as far as i know those little stripes you put under your stabs are the included "tape mod" that people used to do to their stabs where you put tape below the stab so on bottom out they feel dampaned and are less prone to rattle. The ones that are made for thinner pcb's are called shimms and are put below the pcb so the stabs still fit if they arent made for 1.2mm pcb's

I'm planning to build my 2nd keeb this summer. I really wany Envoy but I don't think I would be able to get it when it become stock. My other options are JRIS and Bakeneko65.

It's hilarious to me how everyone's been sleeping on the kinetic lab switches! The salmons are the first switches I immediately reordered 110!
I don't really care for any of the linear switches but they are very high quality.

I bought some Moon V2 switches a few weeks ago for my Bakeneko. I love them and I think they have replaced oil kings as my favorite pre lubed switch.
Me too, I have honestly been enjoying them more than my lubed / filmed alpaca v2's.
How would you compare them with the Oil kings? I'm thinking of choosing between these two switches. Compare sound/smoothness at stock?
@@ICmikeyP I have and am also a fan of oil kings, but I think these are smoother and sound better tbh. There are definitely similarities between the two.

the keychron q1 v2 is my favorite keyboard, with a tape mod a little pit of pillow fluff and gateron oil kings it feels and sounds very nice

Nothing. Any keyboard is going to be louder than a custom-built quiet board.

As a proud owner of a Corsair K100 with optical linear switches, I can definitely say that I am not proud to own a Corsair K100 with optical linear switches.
(Look, it's a great "gamer" keyboard with a lot of really great switch features and macro-ability, but a $250 keeb with aluminum frame should have hot-swappable switches) I got that chonky bad-boi on a Best Buy Cyber Monday sale a couple of years ago for 179.99 before knowing absolutely anything about keyboards, and I don't regret it. It taught me the things I should look for in a custom board.

Personally I've never needed to, as I'm in a pretty humid environment but if you have a bunch of shock in your daily life, I suggest getting a grounding band

Hello there! Keep up your nice work. Because of your videos, I made 2 custom keyboards. Two Keychron K4 Version 2 with jelly black akko switces and pbt cherry keycaps. I lubed switces and put some tape behind the pcb. One for home and one for office. The clicky sound is dope!!!

Figure out if the keyboard has clip-in stabs or if it supports screw-in stabs. That's it, unless it's something like a Razer keyboard using weird proprietary stabilizers

So I just got a F98 Music Rhythm Hot-Swap Mechanical Keyboard [Garywood Switches] but I can't find any videos on it...will some of the basic mods still work with this keyboard?
so i have a 60% keburd and i have yellow switches and the man i have bued the kebord from he sad the kebord is the best is the world but i wont to ask is the yellow switches is good or not ???????
i just built my first keyboard and my only but biggest mistake was not taking the little plastic piece off the bluetooth/usb/receiver toggle. Now the little toggle broke off and I can only switch it's modes by using a toothpick or something T.T

You have to take a look at the Royal Kludge rk 61 in my oppinion a great keyboard for the price
IK this is late but i just wanted to agree with you -- RK makes amazing boards at the price, but in the end, they are really just a cheap gamer keyboard with some customizability. Now don't get me wrong, if you mod them enough it can sound great, but it takes some work

With the amount of money this costs in mind, you recommended the QK65. Now, I would love to pick up a qk65 but only in stock rarely. Any recommendations outside of that Hipyo? Atleast for a 65%, im looking for a nice keyboard for my first build. I might try to get the envoy in a month but they probably will run out of stock since they are in pre-order right now.
the tm680 is a 67% if thats good with you! you can probably do more research as needed
QK65 was my first build. I do love it (though I find myself reaching for my Tofu Jr more often). If it's your first build, it's going to teach you a lot of patience as it's like an onion to take apart - lots of layers. For the price though, it can produce a very nice sound. I just wish it had LEDs. Doesn't even need to be RGB, but something even like the cool white of the Bakeneko65 would have been nice. That's basically my only gripe about it.
I also ordered the Zoom65, Tofu65, and Envoy. I just built the Freebird60 in a pseudo 65% layout since the PCB gives you the option of arrow keys.
envoy, tofu65 2.0, bakeneko65,zoo65 are the best instock or soon to be instock boards atm....this board from kinetic labs seems nice but its a hard sell considering the price compared to the others mentioned

You can just preorder the envoy to get it but you can also check out the new retro 66, though the retro may be a little hard for a first board

I have a question i did tape mod my rk 61 i use akko cs Rose red Switches i put a bit foam in the case and modded my stabs and lubed my Switches what could i do now to make it Sound even better edit: for not much money 😅
You could try different foams like poly fill, etc. also see if a PE foam is possible.

Hipyo do you have any keyboards you can recommend that are a strong shade of green like british racing green? I dont like the zoom75 dark green (too much blue) or the mode sonnet (too pale)
Look out for Matrix Corsa extras from NovelKeys_ in the coming months, they specifically had a green also named BRG. Ellora65 by Kiko Lab also ran a pretty high saturation green, probably a few more months out from fulfillment. Keebfront's new 65% (Vanguard?) is also supposed to be a nice saturated allbeit slightly darker green based on renders. The Maja V2 came in a nice Forest Green about a year ago, probably some floating around MechMarket

I want one that's mostly silent but probably tactile.
I know I do like cherry reds although I know those are Linear
you can get the ws silent tactiles if ur on a budget :)
Haimu whisper silent tactile is what I'm using right now, and they are great. It's factory lubed, but they feel even better after you lube them a bit more. Quietness comparable to boba U4 silent switches with a similar feel. $20 for 70 switches, so definitely budget friendly.
I literally bought a Blackwidow elite less than 10 minutes ago (It has clicky switches but it was £30 so its ok)
So, not balancing the stabilizer wires? Don't forget that. Otherwise the tick gremlins will come for your spacebar and such
I honestly haven't needed to balance a wire on anything except $20-$50 keyboards
