Would really love to see a breakdown of the top goalie prospects/rookies in the NHL. Levi, Askarov, Wolf, Wallstedt etc

We aren't goalie expert. We could ask Greig, our goalie scout, to make it. Stay tuned.

Faber is so good and he is debuting at a time when the Wild desperately need good defense his play has been a revelation to a very bad Wild team.

Been watching him since he was a freshman in HS (before the USNDP). You could see it then. A fantastic player that will only get better (scary thought) He will win at least one Norris in his career. The best MN born defenseman since Phil Housley. The next MN Defenseman to keep an eye on on is at the U of MN right now....remember the name Sam Rinzel. Blackhawks drafted him. They got a steal. Watch him in the NCAA tourney next weekend.

Rinzel has a lot to add to his game defensively still. He often times falls asleep defensively at the back post and can tend to get caught on his heels sometimes. If there is a Minnesota Dman to watch it would be Ryan Chesley, who has shown to be somewhat capable of reproducing Fabers ability in puck retrieval however lacks the breakout pass that Faber has. Offensively however I do agree that Rinzel is one of the most physically gifted Dmen in all of college hockey and with another season in the weight room and just putting in more effort defensively I think could be future top 4 pairing guy for a long time in the NHL.

Was he undervalued at the draft because of his lack of offense? Were there any signs back at the draft that he could become as good as he did?

We ranked him 37th. We loved the rush defence and the puck-moving ability. So we're putting that in the good takes column :P. But yes, the lack of offence was concerning a bit.
