongly resembles Tamil film Porkkalam (2010) directed by Bandi Saroj Kumar. Going by what Bandi has said in interviews, he is of the same opinion. Not to take away from Prashant however. Even if Porkkalam did influence him, that shows excellent taste. And by the time you get to KGF 2, it's more or less completely his baby. I have not seen it, but all the public reviews and Rangan's reaction assures me that Prashant now owns this vein of mass filmmaking.

    • @knight794
      @knight794 Před 2 lety

      @tylermoore4429 Před 2 lety +2

      @@knight794 Yup I am aware, but I was alluding to the color palette, design and tone of the film. Telugu mass films from the 90's, which Prashant cites, never played much with these elements. After KGF 1's success in the Telugu states, we are starting to see bolder experimentation from Telugu filmmakers in Akhanda and Pushpa.
      By the way Bandi Saroj Kumar is a Telugu director who chose to make his debut in Tamil with Porkkalam because of his assessment that the Tamil audience would be more receptive to his style. In the end, the film did not work at the boxoffice, but it has been hugely influential in an underground sort of way. And Rangan gave a glowing review of Porkkalam back in 2010.

      @Realist Studios wow, can't argue with that sort of logic, you know that Ar Rahman sir won those 2 Oscars for an Hollywood movie made mainly in English and Hindi, but you still make this sort of an argument, atleast the first point makes some sense, although one has to wonder why only Mother India won and Laagan came close, both from Bollywood, one more important point, Soorarai Pottru was not India's official nomination, what does that tell us? It's mostly about marketing and sponsoring for a nomination, anyway winning an stupid Oscar is no way a measure of a good movie or an industry.
