Nice, I had a brand spanking new 2000 series II that I loved, but at 50,000 miles the green paint had faded, the roof liner came unglued and hung down, replaced the main throwout bearing twice, ABS, Power streering failed, and the rear U-joint had to much play and would make a thump sound, head gasket blew at 40,000, I spent over $10,000.00 dollars on engine repairs, but when the Landy ran it was the greatest vehicle one could hope for, I just could not afford the upkeep.
So did I but Td5, facelifted,manual, 5 seats, no leather, poverty spec but bigger comet wheels . Last of the proper landies before the electric rubbish came in. Limo, bus,tractor, grocery getter, tow anything. Gutted when gasket blew so got rid for peanuts during Covid.
Nice camera work. As an automotive photographer, I've eriven land rovers often, but, how reliable is this? They have a bad reputation for being a money pit, but I've never owned one.
Thanks! The early Discoveries are relatively reliable. I wouldn't own one past 2001. But in general, they're good cars. But they're also 20+ years old now, so they're bound to have issues. Land Rovers in general certainly are unreliable. They didn't earn that reputation for nothing. But I would say that they aren't as bad as people make them out to be. With that said, it's still probably my favourite car brand. There's nothing quite like them on the road from how they drive to their capability. If you have deep pockets, I'd recommend them. However, if you're skint, then owning one of these cars no matter the model can certainly put you in a tough position.
