Warren, this lesson was an excellent explanation on the subject of altered extensions and gave me a clearer understanding of which to use and where. As a 74-year old senior still studying jazz and arranging. I play tenor sax and bass and have an original tune I'm trying to arrange for big band. Trying to learn arranging as I go, a slow process at my age. Thanks for your very excellent video.

That is by far the most eloquent, clearest explanation and illustration of music theory I've ever seen. I'm a guitar player, and even I got inspired by it. Just absolutely outstanding. Thank you.

Most of these advance piano youtubers keep on confusing others with their rootless voicings but atleast for you warren, you keep on hitting the roots of your voicings and it's really a good practice.

Warren, it's a very clear explanation. now I know more about the altered chord which brings much color to a song. I am so happy to learn a beautiful song "Lord you are welcome" from you.😃
I always don't know how I apply it, whether to omit some note sometimes, or I just play the block chord, or I have to play in broken chord?
As I can see , you left hand also will play the differennt note of the chord. As a beginner, I always just use an octave, or use 1 5 8 pattern. After watching your playing, I think I can at least get more clue now. Thanks so much!!

I didn't really understand the tritone sub, sharp 5th chord logic, But i notice these whacky chords always happen before they resolve diatonically, B natural note (no matter hows its explained) will resolve to Bb , Gb to G, Db to D like a passing note... also super impressed with the walking bass line! I'm still playing root notes on the LH.
    great video and thank you
